Summer Shack is great relaxing place close to the hotels in the back bay. After running the marathon all we wanted was a warm friendly environment to refuel and start recovering. Cheers. Btw, the food is great.
We celebrated our Boston Marathon finisher with a fabulous meal at Summer Shack. The only complaint I had with our meal was the lighting. It was a bit too dark for me, personally, but everything else was fabulous! Would recommend the sea scallops and shrimp. Very delicious!
Ate here twice during my stay! Easy walk from Sheraton on Dalton Street.
Food was good raw bar was excellent.
Nice drink selection.
Great oysters!!! Best lobster roll. Great service staff. A real winner place!
A great meal. We started with R I Calamari , lobster pot stickers which were very tasty. I had monkfish and my wife had grilled shrimp and scallops. Well prepared. The sangria was a perfect accompaniment.
Always a great meal there. Our waitress Sophia was attentive, new the menu and made suggestions.
Went for the oysters and was not disappointed. Great selection and recommendations. Our server, Sophie was knowledgeable and super pleasant. Mains were better than average and reasonably priced. Casual and friendly, with just the right amount of sophistication to make distinctive. Highly recommend
My first time here, although I have passed the place a thousand times. I’ve been to King’s Bowling next door and honestly I never noticed that the Summer Shack was there.
I went there at the suggestion of a work colleague that I hadn’t seen in years, and we met up for dinner.
We each ordered a beer, split an order of Calamari, a salad each. She ordered 1/2 dozen oysters - not my thing. We both had lobster, which was decent, but hardly worth $65. Here in NH, an hour from Boston, we can get triple lobsters, soup, salad, veggies for $22.
Anyhow, our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was average, in my opinion, and certainly not remarkable nor memorable. The bill? $202. Plus tip, $242. I expect a stellar dining experience and a remarkable meal if I am spending $100pp.
Would I recommend Summer Shack? Probably not, unless you don’t know what terrific food is, and your wallet is bursting with excess ca$h to waste.
Mike the waiter was great!!!
Summer Shack in an easy place to meet up with friends. It happily accommodates a large group. The service was very capable, the drink offerings were highly satisfactory, and there is a deep menu with a real focus on seafood.
Great food. A return visit is in order
Awesome lobster roll, great cocktails, fun atmosphere. Our waitress Carla was excellent!!
Love the crab cakes, roasted cauliflower, and tuna, and....yum!
First time visiting and loved it! Great atmosphere and the food was fantastic!
Good food, we both got lobster roll ($30, a little high), but the whole menu looked delicious and we had a hard time choosing. Good for kids. Will definitely come back next time we are in the area.
It was great! I was really looking forward to the lobster and corn fritters but it was not on the menu :(
Had previously visited last time on business while staying in Back bay. Back this time for a leisure trip stopped in for a late night dinner and had wonderful service and food. Went back next day for pre-dinner drinks and conversation both the bartender, host, and server were amazing a must visit while in Back bay will stop in again!!!
I have been to Boston twice and have stayed at the hotel across the street from this restaurant both times. My most recent visit I googled good restaurants in the Boston area and the Summer Shack popped up with rave reviews. I can't believe I missed this restaurant on our first visit and will definitely be back on my next visit.
Great seafood in a casual atmosphere. I liked the variety of options on the menu, including a prix fixe menu.
The best seafood we had on our short trip to Boston! A fun and casual atmosphere with a 5 🏆 quality meal.
Pricey for the quality of food. Servers seemed understaffed so everything took quite a while.
I've eaten at Summer Shack many times over the years. Food has
usually been good. Noise level last Saturday was terrible; music blaring loudly, so much
so I could barely hear my companion across the table from me. Steamed mussels, which I've enjoyed on previous occasions at Summer Shack, were served cold and not fully cooked.
Was a bit disappointed with the meal on this visit. Had not dined at this location in many years, so can only compare it to other locations. The clam chowder was pretty bland and my wife’s cup had very few clams, mostly potatoes. We both got salads, she the Iceberg and myself the beet and kale. These were both very good, but how hard it it to screw up a salad. For dinner, we both ordered the famous lobster roll. It was OK. I thought the lobster was tough and lacked flavor, my wife said she enjoyed hers. For $30, I expect it to be good, so I was let down to say the least.
As for service, Abby our waitress was fantastic. She was attentive enough to make sure we were taken care of, but not too overbearing or the opposite, non existent. If not for her, this would have been a very poor visit.
Had great service. Lobster roll was fantastic.
Try many seafood restaurants at Boston
Summer shack at Boston is best
went for restaurant week. The 3 course menu was pretty good as well as the food. Drinks are fairly priced. Good service
The service was great and the brownie sundae was delicious!
Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Although a little slow at checking in on the table.
We went to Summer Shack for Sunday brunch. It was delicious! We all agreed that it would have been a really great place for dinner. The seafood was fresh, the music was perfect, table settings clever and the wait staff wonderful. We have crab benedicts, chowder and a warm lobster roll that were amazing! There were so many thing we wished we could have tried. A wonderful place--I highly recommend it!
The waiter was excellent and accommodated a difficult diner in our party. The food was good and portions were plentiful. It's definitely got a casual feel.
Great food. Nice waiter. No wait because I had reservations. It was pretty loud but I think it was surrounding table specific.
Great atmosphere and friendly, attentive service throughout. The famous pan roasted lobster is legendary for good reason - lobster perfectly cooked and basted with a herbs, chive and drawn butter. Wonderful. Lobster roll was delicious also. Highly recommend.
Awesome seafood. Tempura calamari was the best we've EVER had! They did not have the Thursday crabs we specifically came for, though.
The scallops with remoulade was really delicious.
If you want seafood done right, this is the place to go.
Was in Boston for a volleyball tournament and took time out to visit family. Niece suggested the Summer Shack and it was PERFECT. Waiter was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food was awesome.
We arrived at noon for a 12pm reservation. The restaurant had, maybe 4 tables there, but we waited 15 minutes to be sat despite 3 check ins by different people. Once sat it took a good 1/2 hour to order food. When the meal arrived the server checked in and then we didn’t see him again until the check came. For the provenance and price of this place I expected better service, especially since there were so few tables there at the time.
Loved our server! Such a hardworking guy and super friendly. Made our night one to remember!
The fish dishes were fine but our guest ordered a lightly toasted grilled cheese sandwich which was partially burnt. Also, the wrong dessert was given to her --regular ice cream instead of the requested sorbet.
Weekend getaway, excellent seafood but wish we could have tried the red snapper ceviche
The food was absolutely amazing both times we went. The service was crazy fast! They were very accommodating for my infant son (even when he spilt my Husband's beer, the manager cleaned it up and grabbed him a new beer). Will definitely visit again and recommend to others!
