Dinner was Excellent! The food was perfect, service was great. You can see a big difference in the management between the old Managing Partner and the New Managing Partner. A lot of the little details seem to slip by the new manager. We also do not see him walking around to make sure everything is perfect. Sullivans seems to have lost the Crisp professional atmosphere we always got in the past. Hopefully the manager starts adapting to the Sullivan tradition.
It was my friend’s birthday. The free birthday dessert was the best part of the meal.
They still do not have crab cakes. They also do not have non-alcoholic beer. The filet mignon was good but very expensive with no side unless you pay for a side.
Sullivan’s is always so consistent. Outstanding steaks, fabulous sides, and to die for dessert! On the occasion of my husband‘s 50th birthday, Sullivan‘s did not disappoint. Tamara, our server, was amazing and on point. We will not only return again soon, but we will certainly ask for her to be our server as well.
Below their normal standard. Bar was out of Bulldog, Grey Goose and Maker’s Mark all on the same night? Set a bad day and be from the start. Also, creamed spinach was much too cheesy. Some waiters wore masks while others didn’t. And we f those that did, wore them wrong by not coveting their nose. Have to question management’s control and policy.
When we are in Wilmington, we always dine at The Sullivan's Steakhouse. However, this time's dining experience was not up to its previous standards. We were greeted very courteously by the two hostess and we were seated quite promptly to our table. However, once seated our server came over introduced himself, asked if we were there for a special occassion - which we were. Yet, he didn't motion any interest what so ever. We placed our appetizer order, which were phenomenal - Highly reccmmend the shrimp eggrolls. Later on, we placed our main entree orders, I decided to add a cocktail to the order....seems like he was annoyed, I ordered it later in the order. Our entrees were done precisely well, yet our server really was very absent throughout our dining. In past experiences, we have always looked forward to the outstanding service from the servers.
Not up to par for what this restaurant used to be.
We come here often so we were especially disappointed. Our waiter rarely visited our table so we never were able to order another cocktail or coffee at the end. Our filets were insultingly small … we order them every time so we know what to expect, but our waiter wouldn’t know since he never came to check. I asked for spinach which never came. We were in need of a nice night out but Sullivan’s didn’t deliver.
The main courses were excellent. Let me start there. The salad was fresh and crisp, we also liked the spicy kalamari. The french onion soup was charred black at the sides.
My beef is with the value and the service. At fine dining prices, the service people should be trained in fine dining. They were not. Beginning with pouring water into wine glasses. Then pouring red wine into white wine glasses. Then bringing butter and leaving us with no butter knives (and no other knives) at the table, until requested. There was no change of silverware between courses. And I could go on. When entrees are priced between $30 and $50, fine dining service is expected. The sad part is that the server was actually training another server in all of the above. However, they were very polite, kind, friendly, eager to please, and brought additional bread when they saw we enjoyed it. Bread was very good. The fault is with the management (who probably also need to be trained at fine dining). I hope this review is helpful.
Very nice ambiance and excellent customer service
Menu was different then the last time due to the cost of seafood per the waitress. I was looking forward to crab cakes but they did not have crab or lobster on the menu. My husband had the cowboy steak and a side of garlic shrimp. They forgot the shrimp and it took about 10-15 minutes to get them after we already had our food. The steaks had really bad charred taste on the outside, which was a first, we never had that on our steaks here before. I had the banana foster bread pudding and I got a corner piece and it was mostly hard. The best was the warm bread, and broccoli tonight.
It was very calm. And our waiter was excellent.
Very good steak and sides, service was good.
Server was very nice, but she forgot to bring bread/rolls, refill water glasses. I had to ask for a second drink. My lamb chops were good, but receivedthree tiny chops. For the price, you would expect larger chops or at least four chops. It was our 25th wedding anniversary dinner. We mentioned this to our server, in addition to telling open table. A complimentary dessert , for example, would have been appreciated. For a bill of $150.00, we expected more. Have been to this Sullivans many times; this is the first we were disappointed.
Our waitress was extremely efficient and timed all our food delivery perfectly. Food & drinks were superb. One minor critique - would have preferred the potatoes au gratin to be thin sliced as opposed to "chunky" - personal preference only!
It was a very poor experience. The food was not hot, the portion were very small, the quality of the food was very poor. We eat out all of the time and Sullivan’s will be completely removed from our list.
Birthday….Angelica the hostess was charming and our waiter I believe his name is Joseph was very nice accommodating.
$24 for a martini? Are we in NYC? Also, they were out of half the items on the menu, including bread for the table.
Finally the cappuccino was like warm milk. They have the name on the outside, but the place is a overpriced mess.
Birthday for my wife, we have been celebrating Special Occasions for years at Sullivan’s and this was our first So So experience. Some of the things I can except because of Covid like no lobster and crab for which we went for.
But service was slow, my strip steak was not up to their standards that I have had. Had a chip on the lip of my drink glass, the wrong potato came out. Not a good night for my wife and I and Sullivan’s
Thank you John Hahn
Appetizers came out at different times over 10 minutes and the Oysters Rockefeller came out cold. 3 people ordered different steaks and my Mom got hers the way my son ordered his and vice versa. There were potatoes on the plate even though they were requested to be left off. The broccoli and the asparagus were overcooked. We had glasses of wine before dinner and weren't able to get the waitresses attention for refills during dinner. By the time we were offered refills, we had dessert menus in front of us. I usually love coming to Sullivan's, but this experience was not what I've come to expect. They definitely need to step up their game.
