Bad odor throughout the restaurant coming from downtown sewers. Not ideal if you want to enjoy your meal. Food was good.
The appeared busy but nothing out of ordinary.
The service was slow and our waiter appeared new or just not that experienced.
My wife and I both ordered the large Lobster tails.
They were undercooked or had a real rubbery texture.
We told our waiter who we did not see for a 15 minutes after meal was served, he apologized and brought us the check.
We will not return.
We loved the food and the ambiance and the service was outstanding
Celebrated Valentine's Day. Started in the bar, which was awesome. Good eats, good drinks, lovely and attentive wait staff. Then went to dining area. No service. Wait staff overworked. Ordered wine, starters, entrees, dessert according to menu. Our starters came, then everything else was brought. Not even wine yet. And the food was COLD. Our wait staff person was fine, but embarrassed. She got our win comped but we won't be going back, ever.
I would consider myself well versed as a Sullivan’s customer. The past 2 experiences have been anything but enjoyable.I’m disappointed.Sullivan’s has been my go to restaurant for as long as I can remember for celebrations such as anniversaries and birthdays.Last night we gave it another shot after our poor experience the prior time. Everybody deserves the benefit of the doubt. That occasion we asked for our leftovers to be boxed up which were our 79.00ea bone in aged steaks and 3 side dishes, as well as dessert. When we got home, we realized that the server had only boxed up the desserts. When we called, they said she was gone for the night but if we drove all the way back downtown they would give us a free appetizer. Umm, we live in west Omaha.
We decided to try again. I digress. After waiting ten minutes to order drinks, the waitress said, sorry, another staff didn’t show up so she’s super busy. out came out diet cokes. Actually they were cokes, and we waited another 5 minutes for a completely different server to remake them)
I had questions about purchasing the 90.00 chilled seafood platter, she was misinformed about what was on the platter and I’m thankful for inquiring a second time or I would have been disappointed. The menu stated lump crab, but she said it was a crab cake. Not a big deal, but I went specifically for the crab cake. I clarified and ended up ordering the crab cake plate instead because I was certain the chilled platter didn’t have a cold crab cake on it.
We ordered 2 iceberg wedge salads w/ bacon. Neither came to us with bacon, and after waiting again for the waitress we just ate it without it. We ordered spaghetti squash as our side. The manager dropped off our meal, no side, and ten minutes later had to ask again to be sent back bc it was undercooked. Our waitress said they don’t have a GM and corporate doesn’t know what they’re doing. She said she would comp a dessert. It wasn’t comped. So disappointed. We won’t be back. We need DeL Friscos!
Food has really gone down hill. Service was great though.
We arrived a few minutes early for our dinner reservation and were seated right away. Our waitress (Caitlin) appeared promptly and then took outstanding care of us the rest of the evening. Such a pleasant and efficient server. Food was outstanding as was the overall ambiance. Will be dining there again soon.
Sullivan’s was a wonderful choice for dinner before attending the Omaha Symphony. The food was delicious, and it wasn’t too crowded. Enjoy!
Our server was horrible. Took forever to get greeted. Then forever to get a drink menu. The night was so slow. I’m all about hanging out but get a drink to me! The food was great but your server needs to have a smile and come to your table. Disappointing in a $300 ticket.
The coat check was not available. We sat 10 minutes before we greeted and served water. Waitress seemed over booked.
Awesome Service, Great Food!!! I will visit again when I’m at home in Louisiana..
Food was not up to expectation service was average the server got our order wrong steaks were not cooked as requested overall very disappointing visit to a fine dining restaurant would not recommend this restaurant to friends
As a foodie and someone who loves Sullivan’s, I was disappointed in the service and the food. Some of our food was cold at service, our waiter was never around, even having to flag another waitress to get our waiter. He was very nice, but at this restaurant’s price point, I expected much more. I did tip high, but I am in the restaurant business and I know that income is super important! I’m hoping this was an isolated experience? The restaurant was not busy, so I am unsure why the service and the food was sub par at best!
Had an amazing time at Sullivans for my boyfriends 30th!
Enjoyed our evening and dinner! Waiter could have been more attentive, but we aren’t a very needy group.
Not very impressed with our waiter.
Going to preface this by saying I am sure if it were not for it being Christmas the situation would have been different and would give them another shot.
We went here for Christmas as we haven't had much time, between buying a house and some other issues, to be able to do anything for the holiday. I can imagine they were busy but from the start things were off. The hostess seemed a little lost when it came to me saying I had a reservation but we were still seated quickly all the same.
From there it was kind of a let down. Don't get me wrong the food was amazing but it was the service that kind of hurt things. The staff were super friendly but it seemed as though they were putting their attention elsewhere. Our waitress alone seemed more attentitive to the party of 8 to our left rather than our party of 4. During the whole meal my water glass was refilled once and the waitress had said she would get more bread, not a real necessity trust me, but we never got it. We got our appetizers and my soup in a timely manner but the main course came out in an odd sequence. After I ate my soup I was greeted with my amazing steak but that was it. The sides we had ordered did not come out with it. Leaving me, my wife, and her mother with only our protein part to the meal. Her mother also was missing a part of her chicken dish. The waitress tried her best to keep on it but it was still too long. After about 10 minutes the sides came out. We had ordered the au gratin and a lobster mac and cheese. The au gratin seemed a bit undercooked and the mac and cheese never came. Instead we got an incorrect plate of potatoes. The waitress could have sworn we had ordered that but we had not. She was very nice and removed it from the bill but when she offered to get a new order started we threw the towel in as we did not want to wait even longer. It was not a great end to the night.
Wonderful food and service!
Food was very tasty but expensive. The service we had was less than stellar and, unfortunately, detracted from the experience. If one is going to wait tables on Christmas Eve in an expensive restaurant, they should be deemed part of the evening and, as such, add value not take it away.
