Boston's Best Lobster Roll
tarragon mayo, cucumbers & potato bun or CT style warm butter poached lobster
remoulade, coleslaw & sweet potato fries
As a tourist, good sample of Boston seafood and enough for regular food for non seafood eaters. If I was a local, not a place I would frequent.
We had a really great meal. Starting with oysters, then fish soup. My wife had Portuguese stew and I had yellowfin. Key Lime Pie for dessert. All of it excellent.
Great Restaurant ! Would dine there again as food was outstanding
Good food. Good service.
Server was friendly as was host.
Will definitely be back!
We were seated with no menus. Luckily we had looked online. I understand short staffing, but don’t tell us the food will be up in 10 minutes when you know it isn’t true. From the time we ordered it was about 45 minutes. If what we got was great, the wait may have been justified, but charitably it was mediocre. My daughter’s lobster roll was really skimpy. My wife ordered the seafood stew and the clams and mussels were, in her words, inedible. She grew up by the sea and knows of what she speaks. Now to my lobster Mac & Cheese. It’s billed on the menu as having the meat from a 1 pound lobster, I guess just not all the meat. I thought they had made an error and brought me a side, but no, that was the $38 main. They did comp us two glasses of wine, but our total came to $140 before tip.
Not too crowded for our Wednesday 6:00 Open Table reservation. Made things easier. Tried new things - spicy crab chowder and blistered shishito peppers. Only two of four dessert items on the menu were available.
From the last minute reservation to the griddled corn bread for desert our evening was perfect.
$1 oysters were an excellent way to sample New England’s best oysters.
It was refreshing to see a Sancerre on the wine list by the glass, always a great wine with casual food.
I could not have picked a better dinner that evening.
Food was just OK. Ate in lots of places in Boston over the weekend and this was the least impressive. Clam chowder was watery and underwhelming
Awesome food and wonderful server. Swordfish was delish.
From the moment we walked in, service was exceptional! We were early, and they were happy to accommodate, our waiter was prompt, polite, and helpful with the menu. Food was served hot and tastefully presented. Great choice!
Wow!!!! Had lunch before the Red Sox game (14 innings and won)
Had fresh oysters, lots to choose from!
We loved the Cotuit and Menemsha!
Then we a 2 pound pan roasted lobster-
I see now there was so many great reviews!
Absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend!
We also had a free desert via Yelp, so we decided to splurge for our first time in about 6 months and have a dessert - we had the warm fudge brownie with ice-cream and it was fabulous!
Our waiter was excellent and friendly!
We enjoyed the food and the service was good.
Overall a nice low keyboard experience.
Had a great dinner with another chef colleague and our spouses. I ordered the cedar planked salmon MR. It was perfect-crispy skin and edges yet soft and moist on the inside. All the others loved their entrees,
This was a disappointment. I figured since we were in Boston we should eat some good seafood. This was not the place. The food was edible but not much better. There ate many better restaurants in Boston. I won't be back.
Best Lobster roll I’ve ever had.
George was amazing!!!
Good spot to get your Boston seafood fix-menu has a lot of fried options and I was surprised that no fried oysters were available. Clam chowder was tasty but not hot (in the “pass” too long?). My fried clams were tasty and the portion size was good. Service was OK-price was reasonable-
The oysters were amazing; the meal was delightful.
Looked forward to having oysters since I was in Boston on business. Ordered half a dozen as there was a good selection along with dinner and glass of wine. The manager comes by in a bit with our entrees-hadn't received the oysters or wine yet. Decided to just take the entree and skip oysters. Manager says he'll take the oyster charge off our bill but will still bring the oysters gratus. They took the charge off but never brought the oysters. Seems both the manager and server blew it off. Going to Legals next time.
Food came 45 minutes after we arrived. Lobster potstickers were cold, oysters Rockefeller were overcooked and rubbery. Pan roasted lobster was very good. Bill came immediately after they bussed the table; didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert. This was a very disappointing meal; not worth what we paid.
Food was good and server was attentive. It definitely busy, but wait time for drinks and food was reasonable.
This was our second visit to the Summer Shack. It is a very laid back environment which is what we wanted after a long day in Boston. The seafood is delicious and the staff are friendly. My margarita was delicious! My husband and I shared fried calamari, which was wonderful. Then I had Raw Oysters which were big and very tasty. My husband had the clam chowder which he really enjoyed. We then split the wood grilled lobster- fabulous! And it was plenty for the two of us.
We will definitely go back. The vibe is kind of beach bar…so, very relaxed.
Not a cheap meal but the lobster was fantastic
Great food and service.
Place was pretty nice, food was good, service… not so much. So many awesome places in Boston, probably wouldn’t recommend this one.
Good meal with reasonable price.
Food was okay. Calamari was most batter and my cocktail way too strong. Bartender did not know how to make a cosmo.
Clams were good as well as the raw oysters. Lobster was okay.
I always look forward to Summer Shack when I come home. Not so much this time.
Not bad. Expensive for what you get. The clam chowder was alright but nothing special (Boston Sail Loft has outstanding chowder). Oysters are $1 on Tuesdays.
Service was good. Food was great. CO2 levels were very low so we felt safe eating with our child who is too young to be vaccinated for COVID-19
Clam chowder, Lobster and clam were excellent
Very very slow service and waitstaff was not very knowledgeable about menu items
Price was fair although dishes were missing what menu said. My husband asked for brocolini instead of asparagus but still got asparagus. My dish was suppossed to have potatoes but didn’t. Between parking cost and the overall quality I’d give it a pass. If I were to spend 56 on crab legs again, I’d definitely pick a real seafood place.
Love Summer Shack! First time we been there in years, but the food was dead on great. Yes, I think it may have been the best lobster roll I've had, due to the tenderness of the lobster. Sorry guys (they were in the tank behind us). Cornbread and slaw surprisingly really good, crabmeat solid. Oysters great, wish they had Island Creeks though. Great service - not cheap but good value for freshness and well done simplicity!
This meal was better than the one we had the night before at Select Oyster Bar in the Back Bay.....
Loved the pan-roasted lobster and the lobster MacnCheese. The calamari appetizer was a bit chewy.
Lobster prices have gotten ridiculous need to correct or the restaurant is going to fail
Delicious lobster roll and fish and chips. Attentive server and a fun ambience. We will definitely go again!
The food was good but the service was only ok. The server brought the wrong food to our table then took it to the next table
Excellent food and service. My sister had a great birthday. Thank yiu’
Classic New England Seafood. Prepared well. Substantial portions. Great experience.
