Consistently delivers a very good meal and great value.
Great service and professional, yet friendly, atmosphere.
I'd recommend it as a convenient place to eat in a busy part of town. The food is undistinguished and there is something amiss with seating. On a personal note, I dislike being seated at a suboptimal table when better, empty tables are plainly visible nearby. This has happened twice at Sulmona.
Service too slow t
Everything was fantastic. All ways great service and great food. We are happy that this restaurant is in our neighborhood!
The food was terrible — no flavor, bland. The noise level was a bit much but the venue itself is beautiful. I would suggest eating here but I’m sure its an okay place to enjoy a drink.
The octopus appetizer was excellent.
Some of the food was inedible and had to be sent back. We also saw a mouse crawling around the restaurant.
Unfortunately the food standard has dropped significantly. Service was good and manager was kind enough to remove an overly fried artichoke from our check. Hopefully it’s just an off night.
My partner and I ordered two salads and the charcuterie board, and both were quite pedestrian in preparation and presentation. Service was prompt and adequate. Drinks were generous and well crafted. However, I had made a reservation much earlier in the day, had a phone call confirming the reservation, and then was informed on arrival that a large group was going to be occupying most(?) of the dining room, and that we had about an hour before they arrived. We were given the option of sitting on the “patio”, which we did, but it all seemed a little weird and unprofessional.
There are too many other options in the area that would probably provide a better informal dining experience.
I don’t think I will be returning, nor would I recommend Sulmona to friends.
It is way too loud. The food is good, but the prices are high. There is better food at better prices in the area.
Great Caesar salad with Salmon
We went to Sulmona on a very rainy Monday evening, so it was close to empty. Hence the noise level was low. The food was very good. My husband had the spaghetti ala chitarra which he hadn't had since his Italian mother made it for him. He pronounced it "excellent." I had the Boar ragu and liked it a lot. Our server was new, but very sweet and attentive.
Excellent food, great spot to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Cool decor, tasty (and a little pricey) menu. Cheers to both our server and the kitchen who worked around my seafood allergy and cooked a few things separately so I could enjoy them. That really took this place from great to excellent.
Half of our group loved everything, half loved the food and general ambience but were thrown off by the trains, rattling below us, dining with us. I was with the half that thought it added to the atmosphere and was a great addition.
Inside is amazing, but sitting outside it can feel like you’re sitting above a steam engine the entire time because the mbta vent is right under neath you. Every time the train passes you have to stop talking because you can’t hear anything.
We visited the restaurant with a group for dinner. The restaurant's service was outstanding. They were more than eager to help us select the wine and gave us as many tastings as we asked for. The food came out promptly and the server kept an eye on our needs. I am not sure if it is because the restaurant was relatively empty or if that is the level of service to expect from them? We were a group of seven and were able to find a table on a Saturday evening by reserving it just a couple of hours earlier.
I am not sure if the availability of the table was a tell tale sign, however, the food and their wine selection wasn't that great. We ordered a bunch of different items and all of them were mediocre to slightly better than that. Nothing to write home about. I found both my pizza and the beet salad to be very salty. There were a reasonable number of wines on the menu but none that appealed to us. Overall an a-ok experience. Most likely will not return.
The food was really good but it was soured by the service we received when we arrived. I had a reservation for table of 9 but when we got there, they had nothing on file. I showed them the opentable reservation and the host/manager said all he said was that have nothing listed. So we showed him that clearly there’s an issue if I have a confirmation and they have nothing. He didn’t even offer to help us until we asked if there was anything available. They insisted that they had a party of 10 that had a reservation and we would be bumping them but seated us anyways. They made us feel very unwanted. If I didn’t have a big group with me, I would have left.
After being seated, I checked my email and saw that I received the points for the open table reservation ten minutes before I arrived. My thoughts are they mixed up the reservations and made us feel like the idiots. Otherwise I wouldn’t have received the points if no one checked. I just hated feeling like we were unwanted and felt like we kept getting dirty looks from the host/manager.