Quality and Service was very poor. Even heard the manager referring to customers as F***ing customers. Not the same Sullivans anymore!
good wait staff, attentive and knowledgeable. I would like to eat here again and try something other than steak. They cooked the steaks perfectly, just want to work through the menu.
For what it's worth the bernaise sauce they served with my filet was poor. It was thin, lack the real bite and richness of a well made bernaise. Small issue but this sauce can be tremendous when made properly and add immensely to a meal.
Food fair to good
Had great time. Great food and excellent service!
We are outside. It was very noisy ( as expected) but the food was very expensive and honestly not worth it. I ordered the 18 oz Wygu beef - $69 - very grisly.
Food was great
Sullivan’s my neighborhood kind of place, love the food, environment and the staff is great!!!
My $50+ filet was overcooked. I wanted Worchestershire sauce, but they had run out of it. There was a long time interval between receiving my entree and receiving my side dishes. Have had both good and bad experiences over the years. Last night was a real disappointment.
Only exception was the mushrooms were very salty.
The $50 deal they have is the absolute way to go
Our Anniversary but did not let them know ahead of time. Service was great, but felt the vibe was staid. Food was okay - most everything else was better than the $55 ribeye.
First, there were maybe 5 tables seated during our dining experience. I asked for a bottle of still water only to have to wait over 10mins to receive it upon the waiter asking “You don’t want water” when he noticed we had no water and I replied with “we ordered a bottle of still”. We ordered our drinks (Cosmo and a double Tito’s with Sprite and a splash of cranberry). When we got our drinks the Cosmo had way to much lime and the double Tito’s had barely any alcohol in it. Told the waiter (Christopher) and he said it was a double but got me a shot from the bar to add to my drink as opposed to having it remade correctly. At $21 per drink (had 3) I feel like there is no excuse for a light pour on a double shot drink. We then ordered cheesesteak egg rolls…they came out warm at best and had noticeably been sitting in the kitchen for awhile. We then ordered two filets (8oz and a 12oz) with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The steaks and asparagus were cooked perfectly but the garlic mashed potatoes were warm at best. Christopher was extremely inattentive but proceeded to ask if we wanted boxes while we were still eating our meals. Never mentioned dessert options or anything so I got the impression he just wanted us to leave despite the fact there was only 5 tables (at most) he was waiting on. I’ve eaten at high end steak houses across the country (not that Sullivan’s qualifies as “high end”) but this had to be one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered, from customer service to food. I would never recommend this location to anyone and will share this experience with people in efforts to persuade them from ever dining at this location again. Overall, it was a disgrace for a $270 meal.
We have been to Sullivan's many times and this time it was a bit off. Highly recommend the Cheesesteak Eggrolls and the Mac and Cheese. Steaks were not great, did not seem to be high quality for the $$. Also, service was lackluster. Our server did not come back and check on us and I was going to add something to my meal but the appetizer came out and then immediately the main course with no visits from our servers just people from the kitchen dropping items on the table and then scooting. We were in and out in under an hour, not exactly fine dining.
The three of us got the price fixe meals. Our server brought our meals before we had our soups or salads. We told them we were not ready for our steaks until we had our soups. Two of the soups we had to send back because there was so much pepper that we were choking. We opted for salads instead. Again, the server brought us our steaks. We told her we had just gotten our salads. What a fiasco. When we did finally get our steaks they were ok. We told the waitress we had been there long enough and would like our desserts to go. They put ice cream on the bread pudding in a cardboard box. By the time we got home it had melted and was leaking through the box. Not a great experience.
Always a good choice, and sometimes great - the server makes all the difference and Elizabeth was amazing! My only issue is the cleanliness of some of the interior, spotty silverware, crumbs on seats, etc. Nothing major but for the price I expect some of these details to not be overlooked.
Long dinner service, way overcooked chops but corrected proptly. Sad to see Sullivans change to shorts/shirt type of restauarnt with low quality service. Used to be way better. For the prices i would expect way way better service.
From the time we walked into Sullivan's the wonderful experience began. The ambience was wonderful. The host, her name escapes me was so great and pleasant; she created a card for my best friend's birthday since that is what we were celebrating. The busboy who served us water and bread was very nice and pleasant as well. Now onto our server, Tolani, she was awesome! She was personable and made great suggestions. Checked on us and was overall pleasant. The food was scrumptious from appetizers, entrees to desserts. This was absolutely the best dining experience we had since visiting Wilmington, DE. If we are ever back, we will definitely place Sullivan's Steakhouse on the itinerary. Thank you Sullivan's team for a wonderful and pleasant experience.
I have been to Sullivan's many times but the quality of food is going down fast. I'll start with apps. The jumbo shrimp were small, presented on a big plat and they were dry. I have had better frozen ones. The scallops were small, sandy and tasteless. The baked potato was well over cooked and because I don't like anything on it the inside was dried out and I couldn't eat it. Ordered side of brussel sprouts and they should have just said cabbage with bacon. It looked like a coleslaw and again had cheese on it. I told the waiter I can't do dairy. The wifes steak was not medium, overcooked tough and tasteless. You can't always avoid how tough meat is sometimes but just throwing salt on it does not make it taste good. The asparagus again was to have no dairy and it came out with cheese on it. To top this off the Latte was cold, ok I'll say warm. I am trying to think what good experience I had because the waiter had to be reminded a few times of things we asked for. I give places a few bad experiences before I stop going. This is strike 2 and unfortunately it was bad. Come on Sullivan's. Macaroni Grill you are killing this brand. It has been going down for a few years now. For $212 I could have had better food for half that price.
Great food and service! Was a little disappointed they were totally out of crab meat. Highly recommend!
