Summer Shack Cambridge
The waiter promptly attended our table. The dinner was delicious! We always enjoy out time at the Shack! A favorite when we are in town!
The bartender was also the raw bar attendant. The fish was not properly prepares and we sent it back. The portion for calamari plate was sub par and overpriced. We will NEVER waste our valuable time to go back to this location.
Over all just ok. I was expecting better service . Food was fresh but could have been prepared to better degree
Disappointing- didn’t meet expectations- Calamari greasy, tacos bland , desserts over sweet and low quality ice cream . Won’t be back .
We were there for Dine Out Boston and their selections were all tempting. Everything was delicious.
Food was delicious, as always. Fish so fresh and ample portions. Nice menu options--hard to choose! We did miss the free cornbread, which we were told is now a charged item. Also, for the 2nd visit in a row, I was disappointed to hear the South Bay Blonde oysters were unavailable. We will definitely return soon, though!
Best clams ever! The food was awesome and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Seafood that we ordered were not fresh and overcooked.
Good was excellent. They ran out of crab claws and substituted one shrimp in our Tower of Power. The waitress noticed that the substitution was not fair so she asked the manager to give us a discount. She also brought he is extra shrimps. Very nice of her.
I love the ambiance at this place. The server was nice and helpful and The food was Very fresh and delicious. I would definitely go back again.
I enjoyed enough.
No corn bread? Clam chowder was extremely salty with very few claim....shrimp liguingi seemed to have a hot sausage added and portion of swordfish was small and partially cook on one piece
Always a great option for meeting family and friends. Great food and wonderful service.
Love the food & staff esp our server Jeffery. Keep up the great work guys, will be back soon
Great food and great service. Highly recommend for seafood lovers!
Business Dinner: we were a group of 24 people and the service and food were great. Thank you
We were there late, but everyone was friendly and cheerful after 10 pm. Soup was hot and good. Lobster roll and the salmon was cooked perfect. Looking forward to next time to try the whole lobster.
We went there for my daughter’s birthday. Everything was great! Had a nice table, wonderful waiter, and the food was excellent! Prices very reasonable. We will definitely be back!
Great for groups and great for families with young children.
The seafood paella was fabulous and the oysters were great as always
This is not a favorite of mine. It's styled as an 'in the rough' type seafood restaurant but with high end prices. We found the service slow, after waiting a long time with nothing but bread, the appetizer salads came with the meal. We ordered the special, very expensive, pan fried lobster which came in the shell. Dripping with excessive amounts of sauce, it was a mess to eat. We were given one napkin each and no towelettes until we asked. No picks were available and I was unable to access a large part of the lobster meat. The space is caverns and loud and simply doesn't gel with the high prices and poor service.
Loved this place!! Great Lobster and fried clams. Great for casual place with excellent seafood at value pricing.
The food was excellent. I would recommend getting a reservation. Although the restaurant was not crowded when we arrived at 6:00 pm, it quickly filled up. The waitstaff was courteous and professional.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants really tasty seafood with great service.
Good food and beers here.
I had the hake and it was delicious! The key lime pie and indian pudding were also very good
Calamari arrived tepid and a lot of the coating had fallen off. Very disappointing.
Lobster roll was just fair and I thought the lobster was overcooked
the bun was barely butted and toasted. My friends had swordfish kabobs which they liked
Tuna ahi poke was excellent, and Cobb salad.
We love the Summer Shack
All was good
Food was excellent & I celebrated my BD
We frequent the Summer Shack often and were a bit surprised and disappointed with the quality of the food on New Year’s Eve. We were a party of six and ordered 3 orders of the grilled clam appetizer and the clams came out somewhat on the raw side, cold and doused with the garlic sauce. We ordered a large fried clams platter and the dish was mostly french fries. The monkfish was buried in rice. I’m hoping that this was all due to the kitchen staff being overly busy. I will think twice about coming back.
For what they charge for food I thought it was going to be delicious and give decent portions. I was deceived, the food wasn't that great. The service wasn't that good either. I wasted 70 dollars on low quality seafood.
We had a lovely meal! We miss Sal!!
Usually enjoy going here but on this evening, Christmas Eve, the service was very poor and the food preparation was sloppy. Items were served lukewarm and the ingredient proportions were off.
Great food and excellent service even though the place was full
Lots of good seafood, but very poor serving special diets.
Summer Shack is a very good seafood restaurant and is very conveniently located with ample parking. It is very close to the Alewife T station. We use it as a a meeting point for friends coming from several directions . Add to that the fact that the food is excellent and the service is good and friendly and we are frequent visitors.
My husband and I went for an early (5:30pm) dinner on a Saturday. The restaurant had many families with young children, just as we expected. As parents of three now-teenagers, we know the challenges of taking kids to restaurants first-hand. However, there were kids running around the entire restaurant, jumping up and down the small staircase, playing hide and seek, cutting corners and physically bumping into us. The parents are to blame, but if the restaurant doesn't tell the neglectful parents that the children will get hurt and shouldn't run around, they should seat diners without children in a totally different section. There certainly were many other tables available.
And the waiter was nowhere to be found - had to get another one to tab us out.
The food was terrific! We had grilled shrimp and a whole sea bass. Everything was cooked to perfection and the sauces were wonderfully flavorful. However, I was surprised that in 2019, the waitperson had seemingly not been briefed on which foods contain gluten, and apparently did not know that soy sauce contains gluten. Service was good; however, although the restaurant was almost empty, no one ever came to refill our water glasses or ask us if we needed anything. Finally, some of the prices were a bit shocking--for example, lobsters in the $50s! The decor was just right for the space, and the Tiki-Head-turned-Fisherman's-Head outside the front door was a delightful nod to Aku-Aku, a Polynesian restaurant that occupied the same space in the last two decades of the previous century. Overall, a fun experience. We would come back!
Grilled Tuna dish good but not very nice looking, presented in a pile. Waldorf salad mostly apples.
Bathrooms very cold , toilet seats freezing.
