Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and had a marvelous time. The food and service were excellent as always and it was a wonderful meal. The only issue I had was that I had ordered steak that night. Usually, at Sullivan's, the waiter or waitress will bring out a steak knife before the meal arrives and that happened this time as well. But when I looked at it I noticed it was dirty. I pointed this out to our waiter and he apologized and brought another knife. So, it might be a good idea to take a close look at the cutlery before bringing it to the table. But, otherwise, a special night.
We went with the expectation of having a romantic evening. We were dressed up and we had tables around us dressed in football shirts and shorts. Price of entrees was high based upon the casual environment. There should be a dress code. Entrees were wonderfully presented but menu was limited. Waitress was loud and it felt we were in Denny's. The restaurant was very noisy. Remainder of gift certificate was not given back to us even though it over the price of the bill. Tip was paid separately. Very disappointed.
My husband took me here for my birthday. We have been here before. Food is always great. My filet mignon was so tender and just melted in my mouth!! Desserts are so huge and there is a large variety of them to pick from. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a good steak dinner. They do have other dishes besides steak but I always get steak. Staff is friendly and attentive. Just a great place to go for a great meal!!
Exceptional food with plenty of options. A breathtakingly wide dessert selection. Great ambiance and easy to get to. Our only compliant was it took 2.5 hours to get through our meal because the service was so slow. We counted 11 tables turned in the time it took to get our food. I don’t know if they were understaffed or what...but we ended up ordering our dessert to go because the meal had taken so long. That said, we will definitely give them another shot. Everything else was truly awesome...and worth the drive!
I love the cool vibe and atmosphere of this place – the menu was creative and the service was impeccable. We were one of the last reservations of the evening, but the staff was jubilant and friendly and didn't try to rush us. The server suggested the fish special, which was delicious. Their lobster bisque is out of this world, I would highly recommend it as an appetizer. We didn't have room for dessert, but the offerings looked very enticing. If we are ever in Anderson, SC again, this is one place that we would definitely put on our "return" list!
Our party ate here on a Saturday night. Sullivan's is always pretty...unfortunately, its appearance was the best part of the evening. First off, the booths move and are not adhered to the floor. Some people like to push theirs back, making others' dining areas smaller. Can't this be fixed? Half of our party were small people, and yet they still ate with their chests on the table. Second, the waitstaff, while pleasant, is a little unaware of the menu and its offerings. Our waitress described the specials when we got there and when she was later asked to repeat them, they were different. What she told us also ended up being different from what the waiter next to us read to another table. While she probably did her best, this restaurant names itself as one of the best in Anderson and should hire a waitstaff with experience in foody menus, serving, and wine presentation. She would also walk up and, without excusing herself, burst into comments and questions that interrupted our group. Third, last and most importantly, the food needs to be more carefully prepared. Two of our group ordered the duck which was overcooked and not nearly as well presented as it had been in the past. One person in our group ordered the curry special, and there was very little curry flavor to the entree.
Come on, guys. You are better than this.Bring back the old Sullivan's.
We love Sullivan's Grill and go there as often as we can. It is a 45 minute drive for us but so worth the time. We love the specials, the hush puppies, the salads, the risotto, salmon,
and lots more. The hostess is so generous and helpful and the service is always superb. Love the coffee bar also.
Don't miss this place if you have a chance.
We had a reservation, and the hosts were friendly and answered our questions about the building and seated us upstairs promptly. The setting was quite loud. Our server was great if very quick in her speech. When I asked if she would recommend getting a couple of appetizers or the Mahi Mahi, she highly recommended the Mahi Mahi. The starter (side) salad and bread were fine. The grits cake under the fish was tasty. The fish was quite overdone; it was like the consistency of eating canned tuna. The side summer squash and pepper mix was salty and limp. The price for such a dish was much too high. The other three diners had a better experience. Two had fettucinni afredo, one with shrimp and one with chicken. The fairly large shrimp seemed to have been grilled, and both said the pasta was good. The lobster bisque was flavorful. The fourth diner had two appetizers: fried green tomatoes and a crab cake. The latter was fine but not memorable, the tomatoes, however, were some of the best we have had anywhere. Thinly-sliced, lightly breaded, full of tart flavor and crisp.
Our group of four ate here on a Friday night, and reservations seemed very important. We had a great server...his name escapes us...but he was friendly, familiar with the menu, honest, and hard working. He made the evening a success. The food was good but I remember better from previous visits. We all shared the hushpuppies, lamb lollipops, and scallops. The hushpuppies were the best. The salads were nothing special...all greens with 1/2 a cherry tomato and a slice of cucumber. Dressings were good, though. Entrees chosen were the ravioli, iron steaks, and duck breast. Both the duck breast and one of the iron steaks were really overdone. When we sent back the iron steak, it took almost 20 minutes to reappear correctly done. The duck breast used to be prepared a little differently, and it was much better then. And they removed the pappardelle pasta entree from the menu...boo. Maybe, they were just overwhelmed but they were a little off their game that Friday.
Enjoyable experience! My wife and I arrived for our reservation and were promptly seated at a table for two on the upper level balcony. The bread and salad were delicious. I ordered the charbroiled 12 oz. ribeye, and my wife ate the New York Strip with horse radish and goat cheese. We both were very satisfied, The cheese cake and banana pudding were very tasty for desert. I would recommend this restaurant, but be prepared to spend a little more. I'd say it was worth $78 for an anniversary dinner of top quality ambience and cuisine. I'll surely return!
Been here a number of times and normally an excellent eating experience. However and unfortunately, this experience was not the best. The service was excellent and the specialty drinks were good. But the meal was just so-so this time. The selection of vegetables was limited and the fish was overcooked. But I'm not going to let this keep me from coming back.
