We've eaten at the Summer Shack many times, as this is a convenient place to eat when we attend BSO (the parking discount helps, too). My wife and I both enjoy seafood, but I had never before ordered the Tuna Burger. This was one of the best choices I've made in a long time; I recommend it with the highest regard.
Grilled shrimp and scallops were very good, lobster rolls delicious
Very good food nice ambiance moderately priced good service
Shack atmosphere, busy and accommodating wait staff. Food is good, but prices seem high for what is served. For instance, lobster is selling at retail in Maine for $6.95 a pound, a two pound lobster here is $52.
I had only been to the Summer Shack (now closed, I think) out at Alewife T Station, several years ago, in a celebration involving MANY oysters. While attending an archaeology convention at the Sheraton Boston, I had lunch there in the past few days. Both times were delightfully happy ones, with excellent food, outstanding service, a great atmosphere, not to mention highly reasonable prices compared to other eateries in this Boston neighborhood (this based on direct experience). I recommend the clam chowder, lobster dumpling things, fish tacos, and, of course, the oysters. Couldn't like it more.
Great service and food!!
Great food and excellent service.
Excellent ambiance suitable for intimate and large party dining. Kid friendly with a diverse seafood menu. The oyster bar is especially good with a decent range to select from. Fresh! Lobsters are overpriced though and the bake stuffed version leaves much to be desired. Mine was watery with a few, very small, shrimp as well as being short on breadcrumbs. Tap selection is ok but not great. Wait staff is hurried and impersonal all bet it competent. The bottom line is the lack of value for the money spent. The $78 bake stuffed lobster was not the only thing overpriced. If you're going to spend this amount of money you are better off doing so at one of many other seafood options.
It was a great ambience. Really good service, Finley waitress and excellent food. We definitely will come again
Reliable favorite, a casual restaurant in the Back Bay. Food is plentiful (not overly) and very well displayed. Great variety of seafood options offered in everything from sandwiches through well sauces offerings. Worth a visit.
Great place to sit with friends and enjoy a very good meal.
great warm lobster roll and thin onion rings, great waitree
We were a party of 14 for my wife's birthday. I had been to a Summer Shack many years ago and wasn't sure what to expect. It was really great. Many great dishes to choose from on the menu and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Fun to have a full bar. My liter sized beer was great. We'll be back.
Wonderful service and great food!! Highly recommend the Jaspers Lobster
with my aunt
The lobster was soft-shelled (which can be expected this time of year), but there seemed to be an extremely small amount of meat inside even for a soft-shelled one, and residual salt water from the tank and/or cooking water had not been sufficiently or properly drained (excessive salt flavor). To be fair, my basis for comparison is the Lobster Pound in Wells, ME (years of experience of on the coast and open only in summer) but I think Mr. White can do a bit better. Menu, flavor apart from overly salty bites of lobster, service and ambiance were all excellent.
That pan roasted lobster! Oh my! But we love everything about the restaurant. The food, even the fried chicken, the atmosphere , and the service.
The food and service were good. Just expect to pay a hefty amount for the special lobsters.
Pan fried lobster did not disappoint. It was amazing.
Casual atmosphere with great seafood. good location and the staff were very nice
Great food, try the cornbread! Excellent service! Here on business so it was nice to try a new place!
The lobster roll was fantastic! Definitely a loud festive place.
Amazing food fresh and really flavorful. The wait staff made us feel that we were the only one he was serving can’t remember his name (, a composer ). Wonderful experience
Delicious scorpion bowl!
Good food....great service!
My server ( Riley) was spectacular. Patient and great following through on our rather complicated requests.
I was disappointed in my fried clams though-too heavily salted and too heavily breaded for my taste. My friends were happy with their scallops and shrimp with pasta dishes though.
Previously I had sent over 8 clients to dine at the restaurant and they were enthusiastic with their food and beverage and service.
We visited with my previous guest and we all satisfied with excellent food.
Super fun and energetic seafood restaurant. Beware of the UPsale from the 1 pound to 1.5 pound lobster. It was a $22 difference and I was shocked. Food was great otherwise and lots of choices for kids.
Starters (oysters and lobster) and main ( sea bas! were good, brûlée was average
great food and service. Environment is very loud and hard to speak over
Terrific oysters, chowder, fried clam roll, and service.
Everything was great except I asked for fried clams not fried clam sandwich but overall food was great and the service
Fun no Thrills Place. Food and Service was good. Priced right.
We enjoy Summer Shack for the oysters and great seafood, plus it's conveniently located.
Food was fine. Lobster roll for one of us, and a crab BLT for my partner. Similar price and quality to other meals we had. Nothing outstanding.
Great food and good service.
Overpriced lobsters for the convention crowd at Hynes.
We ordered paella. It was soup, like a Spanish-style bouillabaisse. It was OK, but it wasn't paella. The salads were good.
The sesame crusted yellow fin tuna was one of the best meals I've had in a few months (and we go out often). Highly recommended. Pre-dinner cocktails were made perfectly. Oyster selection is very good and were of high quality. Will return!
Our server was so friendly it made our experience great. The food was good and it was close to our hotel.
