Our server was fabulous (Amirar?) but the kitchen always has problems at Sullivans - soooooo slow. Three out of four appetizers finally came out. The fourth appetizer didn't appear after another 15 mins - we had to ask where it was. It finally came out but was incorrect so had to be sent back. Kid's burger had to be sent back - took about 30 mins for a new one to appear. But Cody the manager was on top of things and made up for the poor service from the kitchen as did Amirar. 5 stars to Amirar and Cody.
My steak my not prepared as ordered. It was a 16oz ribeye and I ordered med and came out med on one end and well done in the thinner end. I would expect a hand cut steak at a restaurant of this caliber to be evenly cut. My wife had a filet and is was cooked as ordered but not a lot of flavor. The key lime pie was clearly made a few days ago given the texture of the crust. Service was ok but you could tell our waiter was not happy when we did not order any alcohol. Our bill before tip was 145, so still a substantial bill. Even though we were not happy I left a 20% tip. This is our second time at Sullivan’s and given the differences in each visit we will not be back.
We made a reservation a week in advance. When we arrived after sitting in line for valet, we were told valet was full and when I asked where we should park, the attendant said well there is a parking deck behind this building(pointing to building across the street) if it’s full, I don’t know what to tell you. Ok so there was a street fair and we will over look. We get inside to be told they were really busy and yes they were and would be about 25 minutes. Ok we will be fine so we went into bar that was packed and super loud! After 30 minutes we asked how much longer, we were told you are number 3 on list. Ok... put on your patient pants....after 50 minutes we were not happy and my husband started to get irritated w the hostess. We were seated quickly and rob manager came over and apologized.... were they did try to remedy the long wait for a 2 person reservation that had been booked for a week, they needed to do better in turning people away from walk-in business. It was loud and crowded and for the price point I expect better.... if I wanted loud and crowded .... Texas steakhouse would have been cheaper!
The food was fantastic! I will say! So I give it 3 stars!
Best steak in the area! We jad a great time for our first anniversary. Thank you!
Consistently good high quality steaks.
I always enjoy a nice dinner at Sullivan's Steakhouse. The bar is amazing, the drinks are good, but prices are a bit high in my opinion. Dinner was excellent, steak was cooked as ordered. The waitress would disappear occasionally while we were left with no water but that happens. Overall I love Sullivans and will always be a customer.
Thank y’all for making my birthday dinner amazing ! The food was outstanding and the service was even better !
The service was the best part, Steven was awesome especially since my husband loves magic. He outweighed the negatives!
Sullivan’s is our go to for my wife and I’s birthdays and anniversary. We had a great experience and meal as always but the kitchen was pretty slow last night. Assuming due to two private events being held there at the same time.
Overall we had a great experience because of Michael our server. Otherwise weren’t too impressed for a restaurant of this caliber to serve two of the four steaks at the table way undercooked and then take a really, really long time to bring them back to the table!
Wonderful service! Go there for lunch great experience!!
Anniversary dinner was very nice.
Great food. But only on special occasions as it is very expensive. Wait staff are very professional and food was superb. We sat near kitchen which was very cold.
Our waitress Kristen was amazing!!! Made the experience even more enjoyable she was incredible! Food was outstanding we will definitely be back!
Great food! Exceptional service!
First time, it was a really nice evening and the food was fantastic along with the service!!
Almost perfect! Had to remind for one side-dish and lemon for water never came. But the meal was excellent!
I'm so relieved to see Sullivans-level of service this time after a puzzling year of inconsistent services (never happened before last year). Though the terrible service we received a few months ago when we brought our friends who had never dine here before was still fresh in our mind, unfortunately. It will take a while for the bad experience to fade and get back to full pleasant memories again.
Colleen was super attentive to our needs and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Our server was phenomenal!
The mood is set once you enter the restaurant. Low light, great energy. The service was absolutely amazing. The food was even better. My wife and I had a great experience here. Definitely recommend treating yourself to a night out and this wonderful establishment!
The bench seat had a gash in it, and the springs were poking through. During the welcome at the table, another server interrupted and started handing off tickets for another table. Service was one excuse after another. The fish special we had to ask about. She said she normally doesn’t tell about it “because it’s a bad deal.” The food was boxed sloppily, and they told us it had been “because the guy is new.” Why don’t you re-box it properly? And since it was my salad you boxed, why not hold it until the end and not bring it bagged to my table so I....have to put it on the floor until I leave? When my medium steak is well-done, why say, “I’m sorry, because that guy (the griller?) is the good one.” It was replaced with a properly-cooked meal, but — all of this combines to an experience out of synch with a restaurant that has $70 steaks on the menu. If this is the new standard at Sullivan’s, I expect to see some real estate on the market soon.
