Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill Ratings and Reviews
We go to Sullivan's for special occasions and sometimes for lunch on our weekly shopping trips. The food is always ALWAYS awesome and the staff are terrific! If you don't save room for dessert, buy a dessert to take home and eat it later. It's worth the calories!
We have been going to Sullivan's for over 12 years, and it never disappoints. Recently we made the plunge and moved here from Atlanta. Sullivan's could hold its own in the Atlanta dining scene - which is saying a lot. The service is always impeccable - even on special events. The Christmas Tree Lighting and Valentine's Day are two recent examples where they increased the staff and managed their reservations so their flawless service continued unabated. The food is CONSISTENTLY excellent; from the fish to the beef to the pasta. And their burger has some kind of special sauce that really is special ! From the historic architecture to the "to die for" desserts, Sullivan's is a wonderful fine dining experience in the heart of downtown Anderson.
We took my granddaughter and her wife out for a celebration of her marriage before being deployed to Northern Europe. Our waiter was fantastic and attentive despite the restaurant being extremely busy. Some neighbors joined us as well. Everyone agreed that the calamari was absolutely the best we had ever had anywhere in the world, including Europe and Asia. We also agreed that all of our dinners were perfection. Our selections included both sea food and steaks. All of us are very picky when it comes to food and were delighted with the food as well as the service. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
Our reservation request was exactly what we asked with the only exception of the waiter but that was fine. They were very busy but yet spot on service. The food was delicious but I think it’s not quite as good as it used to be but maybe it’s because it was so busy. This is our special occasion place. I give them a 5 star rating.
Joe, our server, was delightful. Our party had the hanger steak, the horseradish coated steak and the house risotto with scallops. Every bite of every meal was spectacular. For dessert, there was chocolate crunch cake, red velvet cake, and carrot cake. The oohs and aahs confirmed that the desserts were scrumptious. Our desserts were rich and flavorful without being too sweet. I can't wait to go back.
Sam was our waiter. It was crowded for New Years Eve but we sat in an area that wasn’t too crowded and was roomy. As busy as they were Sam did a wonderful job taking care of us. The food was out of this world. We had appetizers and drinks and then our entree. Trigger fish was one of the specials and 3 out of 4 of us ordered that and the food was just outstanding!!! The owner came over and spent time with us and we really appreciated that as he is taking care of his customers and great customer service. Yes we will definitely go back again. Hopefully sooner than later. Thanks Sullivan’s!!!
Overall the food and service were great!
owners did a great job with revitalizing interior of old building into a Metropolitan Grill food tastes delicious however they definitely need some help in regards to the person that grills their steaks they need training in regards to learning temperature and color Etc ...
they also are heavy-handed with the salt.. the food will be just as good with less salt😮
overall good experience
We were looking for a nice place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We are from Georgia and did not know the area. My web search showed great reviews and the menu looked appetizing. This was an excellent choice. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious. The staff members were very attentive. We would love to visit again if in the area.
Normally I am thrilled with Sullivan's, unfortunately this last time was a huge disappointment. My steak was overcooked, our server was terrible and rude and we had to ask (basically demand) bread. We even asked to be shown desert and our server said "you can go up if you want I guess" and just left us. Extremely disappointing experience.
A little disappointed in Sullivan’s this past visit. My husband and I went before Christmas and it was decorated nicely. The food and service, however, were mediocre. We ordered the sweet potato and blue cheese appetizer and it was way too salty. so salty we couldn’t even finish half of it. The waitress did nothing. The house salad is practically a bowl of weeds. My main dish was the portobello ravioli. It was good. Our waitress barely refilled our drinks and when she did finally fill them, it was with the wrong beverage. Overall, Sullivan’s has a lovely atmosphere, but the food and experience was not worth the price of the meal.
