At Half Moon Resort we are committed to sourcing locally grown and seasonal produce. The Sugar Mill Restaurant is as historic as it is iconic. You will be overcome by a sense of awe as you enter the former Running Gut Estate. It is nestled in an alcove beside a 17th century water mill. You can feel the history within the existing walls that once served as the foundation of a sugar cane plantation dating back to 1676.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sugar Mill Restaurant and I must say the experience was exceptional. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the [specific dish], which was a highlight of the meal. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending this place to others. Great job to the entire team

Extremely over priced. Hot coffee spilled on one diners legs. Smoked Marlin was excellent, however, the overall quality of food was not good and again, extremely overpriced.

The food and service were excellent. Only wish is a chef tasting menu highlighting the Jamaican cuisine .

Celebrated my birthday at Sugar Mill Restaurant and it was a 10/10 experience. Staff was amazing. Food was spectacular. They sang the happy birthday song and I got complimentary cake. Overall great experience. Definitely recommend!

My recent wedding celebration at The Sugar Mill in Montego Bay, held in the balmy glow of a Jamaican evening, was one such experience—imbued with warmth, elegance, and the spirit of true hospitality. Arriving as the sun dipped below the horizon, we were welcomed by a gracious hostess who set the tone for the night with her kindness and attention to detail. The historic Sugar Mill, with its softly lit gardens and gentle evening breezes, provided a magical setting for our gathering of loved ones following the church ceremony. Sharon, our server for the evening, was a paragon of professionalism and warmth. Her attentive yet unobtrusive service ensured our every need was met, and her genuine care made us feel truly celebrated. A delightful surprise came when Chef Christopher made a personal visit to our table, sharing his passion for local ingredients and the inspiration behind our meal. At the bar, the dynamic duo of Andrew and Marlon—affectionately known as “AM”—crafted cocktails with both skill and creativity. Their drinks, from classic rum concoctions to innovative new blends, added a festive spark to our celebration. Our meal was a highlight: generous portions, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour. We savoured perfectly cooked salmon, succulent steak, and the most delicious sweet potatoes—each dish a testament to the Sugar Mill’s commitment to quality and local produce. Service throughout the evening was impeccable—attentive, discreet, and always with a smile. The staff’s dedication to making our celebration special was evident in every detail. As the evening unfolded, the atmosphere remained convivial and elegant, the perfect setting for heartfelt toasts and joyful conversation. In summary: The Sugar Mill delivered a flawless evening!

One of the best culinary experience, customer service is great! Overall the best restaurant of Montego bay, they accommodate my baby with a fan to make sure we are fresh while we have dinner. Chef sent us complementary appetizers which exceeded our exceptions. 1000% recommend if you around. Thanks !

Restaurant was beautiful with many outdoor tables. Perfect setting for a magical evening. The food is basic resort food in a different environment, ridiculously small portions and poorly executed cuisine &, very over priced. Service was sub par at best. Avoid this tourist trap at all cost. If the options are between your resort and this restaurant as a local dining option , stay on your resort. 2 people and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc plus taxi was in excess of $350

I was at Sugar mill restaurant to celebrate my birthday with two of my friends May 18th and I was so unhappy about the treatment from our waiter "Daniel". I really looked forward to this trip and made this reservation over a month ahead. Daniel was so unprofessional, unfriendly and had an attitude throughout our stay. We had to serve our own water and wine. When we asked about the birthday cake, He brought the cake without saying a word and dropped it in front of me with an attitude and when it was time to pay and he got upset because we asked about splitting the bill, he was rude and sighed loud. My friends and I left the restaurant feeling sad about the treatment we got. Although the chef was nice and friendly to us. I will not be going back and will definitely share my experience with others.

My family will always remember the extraordinary, professional, and joyful reception of your whole staff who worked together to make this dinner memorable. Thank you so much, team. The food, the presentation, the singing and dancing were all so special. Thank you so much for having the chef, restaurant manager and staff come greet her; she felt like a star.