It was an excellent meal. I had contacted the restaurant in advance to let them know it was my husband’s birthday and our grown children would be joining us as his surprise. They had the kids already seated when we got there and when we went to the table he was shocked. Multiple staff wished my husband a happy birthday throughout the evening. It was a wonderful overall experience!
Service was great and the manager resolved billing and wine issues. The meal was just ok and not quite to Sullivan’s quality. As a frequent guest I have high standards. None-in ribeye was extremely fatty, far in excess of favor and tenderness. One of the guests at my table had an over cooked filet and did not want to affect dinner for the rest of the group and send it back. Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback
The food is not worth the price. It was all fair to good food but our bill was a little surprising. We went for a birthday and asked for a drink that they were out of so they gave us two different drinks, which we didnt ask for, and then we had to pay for both. Our waiter had said that then being out was unacceptable so he gave us an additional one, not telling us that we would be charged for it. Same for the dessert, we did not want dessert but since we were celebrating a birthday our server said it was on the house, however we had to pay for that too. If you go here, make sure whenever they bring you something that you ask several times if its an additional cost, our mistake I guess.
Another great dining experience at Sullivan's. Steak was delicious as always, as were the new Cheddar/Bacon au gratin potatoes. Seems they expanded the menu since I last visited and I appreciated the additional choices. Service was impeccable as always. If I could afford to, I would eat at Sullivan's every week!
Everything was wonderful.
Disappointing experience.. uncharacteristic from what I understand. Everyone seemed disorganized, stressed, the kitchen was behind, food wasn't as good as what it should be for the $$$$. They did give us an order of spicy shrimp rolls (on the house) due to the kitchen delay. They were good.. as was the shrimp cocktail. My steak sadly wasn't worth the high cost.. dessert was good. No rush to go back, sorry.
The service was impeccable. It was our anniversary, and the server went out of her way to help us celebrate. She customized the seafood appetizer for us, which was appreciated. She was funny and engaging, and even gave us a souvenir photo. The dinner was good, but not great. My wife's filet was decent, but the "bone in" ribeye was thin and had hardly any bone! Both steaks were done to the correct temperature, but they weren't top quality.
I will say that compared to that other downtown Raleigh steakhouse (the one next to the high end sushi place) Sullivan's is better.
All in all, a good meal. I would go back, because of the service.
The side dishes were excellent. My daughter had to send back her filet because it was covered in pepper and she asked for it plain. My husband didn’t send his back and “dealt” with the pepper.. my rack of lamb was delicious. My other daughter had clam claws and it was miniscule. Liked Ruth Chris’ meal better
Sullivan's was delicious, as it always is. Our server was fantastic as well. My only complaint is that the leftover Cabernet goat cheese butter was not included with my leftover steak. Otherwise, fantastic visit, as always.
Great food, great service! The steak is a must, but we tried a few things at the table and everything was great!
Excellent food and service. It's been great every time we have come here.
Food was inconsistent, service was poor, very noisy
I think they should hold off on brunch and stick to what they do best. The place was practically empty and the service was horribly slow. They didn't bring part of our meal and when the items arrived...COLD.
One guest asked for syrup and they didn't have any...even the best of brunch places can wipe up a good syrup. If you want a good brunch, don't go to a steak house, go somewhere where light can flow in, service tends to be accommodating etc. We were very disappointed since our dinner experiences have been far more pleasing. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE for brunch!!
valet parking available -public parking lots also easy to get to. Steaks were excellent and Salmon was cooked perfectly. Recommend the Nutella Creme Brûlée if you love chocolate desserts. Staff is attentive and good for special occasions.
Sullivan's has consistently good food, but the service is hit or miss. Took more than five minutes before a server came to our table, which really is unacceptable at this price point. Also was served the wrong cocktail, and although it was corrected for free, it was just another miss at a restaurant that should be better. Also our preferred wine selection was not available, neither were several others. I'm fine with being out from time to time, but with such a relatively shallow wine list, it seems they should have more of each wine on hand.
So we were just here a week before on a friday. Much busier, s
Yet this past Saturday it wasn't as busy. The waitress was poor and took forever for food and food was over cooked.
Overall experience was ok. My steak was cooked improperly both times. Our waitress was absent when we needed a simple refill of water.
