We went for brunch and the menu was great, lots of options, including mock tails. Our server was not great and took a long time to bring items and check on us. He also didn’t listen to our order notes when we made modifications or asked for additional items. Overall, the food and the environment was great.
We had an adorable brunch for the third time this summer. The food is fresh, delicious and the staff courteous and friendly.
Just a quick note, the subway travels down the location, so outdoor seating can be louder, but in a beautiful summer day it was worthy for us!
Great place for brunch : both food and service were good. Only noise complaint is that it can be loud when the T goes by if you're outside -- this is true for all the restaurants on this corner though.
First time at the restaurant and it did not measure to the review I went by on Phantom Gourmet.....The food was okay, the service was weak and the selection of drinks was equally weak.....The background noise from the subway was very loud and aggravating....Not planning on returning or recommending.
Food was just a good as we remember, great to sit near the open bay window for fresh air
This is my second time going to Sulmona for brunch. The first time we had great experience. Our waitress was pleasant, greeted us nicely, took our order without having to wait and was checking on us. Unfortunately on our brunch from 7/24 we did not experience the same. It took the waiter a while to even come and take our drink order. The mimosas arrived in time however our espresso drinks come very delayed and cold. It also took quiet a while to place our food order, where I had to grab the waiter to let him know we were ready to place our order because he was not coming to ask if we were ready. The food was great but the service was mediocre.
Would have expected better from a 4.7 Star review.
I was there for Lunch ( we were out side ) the subway ran right under it, so the noice was very loud Do NOT sit outside if you want to talk.
I had the Cuban panini the pork was almost all FAT, the cheese was NOT melted , and it was verrry salted I felt like I ate a salt lick. the side Caeser salad was wimpy no flavored dressing. To top it all off , I would have expected the $4 ice tea ( did not know the price till I got the bill) to be the Best Ice Tea ever it was verrry BITTER, at first they served me Iced coffee with a lemon . The service was slow, theerfore had no opportunity to complain .
Very nice! Comfortably busy and very nice service.
Amazing brunch! We can't wait to come back. The food tasted great!
Excellent. Food was great and really enjoy large open dining area
Service was great, very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meals - no complaints :) Nice wine list.
I’ve always enjoyed this restaurant for its decor, energy, and menu, but lately the quality of food prep has stumbled, perhaps a consequence of the pressure of getting up to speed with insufficient staff after the pandemic. At busy times (weekend evenings, business lunches with groups of 6 or more), the noise level is outrageous- you cannot hear what your companions are saying unless they’re trained actors or singers.
My wife and I both had the chicken pomodoro. Chicken was tough. Wort rigatoni I have ever been served. Very tough and hard to chew
We enjoyed an excellent meal with excellent service and a relaxing atmosphere. Will certainly return.
We visited Sulmona for my Dad's birthday. We were greeted by an extremely rude host. It was actually shocking how rude he was. When we walked in he was on the phone and put his finger up as if to say 1 minute. This was no problem, we were happy to wait. He then walked away without saying anything, came back a few minutes later and threw his hands up at us as if to say "what do you want". We told him our reservation and he just grabbed menus and walked to the table without saying anything. If it wasn't my Dad's birthday dinner I would have turned around and left. Luckily we stayed because the food and drinks were delicious. Recommend the Sunday Sauce appetizer, the Lobster Carbonara and the doughnuts for dessert. Overall a good experience.
Great food and location. Not as great an atmosphere as expected. For some reason the television screens were not working.
Came here with 2 of my friends and the food was good. Get the lamb skewers and the arancini. For dessert try the peach and apricot crostini. Service was attentive and our waiter was very nice.
Wonderful ambience and delicious food. (Wish my portion had been a touch more generous.) Very tasty version of mussels to start. Hellos to Jim, our server.
The food was extraordinary. We had the slow roasted pork and pulled pork. I ordered sparkling water and a waiter came by later and put tap water in my glass. When I told her what she did she asked me if I wanted soda water, which I responded “really”?
We had the Carne pizza and the Carbonara. They weren’t bad. Just not what we’d expect from the presentation / prices of the restaurant.
Grilled Octopus was amazing. The spicy aioli that accompanied it was delicious. Also ordered the Cubano Sandwich. Was HUGE with lots of beautiful meat. Came with an arugula salad and the dressing was so good. Service was great. Interior is beautiful.
Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. Very glad we went!
The food was excellent. Each of us enjoyed a separate entree and all raved about their choice. The wine selection is broad to suit different price points. Ours was an Umbrian that was very good for the price. Wait staff was attentive and helpful. The location is right near Kendall Square for those who work or visit it there. We will be back.
Spaghetti w meatballs were excellent. Pasta was very fresh and homemade. The pasta with eggplant's sauce was too sweet for my taste. Salad was very basic.
We had an enjoyable meal. A few issues, nothing a deal breaker:
We were asked about water right away but had to wait a bit before ordering drinks. We were asked for an appetizer order at the same time as drinks. I like to relax with a drink before food arrives, but we got the food before our drinks. The waiters really should get the order of things straight.
My husband ordered the fried artichokes, which were fried so hard they were unchewable. And inedible. We mentioned that the waiter and he nicely took them off the bill. The panzenella salad was fabulous.
Overall, the service was pleasant, our entrees were very good and we had a nice time.
We went to Sulmona for Father’s Day. Everybody loved it and said it was one of the best Italian meals we have ever had!
Great food, great service. Would go back again and again.
Sulmona is one of our favorite restaurants. We enjoyed our apps & meals immensely. A special thank you to both our server, Babina, for the excellent service and James for making us feel special for remembering us & the delicious cannoli.
This was a HORRIBLE experience. We went there with open minds and hearty appetites, mind you we wanted to try this place pre-Covid just to leave there and get a couple of slices of pizza that was 10 times better then what we ate there
1-we order appetizers that even though the seafood was fresh, it was bland as chalk.
2- the mussels were tiny little peas
3- this is the big one, SERVICE SUCKED!!! We ordered our apps, waitress never came back to ask what we wanted for entrees and when she finally arrived, we were so disappointed with the food and service that we just asked for the check, not even two seconds later, she popped up with it. How insulting!!! Welcome back, RRRIIGGHHTTT!!!
If she did not want to serve us, then she should have gotten somebody else.
This place is a glorified DIVE BAR!!
-my name is Santos. I am Alexis’s boyfriend. I wrote this and yes WE WILL NEVER RETURN!!
Delicious food. Tiny portions.
Great array of Specialty Cocktails, a great selection of Wines, and after dinner drinks. The grilled octopus appetizer is a must, the best grilled octopus I have ever had! And the Frutti di Mare is in the Top 3 in the Greater Boston area in my opinion, staff is friendly and respondent, I highly recommend Sulmona, I will definitely be returning here for sure.
Absolutely amazing brunch experience. The food was spot on and incredibly flavorful. Service and ambiance were great as well. Highly recommended.
Outstanding drinks, great salads, and genuinely helpful service. I should definitely go here more often!
Enjoyed an incredible meal with incredible cocktails! Can’t wait to visit again.
This is an excellent place; food and service are great.
Always good food options, vegetarian too, good drinks and ambience, street parking, bit higher end compared to others closeby but would still be back for group brunches
Great food and service but incredibly loud. There was a birthday party behind us that was very rowdy and management didn't seem to care. That's my only complaint
I was there as part of a party of four for lunch. We'll be back!
Server was the friendliest I’ve ever encountered in the Boston area.
