Always a great meal at Sugo!
Great food and outstanding service. Wait staff was highly knowledgeable about each dish and made helpful suggestions. Owner came by to make sure we were receiving good service, made some recommendations and provided quick details about some of the dishes. Nice touch.
Only a couple of issues:
1. We arrived at SUGO at our reserved time of 7 PM, but couldn't be seated until 7:15.
2. Debbie requested her steak be prepared MEDIUM, but it surely was RARE when it arrived. (The server quickly rectified the situation.)
Good food! Attentive server!
We love the food here and drove from Roswell because we knew it would be worth it. We’re bummed the Roswell location is gone but are glad to have a backup in Johns Creek. The service was excellent, food delicious and enjoyed the visits from the owners. They treated us like we were the only people in their restaurant. Outstanding dining experience from beginning to end!
The food was delicious, the service was superb and it felt like home!
Drinks, service and the meatball appetizer were all great. I had the filet special and it was not good at all. Husband has the lamb and he said it was subpar. Disappointing for an expensive Friday night dinner.
The evening was nice. My husband really enjoyed his entree.
Fabulous place, fantastic food, it feels so good after eating their food. Best Italian in town! The bombos were great. They made every effort to make my aunt's bday amazing! Thank you Sugo team!
The food is consistent excellent at Sugo, as is the service. I think it is very reasonably priced for a nice restaurant, perfect for a date night or dinner with friends. Nice touch that the owners, Mr. and Mrs. C, stop by each table to make sure the experience is exceptional.
We love the ambiance and personable feel Sugo Kitchen offers it's guests. The owners and staff are so attentive. You feel as if you're the only guests in the restaurant. Great portions for the price. I can never eat it all in one setting.
Fabulous food, excellent svc, as usual.
Mr and Mrs C are great hosts and food is fantastic
We’ve eaten here many times and are never disappointed. The service and atmosphere are great and the food is truly delicious!
Can't go wrong here if you're looking for a warm welcome, friendly service & delicious Greek - Italian fusion prepared with quality ingredients by a talented kitchen staff. A favorite in Gwinnett! Thanks Mr. C & Nancy!
Mr C and the entire staff provide a quality dining experience every time with excellent food & service. Sugo’s is the best restaurant outside the perimeter and can compete with any top restaurant in Atlanta.
We had an excellent experience for our Saturday date night!
Food is always excellent!
We had a great time at Sugo - loved the atmosphere, the service and the food! They were very accommodating and we felt appreciated. Only negative was the zucchini noodles were a bit bland but other than that, the food was excellent. We definitely plan to return!
Sugo Kitchen is a must for special tastes and consistent service and food quality! My family and I love this place and are never disappointed. Mr. and Mrs. C are perfectionists that run the finest family restaurant business in Atlanta. Amazing!
Monday early evening dinner, 7pm, relaxed atmosphere and not crazy busy (typical for Monday). Attentive service, excellent food choices and quality, very good wine recommendation. Really enjoyable - as is now our standard expectation of Sugo! High bar, but Sugo management and staff consistently deliver, even exceed. Highly recommended.
Always a pleasure eating at Sugo. My husband and I have been frequenting the restaurant for years and our experience is always top notch. The food is excellent, the ambiance is great and I always leave knowing we will be back again soon! I often find myself craving certain menu items. Thanks again for a great night!
I'm conflicted. You see, i'd recommend the place, but my review is not stellar.
We were a large party, and the management way over sat our server. She had a table of 10 and a table of 5 when we were sat, and a table of 7 came in after us and was given to her as well.
I asked how many mushroom truffle ravioli were in an order, and the server said 3 or 4. there were two. Not good for sharing apps - and those two cost 12 dollars.
The meatball appetizer was delicious (again over priced, IMHO), but it came out 20 minutes after the other apps. And all the apps for the table didn't come out together. The server meticulously wrote seat numbers down (as we were likely to split the check as is common with larger groups...) but the people who brought out the food seemed clueless.
After the appetizer debacle (I think I was still waiting on my meatball) I mentioned the service attentiveness to the server - this is when I learned how badly the "over seating" situation her management had created was - and I think she mentioned my displeasure and concerns it to management, because they did comp my meatball, and they did pay a bit more attention to the table - providing our birthday guest with free desert as well. But it took over 40 minutes for our mains to come out - after the apps! We had an 8:15 reservation, had our apps order in before 9, and the restaurant was closed when we had our desert... (Google says we left at 11:27!)
