First, the "hostess: couldn't find our reservation made on "open table" 4 days earlier and confirmed. Second, the service from our "server", Maria. was totally non-exixtant, Third, our food was not good at all and nobody came close enough to our table to complain to so we picked at it, left it, asked for our check which was also screwed up, and left - Never to return.
Everything was fantastic,The only thing out of place where the portable AC units that were a little noisy but nothing unbearable. Overall we had a fantastic night.
The a/c was broken while we was there and there was a huge fan to keep everyone cool.
Service was great with Robert, sea bass was tasty it really small for 42.00.
We have been going to Sullivan’s for years. Tonight’s experience was not very pleasant. It began with fruit flies pestering us throughout the evening. 2 of our steaks were overcooked and an additional side was not delivered when our entrees were brought out and we canceled it. The waitress disappeared for long periods and could be seen standing and chatting with other wait staff folks and kitchen workers. No one seemed to be in charge. There were very few patrons in the restaurant and it seems like service and food prep quality should have been easy and better.
food was ok
Sullivan's use to be my go to place but the last two times I have been there I, we will not go back. It started at the valet, in which we had to wait a long time. it seemed they had lost the guys keys before me. When we got in we ordered steaks cooked medium with Oscar sauce. Two of the three steaks were well done, no red to be found. The Oscar was just a couple of crab pieces on top, no sauce. After the meal we went out to the valet and first the they guy had a hard time finding my keys, then took a very long time getting the car. It was about 9:30pm and we were the only ones so it wasn't like they were busy. When I did get my vehicle the drivers seat was soaking wet from the rain. Not sure how it got that way but my pants ended up soaked on the butt.
Not going back again.
Great place for a business lunch. It’s quiet, service and food is great. I will be back!
Our waiter Rob did a awesome job and he was very knowledgeable on answering our questions
This restaurant has declined in recent months. I was extremely disappointed in the service, food, and the fact that they ran out of several things. Not worth the money.
I had a really wonderful experience here. My Queen and I don’t get to get out as much as we’d like, but choosing Sullivan’s definitely helped us take advantage of the day. The food was delectable, and the service was impeccable. We definitely intend on visiting again.
We usually love this restaurant. Food was disappointing. Overcooked Delmonico steak; salad not initially as presented, had to go back and cook bacon; mold on bread; spinach was cold on the first plate but okay after steak was redone. Staff was very apologetic and attempted to compensate which was most appreciated. Service was very good.
Service and food were excellent. I will be back when the Stone Crabs are in season!
We have dined here many times before, and always enjoyed the experience. The server was in over his head...he did not get to our table for almost 10 min after we were sat. Our wine was not offered to be refilled (all while the servers around him were doing so). The food was not as good as it had been the times before. The restaurant was only about half full at the time as well, so I am not sure why they were having trouble. There was also flies at our table throughout the evening.
Food was excellent! Our waiter was a little forgetful, but overall, we had a lovely time.
Worst experience ever. Won’t go back. Food was cooked wrong twice. Waiter was missing for long periods of time. I asked to substitute for creamed spinach. The waiter brought me back creamed corn bc the substitution wasn’t allowed. So he chose a side for me. Because of the terrible experience, the mgr just offered to comp my meal. Which to my surprise, he was just going to take off my meal and not cook my meal right to order. The bill came and he still charged me and gave me an order to go - not the filet mignon I ordered. But the cheapest cut of steak - it tasted like hamburger meat. He just didn’t want to make things right as the mgr.
Food was great, but they ran out of NY strips since it was Queens Feast. There were also fruit flies after our food, which was kinda annoying and gross.
Service was good with the exception of the guy that seated us. The seat was wet with water and he watched while I took a napkin to dry it versus doing it himself and just walked away.
Ambiance was ok-was a little dark and too loud for me. The noise was from the large number of people dining and drinking, which really can’t be helped.
All considered, the restaurant is has great food and a great venue, but needs to get rid of the fruit flies and ensure tables are clean if they want to make diners’ experiences worth the cost.
The best steakhouse in the South End :) steaks were cooked perfectly, dessert was delicious too!
Great food and such a good deal for restaurant week. Amazing service and suggestions of drinks from our waiter
Disappointing. Maybe because it was Restaurant Week. Rushed service. Over cooked steaks (ordered medium rare, got well done), undercooked (cold) baked potato that we asked to be taken off the bill but was still there when the bill came.
My first dining experience at Sullivan’s. I heard very good reviews, however my experience wasn’t so pleasant. First, I had made a reservation for 3 and had to wait only to sit at a table for 6. Then the waitress was very rude and unpleasant. She messed up my order and then charged me and my guest card the wrong amount twice causing fees on our accounts. We knew we weren’t the only ones who felt the same way about our waitress because the next table were expressing the same. We came to partake in restaurant week but maybe another time will be a better experience.
Great service and wonderful atmosphere!
My husband and I absolutely love everything about Sullivan's Steakhouse. We've tried others in the city, and this is by far our favorite. The staff is amazing, steaks and sides are delicious, and the Bananas Foster will make you want to order at least 1 or 2 to-go.
