Sugar Factory - Pentagon Mall
Our service was outstanding. Vee was our main server and she was friendly, helpful, and made our first-time experience wonderful. Her helper servers were friendly and excellent too. Our mac and cheese balls were not good. Flavorless, including the sauce, and they were cold. Our burgers and club sandwich were better, but way overpriced. Had to ask for more blue cheese on the burger, because it wasn't even noticeable at first glance. The milkshakes looked good, though we didn't try any. The banana split was very good and enough for 3 people. The music was crazy loud when birthday celebrations were conducted, but thankfully got turned down at other times. I think we had better luck than other reviewers because of the Coronavirus outbreak. Capacity was down, diners were spread out, and there was no wait time for our reservation. The food even looked like the photos in the menu. Not sure if we would have visited without a Groupon because of the high prices.
Service was poor! Waiters had us clean our own tables; supplied the roll of paper towels, but did not clean it. Waiters kept changing; food and drinks took a long time to come out. Terrible customer service.
We went to celebrate an 18th birthday. It was a very disappointing experience. There were only 2 Insane Milkshakes available. And they were out of lots of candy for the drinks. Our service was extremely slow. I was disappointed in the value for the money spent.
Everything was good, we can’t wait to go back. I’ve already recommended this place to half the people I know.
Our server Lily was totally awesome!
Went for my son’s 8th birthday. We the adults and children attending, truly enjoyed themselves!!
This was the dirtiest Sugar Factory I’ve ever been to. The service was absolutely horrible. The waitress took my family’s order, brought it out and we never saw her again. We had to ask another waitress to find her. When she finally decided to come out to give us the check she never came back to pick it up. There was not toilet tissue or paper towels in either bathroom.
Dinner was amazing. We had the salmon salad, fettuccine alfredo and cheesecake. The food far exceeded our expectations - everything was delicious! Our server was friendly and attentive. The vibe of the restaurant is young and hip, there’s a big screen TV on the wall looping scenes of celebrities at Sugar Factory restaurants around the country and club music playing overhead. This would be a fun place for a girls night out or a birthday party. We were visiting from out of town but would certainly return for an awesome meal when back in the area.
Our server was very attentive but it was extremely busy for a Sunday evening. We had a later reservation, 7:45 pm, 3 people, and we still had to wait 45 mins for the larger parties to leave before we were seated. We made our reservations well in advance and had a much longer wait than anticipated. The food was good. Our goblet drink did not have the candy sharks that were in the menu description and they were out of Nutella for our dessert. It was a little disappointing but after the crazy amount of people that were served that evening it was not too surprising they ran out of things. I would definitely recommend The Sugar Factory but maybe visit on a week day during the day to avoid the craziness of the evening.
First time visit, nice experience 🎉
Extremely, over the top noise level distracting to me however, enjoyable to the younger diners!
Our waitress was not very friendly. A fight broke out outside the restaurant and many people, including waitresses, ran outside to watch the fight.
They were very busy, so we were seated a short while after our reservation. The server, Ethel, was sweet as pie and made sure to let us know that she didn't forget about us. That being said, they were out of all soda except for Sprite and even that was more on the carbonated water side. They were so crowded that they brought out rickety chairs for people. A huge fight broke out just outside the door and tons of obnoxious teenagers went running out. Overall, the food was good, the server did a good job, but it is a one time visit. $30 for an alcoholic drink is insane, $22 for chicken parm, $22 for Alfredo...just over priced.
Over all it was good, but shortage on glasses for my drink. I had ordered a drink but was never given the drink because they had no more glasses due to previous customers stealing.
Our waiter was amazing however they were super behind at the restaurant. After two hours, half of my table still had not received their food. We were waiting for glasses to be cleaned for our iconic sugar factory drinks and never received those either. The manager was attentive and very aware of the situation seeing as we weren’t the only ones complaining. The little food we got was free due to everything that was going on. Very disappointed seeing as we drive 3 hours to eat here for my birthday. Personally. I would never visit this location again.
