Max is a divine server. He anticipated our wants and needs while maintaining a delightful sense of humor.
My mother myself and my significant other went there for my birthday spent $300 on dinner for the three of us my steak had to be re fired twice and was so dry by the time I finally got to eat it that it was just unpleasant ordered it medium it came out so rare that the external surface of the steak was cold the first time manager was very apologetic but in no way really all heard anything exchange for the lack of quality associate with the experience overall not a very pleasant way to spend my birthday
Our server was excellent. We came for lunch and they let us order off the dinner menu since what we wanted wasn’t on the lunch menu. They even went the extra mile to do a special chocolate sauce plating for my husband’s 40th birthday cheesecake.
Always delightful. New weekend brunch menu is a treat.
Excellent steaks and sides. Attentive and friendly service. Will definitely keep this on our Tucson favorites list.
Old school, top quality steakhouse. If you watch old movies or are over 50, this will harken you back to the days when dining was an event and not just food.
If I’m in Tucson, you’ll find me at Sullivan’s, and I can eat ANYWHERE.
Excellent food, superior customer service, calming atmosphere. I dine here often. Have I had a sub-par meal here? Yes. BUT, they made it right and instantaneously corrected the error. It doesn’t get any better than that.
The King Crab was outstanding. The salad was saturated in dressing. They called me earlier in the day to confirm my reservation and I asked if they had King Crab today just to verify since we were celebrating our son's graduation from UA and that is his favorite food. They confirmed that they had it and then when our waiter is taking our order he says "we are out of king crab". Turns out they actually had it but if I didn't tell him they already confirmed that they had it we wouldn't have got it because he hadn't checked with the chef. It was not very busy at all but the server was not very attentive. There was a dessert on the menu that says it's gluten free and the server still insisted that he had to check with the kitchen to see if it's GF.
We were a party of four celebrating a 25th wedding anniversary. This was our guests first time at Sullivan's and it will be their last as will it be ours. My husband and I had eaten at Sullivan"s about 5 times in the last 6 years. However, we had not eaten there in the last 3. Something has majorly changed with this Restaurant chain. There was only one steak cooked as requested and it was given to the wrong person. One dinner the Lobster was left off. One of the 4 steaks was so dry our guest couldn't eat it. It took almost twenty minutes to get the correct orders back. I had raved about the Sullivan's potatoes as they were wonderful in the past. These were barely warm, Very, very dry and had a taste of freezer burn as if they had been frozen to long. None of us ate the potatoes. I have to say this was probably one of the worst meals I have ever had. We were there over 3 hours waiting for our appetizers, salads and main course. The restaurant was very quiet and why it took three ours to get through dinner was troubling. I complained to the manager and he was very nice and took all the dinners off our check. I would not recommend Sullivan's to anyone after the experience we had. Our 25th anniversary was less than memorable.
made reservation but had to wait 35 minutes after checking in.
Ordered the rack of lamb med to well. It came I cut into it and blood ran out.
Since you paid prime prices not sure I’ll go back.
I don’t think I’ve ever had worse service at a restaurant in my life. Thinking this would be a good place for a special occasion, we were sorely disappointed. The only service that was good was the refills on water. Two of the entrees were served however there were no knives present. We had to flag down wait staff to request- also inquiring about the other two dinners and sides- which came much later. We even had to grab wait staff to clear dishes- as staff including management were oblivious to our situation. The food was very well presented and tasty, however the service was so bad it affected the occasion significantly. It’s very disappointing that when you go to a high end restaurant and get this poor of a service level, you’ll definitely think twice about returning. On a positive note, they did adjust the bill significantly after all of our complaints, however I would have rather had a better experience.
Everything was brought to our table hot and the way it was prepared was exactly what we ordered.
We wanted a special meal for mother's day and thought we would splurge a little and spoil mom. The hostess told us that we would likely be seated closer to our reservation time. Completely understandable. My son and I arrived 30 minutes early so we sat at the bar. I ordered a glass of wine and appetizers from the bar menu which the bartender recommended. Shortly after we were informed that there were no menu items available other than the brunch menu. Not a big deal. Soon after, we were called that or table was available. I completely appreciate the request for seating in the"library". My husband and daughter showed up as a waitress was trying to balance the wobbly table. In efforts to do so, my glass of wine spilled on the table and some on my pants. She couldn't fix it. All throughout the dinner the table wobbled as we chopped our salads and sliced our steaks. A man in a suit served a portion of our meal and I commented we were having trouble balancing the table. I guess he didn't hear me since he did nothing about it. I tried to make this a pleasant experience for Mom but my choice in restaurant was obviously flawed.