You will not be disappointed visiting this restaurant!
let me start by saying that going into restaurant week I usually expect about 50% of the service and the food that I normally get a throughout the year. But this experience was just terrible from top to bottom. Jared our server laked any sense of serving skills. And the manager came over because our food was about an hour late. And made some lame excuse about the fact he couldn't discount restaurant week food.other the food was very good once we got it. The lack of attention and the disrespectfulness from the management staff was disgraceful.I have been to Sullivan's many times and it had the most exceptional experiences but this one failed get every sense of the word. I will contact their corporate office.
Overall had a great experience except they didn’t seem to want to honor my reservation at first. We felt like the hostess was ready to go but she checked with management and they said they had to honor it.
Absolutely incredible. The bone-in filet with Cajun butter... OMG!!
Food is great, the service was good. Nice restaurant
It was very good. Thought it was strange that The chefs special taste ice cream on menu flavor was vanilla.
The crabcakes were so good that it made the meal excellent! I will go back just for it very soon!
It was obvious our server was all about turning our table. She talked so fast none of the 4 of us could understand a word she said. She was moving so quickly she knocked over a glass of water. We will still return again and again. The food and value are exceptional.
Erin did an amazing job
Only complaint was when we first came in and the way we greeted
You do have a reservation don’t you?
Hi and welcome to Sullivan’s would have been better
Service waitress was great! loved the steak 7 cheese egg rolls and calamari to start off our lunch. My wife and I had the Business Lunch menu great price for starter , steak and side. Highly recommend Sullivan;s for lunch not crowded and great fast service.
Went to dinner with the family. I got the NY strip and it was cooked the way I requested. It was tender, flavorful, juicy, just delicious!! The mashed potatoes were pretty good. We didn't like the green beans at all!! I got bananas Foster bread pudding for dessert. It was so good! We took advantage of Charlotte's restaurant week. It was a good value. We'll definitely go there again for date nights and celebrations.
Underwhelming would describe our visit. This is our second visit to Sullivans. We returned due to the service and food quality. Our server Joe was quite pleasant and very effiicent. In fact, he was so efficient, the whole meal felt rushed. Our check was placed on the table as soon as dessert was served.
We dined during restaurant week, so the restaurant was crowded and very noisy, which was to be expected. The best part of the experience was the Knock-out Martini. We both ordered steaks. They were decent, but not really any flavor. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant and the green beans very bland. Not worth the price in my opinion.
Horrible! Went for restaurant week with one of my girlfriends. Server was fast and friendly. First course came to the table. Friend got the wedge salad and I had the bisque. Bread and butter came at the same time. We quickly noticed that there was no knives on the table. Had to wait for someone to come by when we asked for knives. We were told “we’ve been short on knives all night”. Second course came she had the filet asked for medium rare. Got rare. Literally only seared both sides maybe only 20 seconds each side on the grill. I ordered the ny strip. Asked for medium got well done. The manager came over and asked how everything was. We explained how her steak was rare and mine well done. I didn’t bother to get another but my friend asked for hers to be medium rare. Still came back rare. At that point we gave up and just wanted to leave. I am a certified chef degree and all and I would not of let this happen busy or not. Will not be returning. Dog’s were very happy with the leftovers!
Have eaten st Sullivan’s many times over the years. This is the first time the food was disappointing. New York strip steak was thin... over cooked... and chewy.
Dessert was delicious!
Our server, Dora, was excellent. Efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Food was good, but room was freezing! Manager eventually told us that they make it really cold, because otherwise it gets too warm later in the evening. Im not quite sure why the comfort of later guests is more important than mine.
Decided to come for restaurant week made a reservation for 8 and wasn’t sat until 8:30 which isn’t a big deal at all considering how busy they were. Server seemed very rushed but I guess that’s understandable considering how busy they were. I ordered 12 oz NY strip and my date ordered 8oz filet. When our food came out we were both served filets. I told the food runner and she took it back. About 20 minutes later our server came back and told us the food runner didn’t tell anyone about the mix up but the manager would bring it out when it was ready. The server ended up bringing it out and it hit the table after my date was completely done with her meal. Also I had ordered it MR however it came out at least medium or above.( mostly brown with a hot pink center) Chris came by and seemed to do a good job of smoothing things over, he apologized and invited us back for an event they have on thursdays he also said he would be taking 20% off of our whole meal, which seems slightly cheap considering we didn’t get to enjoy our meal together, and almost an hour after I had ordered I recieved an over cooked steak. But for us it was the thought that counted and we appreciated him stopping by to check on us. When we received the bill we noticed that only $7 was taken off out of $70 dollars worth of food. We tell our server and she says she’ll handle it. She comes back and says that Chris is only willing to take off 20% of my meal. It’s not that we really wanted the discount it’s just that we wish he had done what he said he would. I understand restaurant week is a crazy time for restaurants, and I also understand we are already enjoying a steep discount just by ordering off of the restaurant week menu, however I hope it won’t be used to excuse a terrible dining experience. Also an additional note, both of the steaks we had seemed to be over seasoned.
Service was slow. Took 2 hours to get our first course. Steak came out raw in the middle. Manager was not accommodating after having to send the steak back twice. Do not recommend Sullivan’s.
