The broken air-conditioner made the experience less than perfect. Our waitress was very apologetic and did everything to make our meal as pleasant as possible.
Service was terrible! Took 45-50 mins for appetizers to come out. No AC! Horrible experience
Excellent fried clams. Best chowder!
A surprise find for us in our visit to Boston. Loved it. Excellent food and fantastic service. Thoroughly recommend to anyone.
We stopped in for the ease of location but was not happy with service or food. Waiter looked annoyed as she served us. There are far better options for chowder and a lobster roll.
If you want to feast on fresh shellfish, this is as good as it gets. Can easily rack up a big check, but if spending a few dollars is not an issue, this is as good as it gets for New England’s best seafood. Each time we visit, they always have 7 or 8 different types of oysters. Great clams steamed in garlic and butter. They also grill their calimari as well as fry it; not sure why more places don’t do this? Their lobster preparations are uniquely delicious but not over the top as enhancement to fresh seafood. Homemade coleslaw, corn on the cob and a great selection of beers. Waiters and waitresses are obsessed with making sure you have a great time. Place is very casual and a bit loud, but really fun. I highly recommend! Great family place and just as much fun with friends who like to eat and drink!
This place is overrated. The prices are good but the lobster and monkfish dishes were overcooked. The place was a hot, loud mess and the service was spotty. Our waiter would disappear for long periods of time, and the kitchen wasn't able to keep up with a moderate sized crowd, even BEFORE a huge party came in. Also, the a/c was malfunctioning, a few ceiling fans were broken, so the whole experience was poor. This place looked gimmicky, which doesn't usually bode well for quality, as was the case.
Underwhelming meal. Oysters were good, but credit nature for that. Service was pleasant.
We had a great time at Summer Shack on 4th July. Fun atmosphere and really enjoyed the food.
Casual atmosphere, delicious food, and our waitress Jenn was very pleasant. I would definitely go back. The Lobster Roll was delectable.
Great food! Great service! We were within walking distance of our hotel and enjoyed the atmosphere while visiting Boston!
Fun family style atmosphere. Enjoyed every food we received - lobster roll, lobster gnocchi, grilled calamari and two chowders - New England and fish chowder. Would most definitely go back.
I mainly came back for the jasper lobster which was good.
Ordered the sesame crusted tuna but so disappointed as it was too well done.
Fortunately the waiter took it off my bill as i took only one bite.
The hostess was awful. Couldn't-care-less attitude, resting her elbows on the hostess stand while she chewed her fingernails. We had to wait 10 minutes past our reservation time and there was no apology or offer to sit at the bar. Also no drink while we waited. Server was very good. Crab cakes were good. Halibut was very thin and dried out. We had to ask twice for extra lemon. Key Lime Pie was small, no whipped cream on one of them and absurdly overpriced at $8.00 each piece.
Just wanted something different for an anniversary. For several years we went to Del Frisco’s in the Seaport but that’s sometimes too much of everything (food & &$) so we went for good food in a more relaxed atmosphere. Everything except my bluefish dinner was excellent including our server, Jen. The atmosphere was casual without being sloppy and we could have a conversation !! I’d give Summer Shack another try because the cherry stones, crab cakes, Caribbean stew, and steamers were perfect. This was a positive experience!
Had grilled lobster.
Great food. Loved the Monkfish. Excellent oysters
The service was great and our appetizers came pretty quick. The main dish took a little longer but not a big deal. The size, taste, temperature of the food was excellent. A bit pricey but to be expected in Boston. Overall, it was a great experience and there was no problem making and changing our reservations.
Excellent food. Very interesting, appealing menu items for brunch/lunch. Grilled cornbread, chicken and waffles, lobster frittata, open faced veggie omlet. Spacious and clean enough but it is below ground/barely at street level so a bit dark and damp. Server was friendly and knowledgeable and our orders came in timely fashion. Go for the really good food and the convenience to Back Bay, Pru, Hynes and even Fenway Park.
Once again a great meal. We always come back here when we return to Boston. Love Summer Shack and will be back again soon.
First time visitor, spending the weekend in Boston. Hotel recommended Summer Schack. I had the shrimp and scallops with the farm vegetables ratatouille. Excellent flavors, especially on the seafood. Wanted to try the Boston Cram Pie (out), but settled on crime brûlée...excellent choice! Thoroughly enjoyed my meal!
We have loved this restaurant for many years. Our last two visits have been very disappointing. Overpriced tourist food.
We ordered crab cakes, corn bread, calamari, lobster potstickers and lobster rolls (CT style). All were fantastic! The price for the quality of food was phenomenal. Highly recommended!
We went as a family and the overall experience was great. It was pretty loud and exciting in there. If you looking to have a great meal and have fun this is a great place.
Food was fabulous, service was ok, but very noisy and the floor was incredibly slippery.
Will come back again for private dinner, but mayby not with business clients.
The steamed lobster was the best I’ve had in a while. I ordered 2lb. But think it was bigger. Great service. Cleaner and better than Barking Crab. And you can make reservations. Great atmosphere and yummy brownie dessert.
Food for all 9 was fabulous and our server was efficient and very helpful
We enjoyed the Connecticut style lobster which were really good i'd definitely visit here again, fun relaxed atmosphere
Great food, friendly service always a good combination!
Place was only so, so. One of worse lobster rolls ever. Great tourist spot though
I had the great experience many times at Summer Shack.
Our friend claims were late coming because of a kitchen issue..BUT THE MANAGER DELIVERED THEM..APOLOGIZED AND AT NO CHARGE.
Now that is good customer service!
Food GREAT!! WILL GO BACK AND RECCOMEND..
Great food. It was loud and hard to hear our sever, but she was nice and a good server. Wish she had come by a little sooner to get us more drinks.
Lobsters were terrific! Lobster Mac was wonderful too! Great service. Will be back.
It was a really busy night with the pride parade and a double header at Fenway. We had a 7:30 reservation. Got there at 7:15. Asked us to wait at the bar until 7:30 which we did no problem. Thirty minutes later we still hadn’t been called. My husband checked and we were told that “someone” just sat another group at our table and we would have to wait. So again. Ok. We wait. Finally we sat. Then we ordered. Ran out of beer, ran out of tuna and ran out of something else. The oysters were amazing. The NE chowder was thin. The shrimp and scallops just ok. Atmosphere was good and our server was amazing even under the not so perfect circumstances. I think his name was Dan. Good job Dan!!
Waitress was great. Host and hostess were not competent.
Food was very good. We had Tuna, clams, shrimp and scallops and lobster roll. Great selection of drinks. A real solid place. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
