Service was terrible, hair on the napkins, not kid friendly
Loved it! Went with friends to catch up. The space is gorgeous! Favs were the soul rolls, wings, catfish, and Mac n cheese, followed by extreme shakes. Parking was easy in City Center garage on level 4. Definitely going back OFTEN.
A classy but casual vibe downtown White Plains has been craving for a long time. The newly renovated space is full of texture, color and lighting that will set you up to relax and enjoy the food, drinks & each other's company. The staff is new and open to learning the tempo and preferences of the brunch to late night crowd. The chef is passionate about delivering new twists on classic Soul & Latin plates. I especially liked the chicken & waffles, fried chicken tacos, sweet potato muffins, smothered pork chops, and the tasty banana pudding comes with what must be an entire box of Nilla wafers - definitely enough to share. Bartender Andy slings drinks that you'll thirst for and certainly keeps em' coming! A great gathering place for large groups to couple & singles. And, check out sponsored events. I've been to a few different events from a brunch club, book signing, etc. Take advantage of ample parking in City Center (4th Flr). Take the outside escalator down to the patio terrace towards Main St and follow the curved windows around to the entrance of the Sugar Shack. Enjoy!
The Sugar Shack has a fun, cool vibe with a laid back lounge upstairs to hang out and relax. The staff, from the bartenders to the wait staff were all very friendly and professional. So many great drink choices, it was be hard to pick one! The pork chop was delicious. So many choices for dessert, you will want to try everything... I highly recommend the banana pudding dip. I will most definitely go back!
This place literally is just the opposite of what you would expect a "sugar shack" to be. You'd think it'd be colorful, fun, lighthearted, enjoyable. It is literally none of those things. Firstly, there are more wait staff than customers, even though this place was advertised on a local news network. Second, the decor and furniture were so tacky and just bad, that it made me wanna leave 2 minutes after sitting down. The music they played sounded more fit for a nightclub rather than a restaurant. Also, the "southern comfort food" was mediocre and lackluster. The only really good thing about our meal was the rice and the chicken (barely). The chicken was juicy and tender, but it had absolutely no flavor. Also, back to the wait staff, they just love to ignore you for hours. Took me and my mother a half hour to flag down the 1 waitress they had on duty that day so we could get dessert and go home. Overall, I would just avoid this place and go to Black Tap instead. It's worth way more since it's an experience and good American comfort food.
Reserved thru Open Table during a business trip and left the comfort of the hotel for what I thought would be a good meal. After circling for parking a few minutes, we made our way up to what looked to be a lovely modern restaurant BUT THEY WERE CLOSED! No sign on the door apologizing for any inconvenience, nothing! Just a dark restaurant with its chairs up on the tables. This was a scheduled day of operation so I can’t imagine why they were closed or why I was even able to make a reservation... Not impressed!
We made a reservations for Sunday at 6 pm and the girl was saying that they were closed. Once we said we had a reservation she made it seem like she was doing us a favor by letting us in. Then we sat down we waited for a while, once we started ordering they didn't have anything, no drinks at the bar, limited choices on the menu. We noticed she kept letting some people in and turning down others. This place will not last very long with the horrible service they have! I def don't recommend this place at all!
Good food friendly atmosphere. The location is nice with ample parking at the city center lot.
Service was amazing! Food was delicious, everyone from the hostess to the server were incredibly nice, sweet and very attentive. The drinks and dessert we shared were to die for. The manager Kera was very attentive to our needs and made it her business to keep checking in on us to see if we needed anything. Everything was up to par the only thing I would say is the music could've been a little louder but nonetheless still enjoyed ourselves. We really love the fact that the business is black owned. We will definitely be going back soon with some friends.
We went for Brunch and they have mastered it! Meals were excellent and the Mimosas kept coming. Our server was very attentive and the Dessert Bar was to die for!
Great time my waitress Destiny provided great service.
We truly enjoyed Sunday Brunch! Great selection, food was scrumptious, desserts were amazing, bottomless Mimosas were robust and the atmosphere was the perfect backdrop for a rainy day. We loved it!
I know grand openings can be rough but Damnnnnnn. The hostesses were great. However 20 mins after being seated our server never came back and people who came in after us were served. She did her best job to NOT make eye contact so me and my party left to Cheesecake Factory down the road.
You take reservations but the restaurant isn’t opened I drove all the way up there for nothing very upsetting