Place was loud. We waited 45 minutes to get our milkshake and it wasn’t even good. Would not recommend.
The service was slow. The food was Luke warm and didn’t have much taste. Milkshakes didn’t taste like the flavors described.
Amazing place for celebrations and dining fun. My family and I had a ball! Service and the staff were excellent.
I suggested this place for my office to go to for our quarterly lunch, which none of them had ever been to before. They had just opened an hour prior to our arrival, but when you walked in it smelled like spoiled milk!! Like the trash was not taken out the night before. The door should have been opened to air the place out. I would’ve left if it were just me. But then it was only one person working, she was the greeter, waitress, she brought out the food, etc for all tables. I must say she did a great job multitasking. But when my club sandwich came out without avocados on it I didn’t want to bother her because I knew she was so busy. So hopefully the foul odor, the lack of staff, and the mishap with my sandwich was abnormal. Otherwise we enjoyed ourselves. I’ll give them a try again if someone invites me, but I likely won’t suggest it myself.
Fun place to celebrate a birthday. Enjoyed the idea of my daughter picking her birthday song to celebrate with her desert. Planning on going back to celebrate my birthday with friends.
Friendly waitress. Slow service. 40 min for milkshake that were $17 a piece. The experience not worth the money.
Excellent place 4 birthdays...our server could have been better at cleaning our table but the ambiance & value were definitely on point
Plan on waiting an additional hour after your reservation time to be seated, and longer for wait staff to take your order. The music gets louder when a birthday is being recognized but overall not too noise.
Horrible service from the staff. Long wait time even with a reservation. Food orders incorrect. Restaurant out of items only 2 hours after opening. Poor dining experience. Will not and do not recommend dining at this location
I would not normally write a review for a restaurant, but the experience we had should be noted.
- If you like hip-hop/rap at eardrum shattering levels (as I do), you will like the ambiance. Basically just "Say Aah" by Jeremih and "In Da Club" by 50 Cent on repeat, insanely loud.
- Both my girlfriend and I got fishbowls, which were pretty good.
- The waitress was very nice and made some good recommendations.
- The food was TERRIBLE, probably the worst food I have ever had at a restaurant. Both my girlfriend and I were unable to eat much of our meals (cold + soggy fries, raw burger, etc.). We should have sent them back but it took so long to get service that we decided it wasn't worth it.
- Due to the fact above, the meal was really overpriced (although I suppose we knew this going in - it just hurt a little more after we barely ate any of our meals since they were prepared so poorly).
Summary: This "restaurant" is basically just a club, and the food quality shows it. If you (a) want drinks and/or some ice cream and (b) are into loud rap music, this is a decent pre-clubbing spot. Do not come here and try to order dinner, though, or you will be super disappointed.
Overall we had a great time...
Sugar factory was NOT what I expected AT ALL. The place was GHETTO, the food is way overpriced, the service was slow. The only thing I enjoyed was the drink.
I only went because my friends really wanted to try it. Based on the yelp reviews I knew not to expect much. Had a reservation checked in early had to wait. Think we were seated 30 minutes after reservation time. I did have to add one more person when we checked in, but I doubt that had anything to do with the timing to be seated. I also understand that you might have to wait based on when the folks who were seated before leave. It took several minutes before our server came to the table. I ordered a cocktail which I didn’t care for and chicken tenders. Never in my life have I had horrible chicken tenders from a restaurant. My cousin returned her quesadilla. Food looked like a child prepared it. I notice other tables returning their food too. My friends who ordered the goblets got their drinks extra late due to being told their were no clean goblets. They did get a discount but still. When one finally got their drink it didn’t look like the picture. Was told the berries weren’t available at that location. It should be a disclaimer that drinks aren’t the same. My other friend dessert came late that’s all she ordered her cookies were hard as a rock. The speaker system needs to be replaced the sound was horrible. I definitely will not be coming back. Not sure if I would even try other locations.
