We have visited this restaurant on several occasions. A few weeks ago, we visited and the experience was not great. It caused me to give it an average review. However, we decided to give it another try. We found the restaurant to be on point. From the salad to the dessert, they did a great job.
We will definitely be keeping Sulmona on our list of neighborhood restaurants to dine!
Fantastic food, service, and experience. The restaurant was so wonderful dealing with our large party. Definitely will return :)
Our experience was outstanding. The menu had something for everyone and the ambiance is really nice. Several folks in our group commented on the overall design. Our server Daniel was very friendly and knowledgeable. The porchetta was super tender and well seasoned. All the entrees were great. At the end of our meal they surprised us with a bottle of sparkly to celebrate the great year we had-completely unexpected. Perfect ending to a great night.
Checked in early for a drink...some pretty nice cocktail specials...big bar with lots of seating and good TV viewing. They sat and dinner...service was good as was wine list..not over that way often but nice proximity to the Kendall theaters...quite a few younger people as that’s the area...enjoyable
Great for our bachelorette party with 14 people!
Big portions, great food, great atmosphere!
Great place,Great food a must for Italian food.best Italian food around.
A great experience for any occasion. will definitely return
We have visited this restaurant several times. Either there is a new chef or a new manager as the quality of the food is in decline. The pizza did not seem fresh. We ordered a Margarita pizza which was full of cheese and in no way a classic. It was not good at all which was surprising given the attention to detail that is normally paid to the other dishes. We normally love the apple crostata. It was dry with limited apples.
We will be taking a break from the restaurant with the hope that they will pull it together.
The carbonara was outstanding and the other meals were very good. The cheese board was a generous assortment of widely differing cheeses. The decor is very "industrial", but comfortable. We went on New Year's Day so there were few other customers...thus I can't really determine normal noise levels. The service could not be faulted. It was not inexpensive. I recommend the place highly.
Excellent service and even better food
Lovely managerial wait staff. Food was excellent which was refreshing coming from a NY Italian. The decor was fun and vintagey. We made reservations for 5 on New Year’s Eve which was the perfect time. Not a lot of seating so would recommend booking ahead. There was however extra space at the bar and cocktails were PHENOMENAL, we tried the peach Bellini, mr. papagiorgio, and the Rosa. Would definitely come back again. Thanks for a great night!!
We went on New year's Eve dinner and a bit early so it was quiet but even when people started trickling in it wasn't too bad. The food was delish and the service was great!
I expected the food to be a lot better. Overall it was ok.
Excellent meal, superb wine and amazing service. A real holiday treat
Amazing ambiance, fantastic wine list, and incredible food. Get the chicken parm. Not to mention the BEST dessert I’ve ever had (chocolate hazelnut cake). Highly recommend for everything from a family dinner to a date night!
Outstanding food and ambiance
We had planned an early dinner (5pm) for our company (just our team of 5) to celebrate the holiday season. Food and drink were good but we felt rushed out. There was a large table seated next to us that clearly needed more space and the host and our server kept coming over to see if we were done. We just wanted to sip our last drinks and chat. We left before 7 having felt awkward with the eyes on us. I’ve worked in the industry and I know it happens, but you should expect this time of year tables won’t leave in 1.5 hours or less... don’t overbook your reservations
Food and service were very good. Solid menu items to satisfy everyone in the party. Will certainly be going back.
Friendly wait staff
perhaps i was not expecting it to have tvs and a large loud cavernous dining room
Great for a lively atmosphere with tasty Italian food.
We were looking for “porchetta” an italian dish rather difficult to execute at home: Well, what I got was an overcooked piece of flabby pork that probably was kept in the fridge for weeks, some sort of bbq sauce on top, lots of carrots and polenta. Honestly, I didn’t understand; they spent a lot of money in that place looking great but the “main dish” was terrible. They even have a pork statue with the word “porchetta” when you enter! My wife’s fish had too much oil around and was overcooked as well. Why open a restaurant and not even do mediocre food but really bad one? stay away!
One of the very best Italian restaurants I have ever visited. Everything was fresh and the portions were large. Arancici was amazing, and the porchetta was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Very attentive waitstaff. Service was top-notch, atmosphere was great, and the food was absolutely delicious.
First time dining here. Loved it. Food was very good but the fish was just a tad dry. Atmosphere was also great. Only complaint was that there were some small children that the parents were letting run around the restaurant. I was worried that one of the waiters would run into them.
Our server Roosevelt was great
Pizza and salad were impressive. Service was attentive.
One of my favorite places. I am here twice or more a month. Hate the music, though. Why does a restaurant need music anyway?
Food was great and there was a festive atmosphere . Very nice staff! It was busy so two things were a miss for out table - no bread with our cheese board because it was baking. It finally came and some people in our party were waiting to enjoy it with the cheese but our entrees came at the same time. A third of our cheese was never eaten. Secondly, one person ordered a hot tea after dinner and it was never brought. It was not on the bill but still, it would have been nice to enjoy. Otherwise a great time.
Food was super mediocre, bland. The area seemed like a business district - nothing else cute around the restaurant. Definitely should have gone to the North end instead!
The atmosphere and decor were nice and service was good but the food was very average. The pasta carbonara dish had little flavor and was disappointing.
The restaurant is really beautiful, but the food wasn't great. The salad was fine-- though nothing special. But the linguine and clams was truly just not good. Not sure if the clams were bad-- but the entire dish was briny and tasted "off." The desserts-- the Joey Bag o donuts and the apple crostata were ok-- but both very small. In general the portions were surprisingly small. The cappuccino was lukewarm which was very disappointing.
The service was sincere but several they made several mistakes on our order which they apologized for and tried to make right. But the service gaps combined with the off food-- was disappointing.
Really accommodating and friendly staff. Can be busy at times but a nice spot in the area for get togethers. Food is solid, nice bar and drinks. Fun spot.
Food & drink were wonderful! David the bartender was attentive, provided great service and killed it behind the bar. He was the only bartender on that night and was able to get drinks for all the patrons and service bar. Keep up the good work!
My friend and I split an appetizer and a pizza. Both were very good, and it was a good amount of food for lunch.
I had been very pleased with Sulmona in the past. But I think they overbooked this time. The food came out very fast and our server seemed eager to have us decide and order quickly. We were there 1.5 hours and then our server abruptly informed us the manager needed us to leave. I ended this business meal curbside.
Delicious food, friendly attentive service, fun atmosphere
One of the best burgers in town