Now the food. The shrimp and lobster bisque was well liked. The wedge salad was good to. The ceasar salad had brown pieces of romaine... not fresh. The New York steak was tender but salty. The asparagus was a bit overcooked. The Fillet Mignon Eggs Benedict was delicious. The Lamb Chops was delicious. The Prime Rib was edible. The cheesecake was a hit but the banana pudding was awful. The keylime pie was too tart and nearly inedible.
This brunch was a hot mess. Good place for quick lunch but not for special occasions.
I never leave negative reviews, but Mother's Day was truly a disappointment in that the service was incredibly slow and the restaurant was very loud...not energetic, LOUD. The food was good, but no one seemed to understand our need to move things along with an 88 year-old in attendance. Two hours to eat a 3 course prix fixe meal is at least 45 minutes too long - especially as people who arrived after us left before we did.
Our party of 3 was celebrating a Mother's Day Brunch at Sullivan's. We had reservations and had a very brief wait for our table after arrival. The restaurant was almost entirely full but the noise level was moderate and not distracting or annoying. I'm hearing-challenged but could hear the waiter without asking him to repeat himself. Our server was outstanding - attentive, polite and congenial. To start we all ordered Bloody Mary's which arrived promptly. They were excellent and not too spicy. For appetizer, we all ordered the Lobster Bisque. It was good but could have been improved with a shot of sherry which I guess we could have ordered separately. Each of us ordered a different entree so we could share and sample. I had the 12 oz prime rib R-MR Oscar Style. It was good but seemed a little on the tough side. I would be surprised if this cut was actually prime grade. But the asparagus, crab and Bearnaise sauce was a perfect complement. Mom had the crab cakes eggs benedict which was excellent. Our daughter had the eggs benedict with filet mignon and that also was excellent. We finished our meal with dessert. The Key Lime pie and NY Cheesecake were both excellent but we all thought the cheesecake was the better of the two. Overall it was a wonderful Mother's Day experience. Highly recommend Sullivan's.
The food is very good (sans the potato casserole), the service is nice and professional, the atmosphere should have been "good old fashioned Frank Sinatra steakhouse", but ... we had the worst table in the restaurant ... corner table at the edge of the restaurant the porthole to the bar. Clash of the music styles, and Frank was put in his place (even though we were in the restaurant). Obnoxious noise was the result, but for the company would have spoiled the evening.
Hat's off to Manager Jose and Server Josh for the best dining experience we've had in Tucson. Start to finish it was outstanding. As Chicagoans, we appreciate a fine steakhouse and Sullivan's is at the top of the class.
Too noisy. Caller tried to talk me out of reservation twice because of overbooking
Food always excellent, staff always knowledgeable and personable.
My steak was cooked to perfection however, part of my meal was missing. The server was nice, just never around. The restaurant was not busy, maybe that was the case. Anyway, I expected a lot more. Very disappointing experience. I won’t be back.
The service was not the level that I expected. Things were forgotten, arrived late, we weren’t greeted promptly or attended to all that well. I also didn’t enjoy seeing the server’s multiple wrist and arm tattoos either, especially when presenting a $50 meal or $200 bottle of wine. Maybe that’s unpopular, but it was unappetizing just the same. But the server was genuinely friendly and she seemed to have tried her best. All that being said, the food was delicious and the cocktails were equally good. For the price, I wouldn’t return however. The servers and hosts need to be trained on 5 star service and appearance.
Great food and service...... but a bit pricey..... Overall a great dinner
Sunday night is the time to go. Perfect amount of people so noise level low. Everything was delicious but steak a tiny bit under but no big deal because it’s better than over done. Brandon was the best server ever and it just was so very enjoyable for my husbands 50th. So much we booked Mother’s Day before we even left
Mack was an excellent server, and the food was delicious.
The food tasted great. The service was good. Over the many years eating at Sullivan's in several cities you expect the best with everything. However, this time I was a little disappointed an felt they fell short for the price.
Had to ask for bread with meal several times. Had to ask several times together refills on our drinks. Very unimpressed.
Food and menu selection was superb. Our waitress Mo was absolutely wonderful. We took her recommendation on cut and style of steak and she was totally on target. Each time we dine at Sullivan’s we’re more and more impressed.
