Sullivan's Steakhouse - King of Prussia Ratings and Reviews
Steakhouses are our go to for a nice evening out. This past weekend we left the teenager and preteen with the grandparents and drove to KOP for a day of holiday shopping followed by a nice evening out just the two of us. We made reservations on for 8pm for a table for 2. We tried calling at 630 to see if we could get in early and were told nothing was available. No problem, went to the hotel changed and came back at 750pm. Was told people were sitting and not leaving and it may be 15-20 more minutes. Ok we'll look at the menu and decide what we want so we can be ready to order. We got seated close to 810. Server comes out takes our order is apologetic about the wait, no issues. Within 10 minutes my Caesar arrives. Maybe 5 minutes later my spouse's Shrimp Cocktail arrives. Its now almost 830pm. We waited till close to 915pm for one NY strip and an order of Brussel sprouts. In the meantime the table next to us was visited several times - one set of steaks were incorrect and then another that were cooked incorrectly. Someone apologized profusely to the table next to ours and comped their steaks and sides and brought them additional glasses of wine. We had to flag down a busboy to get our water refilled. When our steak came out after 45 minutes it was cooked to the wrong temperature and wholly underwhelming. But what bothers me the most, no one except our poor server who clearly felt badly about what was going on, ever apologized. I almost think the managers were doing their best to avoid our table. Now I don't know why the kitchen had such a terrible night, but for the management it is inexcusable to me that no one ever apologized. With two kids we don't get out nearly as much as we'd like, let alone have a real night out and away. What was meant to be a romantic dinner for two turned into a let's just eat this because we are hungry and tired but by God we'd never come back here again. There is no excuse for a failure to ensure the hospitality of your guests. None.
Overall, we had a great dinner. Our server was very friendly and when she learned we were celebrating our anniversary, they brought out complimentary glasses of champagne. However, they couldn’t find the wine we ordered or the alternate they suggested but were very friendly about the process. Also, we ordered the roasted cauliflower as a side, which was supposed to have a caper vinaigrette, per the menu description, but ours was dry.
Celebrated with my neice her 20th birthday, just her & I. Wanted her to experience the dining experience here on her special day. From start to finish all was 100% perfect. Jonathan our server was attentive, friendly and right on cue. Thank you for the great evening celebration!
First visit since fire and extensive renovations . Looks like a different restaurant with now softer lighting and more subdued atmosphere.
Food quite good per usual. Value appropriate for high end steak house.
Negatives- attempted to be seated a one of 3 booths near entrance/kitchen, DESPITE explicit request on OPEN TABLE to NOT be seated there. Request either not read or ignored - either of which annoys me a lot. Was moved to centrally located spot after complaint so not too bad.
Service very pleasant but unfortunately not that attentive. Bread without prompt arrival and had to be asked for twice. Water refills sparse and delayed recurrently -need better busboy attention. Also very ambiguous lobster tail addition- quoted at 20 dollars but then charged 60 bucks -after complaint -reduced to 40 but still not clear why price quote did not correspond to final price charged.
Anyway- despite above issues, food as mentioned was plentiful, tasty, and timely. And that is the most important of course. We will not rush back but will likely return at some point in the future.
It is a shame that they are phasing out the sommelier- we will spend less for sure. It was also evident that they are reducing staff... at one point 4 tables around us went in-bused for over 30 minutes. Zach, our waiter, was phenomenal. But overall, service seems to have take a hit and we certainly miss the old decor. If the steaks weren’t so excellent we would probably spread our business to places like Capital Grille. But the flavor of the steaks can’t be beat. And Zach is an absolutely awesome waiter. As long as we are in his section, we are happy.
Let me start by saying that I’ve never written a restaurant review before. This was our second time going. With that being said, Sullivan’s is the kind of place that deserves an excellent review. It is an above and beyond experience! We live about 40 minutes away and will gladly drive here to dine again. Everything was top notch~ from cocktails, appetizer, salads, main course and especially service. Our server Jonathan was amazing- which only enhanced the already wonderful experience. The manager (as well as the Executive Chef!) stopped by our table to see how everything was. I can’t believe we’ve waited so long to come here. We are already looking forward to our next meal here!
