   The location was inside the Viceroy hotel. I was thinking that we were closer to the beach. Our waiter was very polite but he got most of our order wrong. The chicken wing were over cooked. Maybe we just picked the wrong day to go to this restaurant

   First time since restaurant makeover. Calamari was great. Lamb was good. Service was pretty good. Bad weather so ate inside. The patio would be great on most other evenings

   We went Christmas Day for breakfast/brunch. The food and service is delightful. The inside seems refreshed. They could really do a great business if they made Sugar Plum a “not to be beat” grand breakfast buffet. Make the food selection bigger. Santa Monica needs a top notch breakfast buffet. Please. ❤️❤️❤️

   We really enjoyed this place--outdoor eating under our own canopy. We decided to have the waiter make some choices for us to share and he did a great job! It is expensive, but everything is these days--well worth it! Food was delicious, presentation fabulous and staff was engaging, professional and lovely. We felt they personalized our whole evening for us

    Top 3 brunch places in LA! Food wonderfully curated mix of American, Mexican favorites. Menu also caters to health-conscious diners. Eye opener juices are suberb. Kale Tabouleh, Crispy Chicken sandwich and The Angeleno, Brussel Sprouts and masterfully cooked. Very attentive and friendly staff! Can't wait to go back!

    The service was inattentive. The food and drinks were super expensive and the kicker was that there was a 20% “service charge” that I have never seen outside of Europe and it was unclear if this was a gratuity or just an extra charge. No explanation given.

    My husband and I went to brunch and it was delicious. I had the migas with chorizo and it was so good and very filling. My husband had the vegan hash with a side of scrambled eggs. He said that was delicious as well. The hotel has complementary valet parking if you eat at the restaurant - so that was a plus!

    The food was excellent. There were four in our party, two of us ordered the lobster avocado toast...so good. One friend ordered the mushroom toast, she was very pleased with her selection, my other friend ordered the Migas Angeleno, tortillas, eggs, chorizo, onions & bell peppers, corn, pico, avocado, black beans, salsa, cotija, similar to chillequille. So delicious, she was nice enough to provide me a bit. My group shared the Dutch Baby, a cast iron baked, mix berry compote, cheesecake batter, berries, powdered sugar desert. Dreamy. The service was excellent, very sweet and helpful service. The surrounding are minimal, but very chic. The restaurant is located within the Viceroy Hotel so it does have a resort feel. Kinda felt like I was back in Miami. It's a must stop.

    As a Santa Monica local I feel that the mellow ambiance of the outdoor patio, tasty food and friendly staff make the Sugar Palm a real hidden treasure and a welcome departure from the crowded, touristy restaurants in the area. I highly recommend breakfast also.

    It’s rare that you’ll find a restaurant that hits it waaay out of the park with their food AND cocktails! Sugar Palm is a home run! They make this from called the Al Pastor with Mezcal, tequila and chefs specially prepared home made pineapple juice recipe. Deeelicious! We started with the thick cut garlic bread with Vegan butter and tomato habanero jam. It tasted exactly as it reads! The crunch of the bread with salt-sweet-heat! Yum! The spicy edamame was so good. I felt silly sucking on the skin after watering the bean, but it was so tasty. Ah, then the main courses! The beef skewers were incredibly full of flavor. The main star of our meal was the Porchetta! This will follow you to your dreams! Tender, juicy pork belly made even more savory with the soy ginger glaze! The ambiance is so very cool with the live DJ, string lights, beautiful outdoor fireplace. I have not been to a restaurant in Santa Monica that hits it on ALL cylinders the Sugar Palm does. Can’t wait to come back and write my next review!

    Fine. Really just an extension of the pool area in this hotel. Food was meh (my chicken tikka was bland), prices seemed high. Nice outside area and the service was fine. I'd eat here if I was staying here but not a destination.

    Wrong order, super spicy noodle, with some hint of lobster....The waiter was an old guy forced to be there...once you enter, no one is there to greet you and they are not patient to help you choose between the two options you have in mind for the food....and obviously, they delivered a wrong food :(

    Came here to celebrate a bday with a group of friends for dinner on a Sat night, we had never come here before so we took a chance, and I’m so happy we did!! I was worried it would be a snobby, bougie crowd, but the ambience so beautiful and chill, no pretentiousness, and the whole staff was great too! With the food, not one dish was a miss! It’s all family style, so we ordered a bunch of different dishes for the table, all were crown pleasers!! I was weary of writing a review since I wanted so badly to keep this a hidden gem, but honestly, they deserve all the stars lol It is on the expensive, so I myself would save this for special occasions, but at least parking is super easy, free valet if you’re eating at the restaurant as of this writing. Thank you again for a lovely, wonderful unforgettable evening!

    The service was slow (and difficult to find—we wandered around the restaurant for a couple minutes before we actually identified someone who could seat us) and the food was overpriced and underwhelming. The best parts? The setting and s great cup of coffee.

    It is a great place when you want everything. Good food, cool vibe, and you can actually talk to your table. The hotel is so classy that when you eat in the restaurant, you can valet for free. Love that! The only thing I would say negative is that it took a little too long to place our order. I wish they would be on that more.

    There was not a table set up for us when we arrived. This was a lunch with potential donors and when we told them we had a reservations the bartender told us we could sit anywhere. Did no make us feel special or that we had a reservation.

    Worst service I have ever experienced. I am so embarrassed for the staff. Not 1 time did any server approach our group, I had to physically stand up and flag people down. There were more servers than tables of people. It was not busy, lunchtime. Unacceptable behavior for a restaurant. Everyone in the restaurant was very relaxed. All the servers were chaotic, panicking, so overwhelmed. All the patrons were very respectful. After waiting 30 minutes to have someone sit us, the hotel manager had to come out and seat us. We had a reservation. Not 1 server came back to our table more than 1x, each item was delivered by a new person. Terrible experience.
