Sugar Factory - Pentagon Mall
It was nice. The drinks were good, food was bland. I didn't mind the celebration that waa going on but there was one table that was so loud we can barely talk, and this went on until we left.
I made a reservation online and when I arrived we waited at least 20-30 minutes. The store portion of the restaurant had little to no appeal. There were several bare shelves where products are supposed to be displayed. Behind the bar that was facing the store front, there was no ice cream or gelato in the freezer display and it looked equally unkept. When we were finally seated, we were seated directly next to the door for the kitchen and I could visibly see the disarray. Food was all over the floor. Workers came in and out of the kitchen with gloved hands, one person in particular touched a trash can then proceeded to leave and re-enter the kitchen with the same gloved hands. And, to top it off our waiter seemed less than pleased when we informed him that we wanted a new table. The two tables we were given were very unstable to the point that we could not rest our arms on the table tops without them wobbling. We left before we ordered. It was a very poor experience especially having visited the location in Las Vegas and looking forward to a similar experience for my birthday.
I reserved a 5:45pm table for six people one week in advance. This was for my daughter’s 13th birthday. We arrived at 5:45pm, and we were told there would be a wait. The person next to me was waiting for her 5:00pm reservation. The young girl at the host desk was incredibly rude—leaning over the desk, rolling her eyes behind her bizarrely extended eyelashes, pointing her claw-like nail extensions. She indicated it is corporate policy to seat whomever arrives—regardless of reservation—and to accommodate reserved parties arriving with far more guests than the reservation dictated. I asked for the manager. The manager reiterated what I had been told, and she acknowledged my complaint regarding the poor manners of the hostess. I explained to her teenagers cannot be placated with drinks at the bar, and we needed to be seated. People were waiting everywhere, including a group of young children on bar stools. We waited for thirty minutes to be seated. One of the burgers did not arrive, so they compensated us for that. They also gave my daughter her birthday milkshake for free. Though the table service was nice once it arrived, the food was mediocre at best. Everything tasted as though it came from the prepared meal section at the supermarket: flavorless and sure to cause digestive distress. The kids wouldn’t even drink the milkshake. We
Quality and service both suffer in this establishment. It seems the restaurant chooses quantity over quality. None of the girls want to return—that should speak volumes as they are 13-year olds and this should have been a place they loved. The manager was very nice, but what can she do with the tools she was given? Please don’t waste your money. Support another business, and have a nice time.
Overall our experience was good except the wait after having a reservation was almost an hour. Server could use some additional training.
AC was broken or not on so the restaurant was hot, stuffy, and humid. Paired with lots of customer noise and loud music, environment was not great.
Service was slow. Waiter was very busy which I understand but took awhile to get to my table and forgot takeout boxes.
Food was extremely overpriced, especially for the quality of what we received.
My experience at the Pentagon City Mall location was below my expectations. It smelled like a day care, it was very tight between seating and deafening. My biggest disappointment was not getting what I paid for. We ordered the cooking monster milk shake that had blue decorations, quality pastry's and fresh cookies according to the photo on the menu. Instead, we received a cookies and cream milk shake with burnt chocolate chip cookies frozen to the glass, no blue decorations (per the menu) and pastry's clearly from Walmart. My turkey burger was dry and did not resemble the photo on the menu. The turkey burger had thousand island dressing which was cold. At this point it was time to leave and because the only exit was clogged with people coming in, we had to go around at which a waiter coming out of the kitchen slipped on the dirty floor and spilled a drink with gummy worms on my sleeping grandson. I spent $124.00 plus tip for this experience.
Big let down. We had terrible service, came to get brunch and after about 20+ minutes our drink orders were taken (which we never received, and got a lot of attitude for ordering a coffee). after another 20 min after ordering we were told they were out of waffles and eggs Benedict (?) without any explanation or apology, and were just given a lot of attitude. We left without receiving anything.
more for a younger group, super loud, not the cleanest.
I loved the food and the ambiance, and felt like most of the prices were fair, but we waited almost 30 mins for our check. The people next to us complained to the same waitress how disappointed they were that it took so long to bring the check, so I thought that she would've learned after they let her know and put in a complaint, but she turned around and did the same thing to us. She seemed to be too busy talking to a friend the entire time, but the only issue that we had was when bringing the check. The food came out really quick, which was good, because it took a while for the waitress to come and address us after being seated and we were hungry. I just felt like for the amount of money spent to have to wait almost 30 mins (27 mins to be exact) is unacceptable.
Customer service so poor, food is really great , the drinks weren’t as great as the one in union station. It’s just too loud can’t even have a descent conversation and it’s just too damn small to host anything big . This goblet glasses need to be changed ASAP .
Very disappointed in my overall experience, especially since we were there to celebrate a birthday. The service we received was horrible so much so we canceled an order because it took too long to receive. There were no signature drinks available due to ingredients not being available, no waffles, food was lukewarm and to top it all off no Manager on Duty to speak with about our experience. More than likely will not revisit this one.
For soone reason, the manager didn't show up for work and the employees were scrambling to do simple transactions like issuing refunds/discounts. 90% of the food we ordered took about 30-40 minutes to come out. The other couple that was with us canceled their order because it was taking so long. From what I was told, the shelves weren't stocked with candy as it normally is. This was my first experience at this restaurant and it was NOT a pleasant visit. The staff was trying and were as polite as possible, but the lack of leadership crippled the restaurant. One server told us that they ran out of waffles ther previous day. It made me wonder if they "cook" frozen waffles. They also has no Sprite to make any of their drinks. The chef supervisor had to go to the store and buy cases of soda which they brought in while everyone was seated at the table.
