Summer Shack Ratings and Reviews
A great spot for dinner before a concert at Berklee Performance Center. The seafood dishes are well thought out and they let you substitute sides, if that is your choice. There are options like fried chicken and steak for those who do not want seafood. This is one of the better seafood restaurants in Boston, run by an excellent chef who uses fresh, seasonal ingredients and should not be considered a tourist trap.
We had a great night at Summer Shack.. food outstanding.. lobsters, chowder, and oysters to boot all top notch! Service was also great, Sam and the team really looked after us and we’ll be sure to cook up some chowder when we get home to Australia! Thanks so much for the cook book! Do yourself a favour check out this place it’s excellent!!
Brought my family here for an early dinner and this is one of the worst places to eat lobster in Boston. The meat of the lobster was very tough and rubbery. We struggled chewing it. Had to cut it in small pieces to make it easier to chew. We’re from a culture that’s used to consuming a lot of seafood in our diet and we know what’ good and what’s not. The Manager or owner (perhaps) asked us after how the food was and we told her the truth but didn’t even offer any discount despite our dissatisfaction. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. There are far better ones in the city and in the harbor.
The bartenders were attentive and provided quality drinks and timely delivery of some snacks. We then went to our table, where our waiter was knowledgeable about the food and wines available. All of our beverages were delicious and reasonably priced, and the food was prepared beautifully. Furthermore, the food was deliciously, bordering on succulent. We left nothing behind. I had not been in some time and am questioning my life choices as to why I do not go more often.
The food was great which will keep me coming back as I am local. However, our server Mike was extremely unprofessional. It was the worst service I have ever been subjected too. My cousins were visiting from North Carolina and were very taken aback by his unprofessionalism as well.
I have never been to Boston, so given to opportunity to come to this beautiful city, the hotel; The Colonnade Hotel, highly recommend the Summer Shack, and I was not disappointed for the must have Lobster Roll, because I always dreamed of coming to Boston and having "real" lobster rolls. THANK YOU, I WILL NEVER FORGET THE SERVICE AND FOOD!
My wife and I went there because I wanted some good seafood. I got it – wonderful raw oysters from a wide selection and a great 2 lb. lobster. Ann had fried chicken – a very large serving, a big part of which we took home and enjoyed the next day. The restaurant is noisy, so conversation was difficult, and that affected our evening on the town somewhat. If you're looking for good seafood, though, this place has it.
First time there very casual and had a great time. Sat at the bar and had apps and dinner along with drinks, of course. Our bartender, Chris was awesome!!!!!!! I did have an issue with my meal I ordered but Chris really took care of me and the end result was fantastic! Of course like anything in Boston, the seafood is very pricey!! Everyone was great and very friendly. Can't say enough about having a super time. We were there for over 3 hours and never felt rushed, just a great time. Thanks Chris!!!
Spent a week in Boston and this was by far, our best seafood meal. The staff was friendly, quick, responsive, and fun! We had a variety of oysters (recommended by our server), followed by 1 1/2 lbs of pan broiled lobster smothered in garlic butter and herbs. They had a great wine menu. Summer shack is a great value for the quality. It's a bit hidden and not an obvious place to stop. We'll be back next time we're in town.