SO - Go. See for yourself. Know that the food is well prepared. Know that it's at the high end of price/portion, especially for Italian food. BUT - do NOT go on a weekend with a party larger than 4, even if you have a reservation. And expect your dining experience to take .... a while...
The food was amazing. We were a table of 8. Seating was tight, tucked in the back. We were first assigned a waiter and then we were reassigned to a more experienced waitress. Our service was slow and not all the meals within the course were served simultaneously. She apologized for the slow service several times, particularly getting our checks. Overall, we enjoyed our evening and the food was delicious, but service and ambiance should have been better.
Mr. C is also present and attentive. Server was very polite and attentive as well. Food is usually always on par. I ordered the scallops which were very tasty but they were served on some kind of flat pasta and tomatoes that were cold and not flavorful. My husband ordered the braciole which is always good. I would not order the scallops again unless I could substitute the rest of the meal. $28 is a lot for 4 scallops on a bed of cold, tasteless pasta. We will return for the rest of the menu. The cappuccino was cold and had to be reordered as well.
My Italian family said the meatballs were the best ever. (Did I mention that my mom's maiden name is Rao?). The service was UNMATCHED. Our waitress was charming and the owner came to our table (5 adults, 2 kids and 2 18 year olds) THREE TIMES to make sure that we had everything we needed. On a Saturday night. With hundreds of folks in and out - he made is feel like we were the only ones in the place. I am pretty sure we ate a bakery's worth of the bread - it was delish. I had the fish of the day with the most amazing pumpkin ravioli. We are a VERY tough crew - vegan, no onion, extra onion, paleo - we got high maintainance covered - they were impeccable. Cant wait to go back! Did I mention that the owner is so cute and so proud of how they prepare food and where they source it from - we were enchanted before we ate a bite.
PS: We are not big drinkers but the tray of drinks that went to the table next to us looked amazing. Cant wait to go back SOON!
A gem right here in the Johns Creek neighborhood. The food is exceptional. I recently decided to go 100% vegetarian plant base foods only. I was surprised by the options available for my taste of foods. In addition, there was equally fair variations of good food available for my wife who is not vegetarian. We both enjoyed our selections. You must try the Zucchini Spaghetti.
Authentic food, romantic atmosphere, and excellent service!
We've been to Sugo's on a number of occasions and the service, atmosphere and food have always been consistent. It's our "go to" place.
Food was great, service slow (2.5 hrs) probably due to Valentines Day
Ate on Valentines and had the filet. It was ok. I had higher expectations. Will give it another try.
Food and service were excellent. A very crowded Valentine’s Day crowd handled very well with adequate staffing, I.e. food served timely, no delays, everything worked beautifully.
Valentines even though it was a very busy
Night they were prepared for it. The wait staff
Did not rush us the food was delicious as always
Was prepared just perfectly. We were greeted
As if we were the only ones there made us very comfortable.
Excellent service and great tasting food! The restaurant was a bit loud so it was somewhat difficult to hear the person sitting across from me. Would definitely come back!
We had a fantastic time, it was the perfect place for an early valentines dinner. The deep fried mushroom risotto was appetizer was amazing. The beet salad was sinfully good. My dates barramundi was perfect melt in your mouth delicious. My eggplant parmigiana was good, but the eggplant was cut a bit thick and tasted a bit on the raw side. Finally the tiramisu was hands down the best I've ever eaten.
Second time at Sugo and as out of towners from Dallas, this is the best Italian food in the city. The proprietors are outstanding.
Sugo is on our regular list. Love the food and the atmosphere. Mr C. is always ready with a good story about the history of the restaurant or a particular dish. Ask Sam to make you one of her special cocktails. Highly recommend Sugo for special occasions as well as an everyday treat!
We love this place. Every time we go we are just amazed by the food and the atmosphere. We have brought our daughter (now 10 months old) every time we go and we never feel like we are shunned for doing so. They are very accommodating and the service is stellar. If you have a special day coming up for anything, you need to try them out. You can tell with every bite that your dish is made with love and real, honest ingredients. Always a winner!
Food was amazing