Good food and drinks for the cost. Bathroom wasnt clean. Service was slow. This location was Birthday Central on the day we dined....lots of parties, lots of noise. I would still go again.
We had a 4:00 reservation on a Sunday and didn’t get seated until 4:45 for a table of 5. The restaurant was dirty. Our menus were either sticky or damp. Our server was fine. We placed our order quickly and food came out fast. But we were never given utensils or napkins. After trying to find our server (it was busy) my husband took place settings off another table. The napkins were still damp. The restrooms were disgusting. Obviously people go here for the desserts and novelty. We’ve been to ones in other locations—- but this one was a huge let down. I never write reviews so the fact that I’m writing this says a lot.
We made reservations about a month in advance only to arrive and wait 45 minutes. Our server was unfriendly, nonexistent, and fairly rude. They didn’t have a number of food items available and instead of trying to accommodate she was just very rude and short with us. After singing happy birthday to every other table we had been celebrating a birthday as well and never received any type of song or birthday dessert. The food was cold and flavorless. It took about 40 minutes for our server to return each time and we ordered anything from our waters to our meals and check. We were really looking forward to this experience and left very disappointed.
Absolutely delicious and generous portions! Milkshakes are expensive, but well worth the splurge on occasion!! Obviously dedicated and hard-working staff!
Very lively experience. Seems to be the go-to place for birthday celebrations. For those who can remember Farrell’s it very much reminded me of that. I recommend it.
The food in general is just O•K, but the desserts, milkshakes, libations and birthday greetings are AWESOME. We will definitely come back for awesomeness and that alone.
Was a little upset they skipped my reservation. This was my first time ever visiting for my birthday but other than that good experience with servers at the bar
It was ok. Not because you make a reservation doesn’t mean you’ll be seat on time. We got seat 1hour after our reservation was scheduled. The seating arrangements was bad in that there was barely in room to move your chair back without hit the person behind you. The music was a bit to loud with trash speakers. Our waiter was pretty nice tho.
Sadie was an amazing server and she helped me have a great birthday!
Extremely noisy inside. The food was subpar. My meal (fish and chips) was not good and when I asked for malt vinegar I was brought some strange brown liquid and when in poured it on my fish and chips it definitely wasn’t vinegar. I told the waiter and he quickly took it away to the kitchen came back and said he wasn’t sure what he had brought me and said they didn’t have vinegar. It was worrying and I didn’t end up finishing my food bc I wasn’t sure what I had put on it. I won’t be going back.
My waitress was slow and it took her a long time to comeover and take our order or greet us. (We also had a reservation so they knew we were coming)
The food was cold but drinks were good. (Very Creative)
I gave the store a 2 star rating because my daughter loved the environment. Overall the service neededs big improvement and the chef is terrible.
Probably the worst dining experience ever noise so loud even the kids that were there they were holding their hands over their ears. food was atrocious I’m not even sure they finish defrosting the french fries and a burger that nobody put a temperature gauge in that burger that should not of been served basically we got our food took a bite, lost our appetite, got our bill and left it was that bad
It has really changed over the last year and the atmosphere is not fun, fresh and exciting like it use to be
Terrible terrible customer service! We went there for my youngest Birthday they got the order wrong ! I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I should have believed all of these bad reviews
Waited about an hour to get someone to bring utensils and water, even though the restaurant was not full. Had to ask 2 people if they knew who our waiter was. Music is very loud continously and even louder when they sing happy birthday. Food was average, if that. Definitely not worth a return visit.
Loved it! ..my daughter was so excited..she really enjoyed herself...thanks so much!
The dessert was gross. Didn’t look like the picture and didn’t taste good at all. My daughter order burger sliders was suppose to come with rubber duck. They ran out and did not give us anything instead.
Been here multiple service and entire experience has jus went totally down hill.
We had a lot of fun. The food was great. The server was a little slow, but that was ok.
The wait was long even with reservations people were seating without reservations
Terrible. Slow, loud, overpriced, and disappointed.
Daughter’s 18th birthday
Had a reservation for 12 people, no one got food at the same time or even close to the same time. We sat at our table with no sever for nearly 20min inquired about server and sat another 10 before anyone came by. The food was cold by the time it came out and desserts were melted by the time they were brought to the table
We had a BLAST!!!. LOVED the birthday celebrations!!! Michael was the best server we have had in a while. He was totally on point with recommendations and service. When I return, I will definitely want to be seated in his section!!!
It's a fun concept. The server was nice, but food was slow to come out. The kids plates came out after the adult plates which makes dining stressful for families. The kitchen was out of food items that were pictured on the menu. In the future, we would probably just go for dessert.
We had a reservation for 7:45 but didn’t get seated until almost 8:45. Ordering drinks at the bar but never received them. Our table was tucked in a corner where they had a Christmas decorations. We sat at the table for another 20-30 minutes before the waitress came to introduce herself. I told her we ordered drinks at the bar and she went to go get them. 10 minutes later another waiter brought us water because we hadn’t received any yet. We told him we were waiting for for server to bring our drinks, he said oh I was just bringing water and walked away. By the time our server finally came back to the table after watching her walk around we were ready to go. We left and went to Bonefish Grill.
AWFUL service!!! Food wasn't warm. Staff wasn't very friendly at all. None of the menu was described to us, no suggestions or explanation's. Desert's were great although we didn't even get what we ordered. Food was good but not great.
Pre-Birthday Lunch for my daughter!!! Great Birthday surprise dessert with sparklers! The whole restaurant joined in to make it a special day for my girl!