Overall the food was good but they need work on their customer service. If you’re going to be a host/manager, you need to at least pretend to care.
the quality of the food here is simply amazing!!! the service is wonderful but please ask for Roosevelt as your server. he is a natural! we enjoyed our evening immensely!
Outstanding in all ways, except noise. Lots of energy, but if the purpose of your meal is business (as it often is at lunchtime), be prepared to have to shout to your table companion(s) to be heard. This, of course, raises the noise level even further, and so it goes. This is the penalty for popularity and failure to provide noise-mitigating materials in an otherwise stunning interior design.
Worst lunch salad. 🙀
AC broken. Windows open. Mosquitos ate me while I ate dinner. Subway noise and restaurant noise made it hard to have conversation. ( by the way, I LOVE this restaurant)
Excellent service. High quality menu. Competitive pricing. This was a great dining experience for my wife and me.
Attentive and friendly staff, high quality food and service. I sat at the bar so can't comment on dinning but really enjoyed the food and watching bartender hustle.
Delicious, authentic Italian meal. Our server helped us pick a wine to compliment our pizza (try the Funghi Pizza!)
Sat outside. Had to ask two staff for salt/pepper, butter for bread. Seems outside dining option is a bit of an afterthought.
My parents are from Sulmona Italy and I have visited so many times as a child and adult. We thought what a great idea and went. First the place didn't look like anything like or even close to anything in Sulmona. The menu items neither. I have never seem a cubano sandwich in Sulmona nor anywhere in Italy. Our waiter was amazing and made our experience fun. But as my parents said...nothing was even close to anything in Sulmona and we all agreed!
The food was great, the only thing that’s kind of weird was the waitress kept asking how we were doing and whether she could take the plate away, and pushing us for the check. It was a little bit unpleasant, but I came here many times before and this is the only time I experienced this pushing service. Still a good place, good pizza and brunch
Best pizza ever. Had the special and it was incredible.
We were given a gift certificate to Sulmona. First I will say that the service was great. Our meals however just so so. I had the pollo parmigiana and it was a bit overdone with a piece of cheese on top that was hardly melted. The pasta was very undercooked. My husband had caponata and he said it also was too al dente and very salty. Drinks were great but the windows were open and the sound of the trains and traffic was too much to make this a relaxing experience.
I've eaten here many times and the most recent with 10 guests was not good. Everyone at the table complained that the food tasted a little off and while no one sent their food back its disappointing that during a business lunch no one enjoyed their food. Its not an inexpensive place to eat either and 3 rice balls for $13 is a bit much but they were the best part of the meal.
Always great take for lunch or dinner.
Nice place but my panini was overcooked and not very inspiring.
Gets a bit noisy, but service is very good and ambience is pleasant.
The food was great!! our server was not good. our water was always empty. He put in the wrong order for one of the people. he gave us desert menu and didnt even come back to see what we wanted to order. Food tasted good.
We ordered aranchini which was excellent and very tasty but it would have been a lot better if we had the bread to dip in the sauce but the waiter forgot by the time he brought it after we reminded him he brought it The tricolor salad was also very good and two pizza very delicious .
Love the cocktails here. We shared a flatbread, arancini, vegetable contorno and burrata. It was all delicious.
Our waiter was nice, but we had to flag him down (look for a while, try to get his attention, fail to get his attention, wait more, finally meet his eyes) every time someone wanted to order a drink. He did not stop by to ask us every so often. We were there for a while and spent over $200. At the end of the night we were finishing our conversation, had already paid the bill and wanted some water. He was no where to be found. We were unsuccessful in getting water and I was PARCHED.
So, nice atmosphere, nice food to share, nice cocktails, not great service.
Food was a bit oily and salty, waiters weren't as tentative as I would've liked.
Always superb - food, service, ambience!!
Sulmona is a good place to go with friends, provided you are ready to speak above the noise. It has a variety of menu options as well as beer. The service was good.