Used to be a huge Sullivan’s fans but haven’t been back in a long time. Seemed the quality took a nose dive. We were actually headed to the Capitol Grille but I was overruled by my wife. The billboard on 252 got her. Anyway, we opened the place. The cocktails were good. The 2nd one seemed more potent. We split a Caesar salad and my wife had a rack of lamb and on the recommendation of our server, I had the bone-in rib eye. Both were very good. One down was the baked potato wasn’t ready yet. Mushrooms yummy. No room for dessert! We had the pleasure of sitting behind a couple who just got married! Lovely. We will be back
I will say everything was really good! But I ordered a drink and in the menu it said it cost $12 , but on the bio they charged us $13, also I'd recommend better soda and juices, soda wasn't good at all and juice was ok . but food was good our server was nice and on point .
We have eaten at Sullivan's many times but were disappointed in several aspects of the dining experience: 1) the waiter greeted us by telling us we were interrupting his coffee break! 2) the wedge salad was not as fresh, crisp or flavorful as others we've had at other restaurants, or as good as we remembered from previous visits 3) the NY strip was tough and not much flavor 4) the ahi tuna was mostly cooked through and not seared/rare as it should be. Admittedly we did not bring the issues to the server's attention, as we were with friends who we had invited for the first time and our experience is that taking orders back is awkward and disrupts the meal for everyone.
A great place for a wonderful meal! We had a wonderful experience with both the service (Travis was great!) and the meals. While the main dining room is a little noisy, you can still have a cozy conversation. The steaks were exquisite. We had a table side BLT salad that was very good as well. We will definitely be back!
Wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Service was excellent. Every member of staff who came to the table wishes us a happy anniversary. There were rose petals on the table when we sat down. We received a free commemorative picture with all the staffs signatures. Plus, a complimentary shared dessert for celebrating our anniversary. Will be going back soon.
We went to celebrate our 1st Anniversary. When we checked in the hostess greeted us by name and acknowledged our anniversary with well wishes. The server also did the same. From beginning to end the service was stellar, everyone was friendly. Tyler, our server, was very helpful in making selections . They took our photo to commemorate the evening with all of the staff’s signatures. The biggest surprise was the note we received a few days later from Tyler thanking us for choosing Sullivan’s to celebrate our special day. We will definitely be back.
This past experience at your restaurant was absolutely dismal. I never write bad reviews, nor do I complain about minor infractions because I know things happen. However, I cannot believe we actually paid for our meal. We had a reservation for 4 people at 8pm. It was not crazy busy by any means. I’ve been there when it’s been nuts. I will keep this short and to the point. (1) the wait between apps and salads was over a 1/2 hour. The salads did not come out at the same time. (2) the wait between salads and our meal was a solid 45 minutes AND our food was COLD. (3) while we did manage to flag down a person and get a manager - our food was reheated and my steak was warm in some places and cold in others. My husband ate his steak cold because the wait was so long. (4) I had to beg for water. (5) after our plates were cleared and another solid 1/2 hour passed we flagged down another manager and asked for coffee and dessert menus. He did bring us menus but couldn’t handle our order for two regular coffees and one decaf cappuccino. (6) cappuccino came to the table after quite a bit of time. The coffee took a ridiculous amount of time. It was almost laughable except my friends really wanted their coffee and the wait was - yes - ridiculous! Our waiter tried to make up for it with free dessert but honestly, we just wanted to leave. The only thing that was handled in a timely manner was the bill. Go figure. You guys got that right. We were so utterly disappointed that neither couple plans on EVER going back again. Oh - I should note that there were four other tables around us that were experiencing issues as well, while other tables seemed to be just fine.
As always, the staff was great. Our waitress, Alanna, was helpful, answering all of our questions and taking care of us. The food, of course, was delicious. I take my wife here for her birthday every year and I plan on doing so for the future. Great place for a date night.