Our Christmas Eve family dinner was rushed and the food was sub-par. The steaks were rubbery and tasted boiled instead of seared. The waiter rushed through the service; we were out in under an hour and will not be returning. I do not recommend.
Great service!!! Plenty of variety for every taste ... all cooked to perfection.
There was a horrible smell permeating the restaurant . You could tell they were trying to cover it up. Food wArm when served. Very disappointed.
Always have great service and great food at Sullivan’s. Have never been disappointed.
My review is limited to one experience and that on Thanksgiving evening. Sullivan's is a decent restaurant with professional staff. Service was slow though they didn't appear to be very busy. My family each ordered the Thanksgiving meal (turkey and the traditional sides). The salad awesome, as were the sweet potatoes. The turkey portion was small and tasted gamey. We had to ask for extra bread. Our water glasses smelled like they'd been sitting, filled, for quite some time - no lemon. Dessert was quite good but we had to wait quite a while for it to a brought to the table.
Service, while generally good, felt rushed. The value ($42) for the Thanksgiving meal, was poor. Ironically, it was just about the cheapest dinner on the menu. If I had it to do over again, I would have paid a little more and ordered a steak or chicken. When I compare the value of this experience with similar Thanksgiving meals at area restaurants, I am disappointed. Too bad. I get the impression that this is a top drawer restaurant. I'll try then again sometime - just not on a holiday.
A lovely night at Sullivan’s. Caitlin was very knowledgeable about the menu though she wasn’t able to answer a question about the wine list. No biggie, as there were plenty of options to choose from that I didn’t need additional info, but for an expensive steakhouse I think if the server is unable to provide additional info on a certain wine then it would help to have them bring in a sommelier or manager with the appropriate knowledge.
Two small discrepancies in our bill when it first arrived at the table, but both were quickly remedied.
The food was outstanding! My Mom has their very affordable prix fix dinner; three courses for $46. I opted for the small filet (8 oz) with grilled shrimp added. The steaks were cooked to perfection and my side of Mac & Cheese was to die for.
Cocktail pricing was a little surprising. Ketel One is their “well” vodka at $11.50 for a mixed cocktail, but Dewars which I would assume is not their well is only 9.50.
All in all a great night with personable staff and incredible food.
Awesome food and service!
The food was excellently prepared and the service was exceptional. Thank you.
My wife and I have been going to Sullivan's every year, or more, for our anniversary. We noticed last year the decline in service and the amount of people at the restaurant but just noted it to maybe the time and day we were there. In the past, the place was packed and we had impeccable service. This year, the service was awful, the food was sub-par, and there was maybe 3 tables of people. We had to repeatedly ask for assistance, our server did not know the menu or wine list and when we did choose a wine, we were not made aware that there were other Merlot choices on the $46.00 menu special so we were charged $53.00 for a bottle of wine where there were comparable choices at $40.00 a bottle. We were overcharged on our checks and when we questioned our server, she gave us a false reason as the manager then corrected them because our server added extras on the check we didn't order. FURTHER, when we called the manager to address our concerns, we were promised a compensation/gift-card to come back and attempt to have put us back in "good-faith"...it is now 10/31/2019 and we dined on 10/17/2019...no gift card to date. We will never be coming back here for any dinner or special event as there are many other wonderful choices in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.
Always Excellent food and service.
Food is good but not the best. Our server Michael served everything properly, but he had no smile and talked so fast we could hardly catch every word he said. He didn't tell us the featured specials or the prix fixe menu until I asked, and didn't explain in detail. We had a little more expectation for a restaurant like Sullivan.
Entire Prix Fixe meal was delicious. Ordered the 8oz. fillet with asparagus and iceberg wedge. Oysters Rockefeller appetizer was also outstanding.
The waitress was so nice, I believe her name was Hanna, she was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Our steaks were okay as we felt that they were lacking flavor.
Price was decent value, but food was mediocre at best. Ordered the Wagyu strip, and definitely the least flavorful/tender Wagyu I have ever had. Salad, crab cake, and dessert were decent.
Excellent evening in all respects. It would have been nice if they told me there was complimentary valet parking when I called because I parked in a nearby lot for 15$.
Oustanding work by your team tonight
The four of us all loved our visit to Sullivan’s before attending Hamilton at the Orpheum. The food was fantastic. Our server, Katelyn, was attentive but not at all overbearing. I was glad that I had viewed the menu online beforehand. Two people ordered The Sure Thing, but if we weren’t already aware of it via the website, it would have been confusing. I expected a separate menu or at least something explaining what all was available for that option. Good value for 3 delicious courses. I ordered a glass of the “house” wine (my words, not Sullivan’s) and was surprised when we got the bill that it was $16 a glass. My experience at other restaurants has been that the house wine was the least expensive. So, now I know. I would happily dine again, better informed. High end atmosphere, excellent location, professional staff, delicious well-presented food. I was glad we chose a booth to avoid background conversations.
A very disappointing meal every way you look at it. Most important, the food was bad. The steaks were tough, lacked taste and flavor, and did not come out hot. It was a horrible food presentation. The sides were also horrible. The brussels sprouts were mushy and had so many hazelnuts on top, a really bad recipe and preparation. The seafood platter had low quality seafood. The service was horrible. The restaurant was almost empty and yet we were waiting constantly for everything and the waiter didn't know the menu. Was his 3rd day, and didn't even have a trained server helping. What a total waste of money! I even told the restaurant I was entertaining important customers and the whole thing was a flop. Bad food, bad service, bad ambiance. Will not be going back to that restaurant!
Great lunch meeting spot with customers. Service was perfect! We were able to have a business conversation and enjoy a wonderful meal.