We went for the Easter Sunday Prix Fixe prime rib dinner. Our reservations were for 4 PM- I chose that time because brunch ended at 4PM. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told that brunch was still ongoing, so please be seated in the bar, which was fine. When we were seated about 10 minutes after 4PM, we explained we were interested in the Prix Fixe Easter dinner that was advertised on the website, and the server told us there was no such thing. He told us that Prime rib Prix Fixe ended at 4 PM; they went to regular full-priced menu after 4 PM! If that was, in fact, the case, the website was misleading. (I had even received an email with a link to Easter dinner.) I explained what happened with the website to the server, and he said he would check with his manager. When he came back, he told us he could serve us the prime rib special, but it would mean an extra wait for our food, because they were putting the brunch food away....in other words, it was a warning that we would be creating a problem in the kitchen. If it were my restaurant, I would have told a customer like me, "Certainly, we will extend the promotion to you under the circumstances," without any warning about the service. He would have created a happy and grateful customer, instead of one who felt cheated. Also, keep in mind that they serve prime rib every single day, and they had prime rib available to serve right away, IF I wanted to pay full price, so even the veracity of his statement about a delay was questionable. I was not happy with the server, or the restaurant, as a result. We chose other entrees, but it was not what we came for, or really wanted. We have eaten here twice before, and this was the second time we had a problem. We won't be back.
Easter dinner. Excellent food & service.
Max was our waiter. Said he'd bring bread while we waited for meal. Never did, even though he was asked twice more for it. My wife's and my meals, steaks, were cool. Manager did offer replacement, but we'd already eaten half and our guests were also half done. Wasn't worth the wait. Asked twice for more water, finally had to stop another employee and asked her to get more water. More than 10 in. wait for cocktails while originally looking at the menus.
Will return, but not have this waiter! Food taste was great as usual. Menu selections were super. Worth the trip and cost. Guests did thoroughly enjiy it a it was their first time.
Our meals were not very warm. The lady next to us sent her food back for the same reason. The service started out a little slow. The waiter kept our change for his tip. He asked about it,but I was surprised he kept it and I wanted to add to it for the tip.
We have dined at Sullivan’s several times and have dined there with friends. We have dined at places where the wait staff asked if we wanted our change, but, they were not at the same level as Sullivan’s.
We will return but are worried that the restaurant is not the same as it was in the past.
Everything was nice but felt it was expensive to go there more than once a year.
Price fixe menu had too many costly add-ons
We both enjoyed seafood, for a change. Eggs and crab cakes (with lovely crisp bacon on the side - good recommendation) and stuffed shrimp. No left overs. We did enjoy the bisque, and my husband particularly enjoyed the desserts. The Easter Special was a good deal - and we also enjoyed Bloody Mary's on the side (one spicy, one less so). Lovely lunch!
We went to the Easter meal and the 3 course selections all looked delicious! Our choices were fantastic, as were the mimosas! Service was slow, most likely due to the huge crowd for the holidays. It's not an issue when we visit on regular days. Very classy establishment. A Tucson must!
The filet mignon eggs benedict was cold when I got it and the eggs were hard boiled, not runny. I did not say anything because we waited quite awhile before we got our meals and I did not want to wait any longer.
John our server was great, the food was excellent.
It was our first visit to Sullivan's and it will be our last. The first thing they did was Place us in a booth right next to the waiter station where every time a person went through the door they had to yell corner. We waited at least 15 minutes for our cocktails and had to ask two different people to deliver them. Our waiter was pleasant enough but when we got our food my steak was tasty but not warm the bearnaise sauce I ordered was cold the Hollandaise sauce for the asparagus was cold the asparagus was very thick and rubbery. Their shrimp with lemon garlic and havarti cheese with outstanding one of the best appetizers I've ever had. All in all it wasn't worth what we paid for it and it was very disappointing we were looking forward to a pleasant evening and certainly didn't get one.
Excellent place to celebrate our anniversary.
Food was delicious and the service was great, very friendly and accommodating to substitute in my meal when asked. Beautiful atmosphere also.
It is spendy, but well worth it for celebrating our 52nd anniversary.
Our waiter,Max, did a great job. The food left much to be desired tho. Presentation was just not good, didn't look appetizing, but my steak was perfect. Spouse's tuna mignon was ice cold throughout even though he realized it's supposed to be rare. Boxed it and gave to our dog, and he enjoyed it. New owner means the manager needs to be more on the ball. The restaurant was dusty and needs some attention. My spouse sat on a riped booth seat. Sad to see the restaurant decline.
We'd had some problems at prior meals. Happy to say this time the only problem was a somewhat inattentive server. The food was outstanding and love their new chocolate desert.
