    We have been there a few times and had no complaints. This time we were seated in a booth next to the kitchen and we heard too much kitchen noise. Plus that area was very cold, one row further towards the front it was comfortable. The food was still excellent, but if we return we will not accept the booth or table they take us to unless we like the location.

    All was good except our food came not hot...so we sent it back and they heated it up and it was great

    Our first time dining here and most definitely the last. Celebrating a birthday, we anticipated a fine-dining experience. The ambiance is lovely, but our food was dreadful. We selected the seafood tower as our appetizer. Although it was nicely presented, at $150, we expected top quality, but it was subpar, not at all fresh, and disappointing. Our table-side wedge salad was drowning in weird tasting dressing and very large chunks of very salty bacon, was not at all pleasing. Our main entrees, both priced at a high-end dinner house rate were the worst part of our meal. The lobster thermidor had a minuscule amount of diced lobster with mostly breadcrumbs and an off taste that was stuffed in the lobster shells. The crab stuffed shrimp was tasteless, rubbery, and burnt on the top. They were so bad that we had to send them back. The two sides were grossly overpriced when compared to the poor quality. The lobster-garlic mashed potatoes were so salty and odd tasting that we sent them back, too. The creamed spinach was average and we took it to go. The server took a longtime to check back and so did the manager on duty. Although our waiter was pleasant, as was the manager, it didn’t compensate for the overall disappointing and unpleasant experience. The service was too slow and poorly orchestrated. This was baffling as the restaurant wasn’t very crowded. We were there 2.5 painful hours. The price of our entrees was eventually reversed, as was the lobster-garlic mashed potatoes. We were offered desserts on the house, which we took home. The key lime pie was average, but the carrot cake was dry, overly sweet and not edible and went in the trash. Life’s a journey, looking forward to our next dining adventure, but it won’t be at Sullivan’s.

    Service was actually quite good. We were there for a birthday celebration and the highlight was a complimentary dessert. However, dinner took forever to arrive and the steaks we ordered were mediocre at best. Very expensive for the quality. A side baked potato was $13! Steaks were $75 and up. We knew the prices, not a surprise but the quality has just gone down and I doubt we will give them another chance. I will say I do enjoy the ambience of the dining room. It’s nice to see a place still has and observes a dress code.

    This was our first visit to this establishment in celebration of my wife’s new job. I had requested a dozen white roses on OpenTable when I was asked if I had any special requests. I mistakenly assumed it would be taken care of at that point. I realize apparently there is not sufficient communication between OpenTable and the restaurants with whom they work. It’s my fault for not calling Sullivan’s directly to ensure this had been accommodated. I fully expected it to be added to my bill. Upon arrival, I did quietly mention it to the hostess, who gave me a nod of affirmation, and led us to our table. There we saw that a few rose petals had been scattered about. That was it. Not a giant deal, although I was embarrassed, and disappointed that my request had not been carried out, nor had anyone reached out to me directly to confirm. Secondly, I saw two different people in there with T-shirts and ball caps on. There’s a sign posted by the front door that reads “proper attire is required.” The sign is useless if there’s no one inside who enforces it. I was dressed in a suit and my wife in a nice dress and we felt it cheapened the ambience seeing people dressed like they were at Famous Sam’s. First, we had the oysters to begin our experience. There was a lot of grit. They need to be shucked better so there isn’t the risk of cracking a tooth while enjoying them. Next, I ordered the bone-in filet mignon which, unequivocally, is the best I’ve ever had. What I did not like was the dull steak knife that was served. I had to hack through it. All of this said, my wife and I will absolutely be back. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the food, grit notwithstanding, and the service was fantastic. I hope these comments can serve you in some capacity and we look forward to returning.

    Great food, we had ribeye steaks, Caesar salad for me and poke stack for my husband and wonderful creamy creme brûlée for dessert. Our drinks and bread came almost immediately and the service was spot on. The kind of service where they’re there when you need something but it doesn’t feel like someone’s looking over your shoulder. Absolutely loved our evening.

    Shawn did a great job with service by anticipating our needs and leaving us to talk but checking back. And besides he’s a good southern boy from Birmingham! Food was superb, steaks seasoned and prepared as asked. Good time for my father-in-laws 90th birthday!

    While the service at this restaurant was good, the overall experience was disappointing. The cleanliness left much to be desired — there was old dirt and leftover food under our table, and the air vent nearby was noticeably dirty. For an establishment positioning itself as upscale, the quality and presentation of the food were poor and did not meet expectations. With better attention to cleanliness and higher food standards, this place could better justify its upscale reputation.
