Very friendly and accommodating, food was outstanding
The food was average but lacking. The chicken kababs had no accompanying sauce and the salad had no dressing. The service was apathetic. It is definitely overpriced for what it delivers
First time going to this restaurant. Very happy with the customer service and quality of food. Especially enjoyed the vegetarian dishes and glad they could also understand and cater for gluten free. I will definitely be back.
We were there for the first time on a Saturday evening and were lucky to be able to sit in their back garden. There is nothing like eating outdoors without having traffic and the pollution it causes all around you. It was warm and I ordered a Greek salad with chicken. It was good but I would have preferred a larger portion and, perhaps, a stuffed grape leave added to it. I think what we enjoyed most was the pleasing atmosphere and, for that alone, we would return and try another dish.
The food and service were wonderful!
Connecting with dear friend.
Needed a quick dinner on the UES and decided to try Sumela.
Glad we did.
They have a nice selection of Turkish/Middle Eastern dishes and reasonably priced wines, including some from Turkey. I tried one of the reds by the glass and enjoyed ie.
My wife had the mixed appetizer as a dinner. It was delicious and more than enough to eat.
I enjoyed my chicken shish.
Would definitely eat there again.
I went to lunch there with a friend. The place is very clean and quiet. The waiter was very attentive and recommended a great wine to go with our meal. We enjoyed the lamb chops with rice.
I have been to Sumela several times and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and delicious. I tried Turkish wine for the first time here, it was very tasty.
The hostess couldn't find our reservation and told us to just take a table. Knowing that would trigger a no-show, I had her keep looking and she found it on a different system on an iPad in the corner. She had also kept a $20 bill for a $10 glass of wine so I had to chase my friend's change. Fortunately our waitress and the kitchen were terrific and the food was very good. We shared mixed appetizers which was a great way to try everything and not get too full to enjoy our entrees. The yogurt and cucumber went the fastest. The falafel was the best I've had in the neighborhood. Ordering was a little tough for the gluten-free person in our group, but the kitchen sent out a platter of carrot and cucumber so she could try the dips which was really accommodating.
Great quality food. Especially enjoyed the lamb shank, chicken kabob, Bronzino, and salmon dishes.
Disappointed. We were here when they first opened and were underwhelmed then, but thought we would give them another try. The menu on open table looked like they had upgraded the selections but when we got there it was the same old menu. The service was lackluster and it felt like they were doing us a giant favor giving us bread to use for the dips! The appetizers were good. Suggest a glass of wine and the apps and avoid the mains.
No third try for us.
We had brunch at Sumela Mediterranean Cafe Grill and enjoyed the food very much. The service was very good,
Great food in a casual restaurant with lovely service.
Great addition to the neighborhood!
Will definitely be going back!
Good but not great.
The food was very authentic, and delicious! We were there at lunch, so it was quiet. The waiter was very helpful.
Very friendly service. Food was good. Presentation was nice.
My reservation was for 12 o’clock. I got there a little early and a woman was standing there drinking coffee and said I can let you in. This was during the Arctic frost. As I sat and waited for my guest I noticed that the floor was filthy and food had been delivered and left standing in the restaurant cases of vegetables etc. We asked for Turkish tea and that was going to take an hour half an hour we asked for Turkish coffee and that was available food. was mediocre
If you say that you open at 12 then people should be there before and get the restaurant ready. The lights were off it was cold and dirty.
The food and service were excellent. Definitely a nice neighborhood restaurant.
Fresh ingredients and ample portions well presented and seasoned are featured at Sumela. Healthy dining options with grilled fish and meat entrees and vegetable sides. Delicious!
My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at Sumela. The Lamb Adana Kabab was delicious. Quite ambiance, perfect for a great meal and conversation. We’ll be back.
Food was good, nothing special. Portions could've been a little bigger and service was OK - our food took a while to come out
Sumela has great and authentic Mediterranean food with excellent service!