We made a reservation for 14 people to celebrate my son's birthday. When we arrived, the table wasn't ready and we had to wait for an additional 30 minutes. When we finally got our table, it was only big enough for 12 people, so we had to have people sit on the corners of the table. We ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table and only half came out. After making a complaint to the manager, the rest of our food arrived, though we had been seated for over an hour by this point. We ordered a bunch of desserts which took another hour to arrive to the table. The food was okay, but overpriced. The manager did apologize about the service and took 30% off the bill. However, I would not recommend the Sugar Factory for any kind of event or special occasion.
This place is a great concept badly implemented. Reservations are required just to get you in line to wait some more. Large parties meant slow service. And the food and drinks are highly overpriced. But it was a fun environment for a 16 year old’s birthday celebration.
The sugar factory is a fun place but you make reservations and end up waiting an hour beyond your reservation. The food was great but they were out of many things. The noise was a little too loud for me as far as eating dinner atmosphere. The server was outstanding and she made the night for us enjoyable.
We waited over an hour and we had a reservation!! Food is mediocre, definitely not worth the amount of money they charge. Very disappointed by this establishment
My sons 10th bday
Even with the reservation we had to wait an hour. Also it was too loud for our liking. Our table was very wobbly we had to switch tables twice. Our silver left for the day without telling us. The server never gave us the extra condiments that we requested nor did she give us any utensils or napkins. We had to ask another server for those items. In addition We had to flag down another server to pay our check. One bright spot was that the food was very good and came out quickly. Not worth a return trip
Horrible service! We were seated almost 20 minutes after our scheduled reservation time, never received silverware or napkins, only some of us got waters. The tables are broken and lean whenever you set anything on them. We ordered drinks and desserts, but the drinks came out one at a time, almost an hour later. After an hour and a half they finally came out and said they ran out of milkshake glasses! After asking for a manager TWICE they had someone from the back come out that we had not seen on the floor in the entire time we were there. He did comp us almost $200 worth of stuff but at that point my daughters birthday celebration was ruined, and we were all angry and tired. The thing is, half their problems would be solved if they just worked on efficiency. PS: Bathrooms were so gross we held it and waited to go in the mall.
I went to celebrate my sister’s 43rd birthday. I had heard so much about this place and I was completely underwhelmed. The service was horrible, my waitress never refilled my drink, the attitude of my waitress and the rest of the staff was as if they were annoyed to be there, the food was expensive and mediocre- I could have went to a diner for a 3rd of the price and had better food. They were out of the insane milkshakes and the old fashioned ones were nothing to rave about. I would never go again. I don’t drink alcoholic beverages so maybe that’s there claim to fame...the drinks🤷🏻♀️. Also, the seating is horrible, we were constantly being bumped and bumping in to other tables. Definitely don’t recommend. You’re better off going to the Cheesecake Factory where you have a larger variety with fair pricing. I came from the Baltimore area and what a waste of a drive.
Took some time to get drinks even water. Lots of young kids there. No good work ethics. The one in Miami was 1000% better and work ethics were great. Will not go back. Was my son's birthday so I am glad it wasnt ruined.
When I got there I was a little annoyed because we had reservations but still had to wait. However the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. My server name was V and she was AWESOME! She even gave my daughter some advice on attending Howard U. Great vibes, great staff, good times!!
Worst resturant experience ever. Their customer service sucks.
Arrived for lunch at 12:30. Doors were locked. Door on the side was propped open with a chair. Pushed back the chair, but instead of a greeting received a grunt from the employee in front. The waitress was sweet. The food was less than mediocre, the place did not feel clean and the bill with tip was over $50 for a sandwich, salad and a drink. Food did not look anything like the photos in the menu. I would not go back for any reason. We should have left when we walked in and there was no one else there at the peak lunch time.
