   I really didn’t know what to expect at first going in, but it was a great experience. The energy is very high and the staff is super friendly and fun. I definitely plan on going back and bringing some unsuspecting family and friends with me. The only downside I had was that my daughters paid for One of the five dollar birthday Sparklers for their stepfather and it was never received. I was kind of thinking something got lost in translation so I won’t hold it against them but other than that I really enjoyed my experience and can’t wait for the next time.

   My ONLY complaint was how long it took to be seated after checking in the hostess said our table was ready but the kitchen was behind so she couldn’t seat us , which really didn’t make sense but ….Other than that we had a good time , food was amazing! Our server was AMAZING! It was my 3yro bday and she had fun , the staff made it a special experience for her ! I’ll definitely go back !

   Food is over priced and comes out very slow, no matter what time you visit. 20% gratuity is automatically assessed. Service is very bad but since they will het their tip they don’t care, the birthday song and dance is very cool to see but other than that it’s an overpriced experience that I will not go back for.

   It was my GF 40th birthday, it took forever for someone to come to our table to even greet us.. Then once we finally were able to order it took 40 mins to get our food. Plus we ordered non alcoholic drinks and they put alcohol in them, the waitress never even asked us which one we wanted, I guess she assumed.. It wasn’t a totally bad experience. The food was good, and the drinks were good after they switched it out..

    From start to finish everything was good. We had an excellent waitress. Management rounded and checked on everyone. Sugar Factory is definitely a vibe and we'll definitely be back. No complaints here!

    We had a party of 6 for a birthday party. Our server Donna was amazing! The selection of food/drinks left much to be desired. This kids selected the goblet drink of their choice, but unfortunately the cotton candy machine was broken. No problem things happen we can select other drinks. We requested the root beer float but also ingredients out of stock. Everything else was fine with the evening, just a bit disappointed that the birthday girl couldn’t get the items she selected. Also we prefer physical menus but there were only two floating around the restaurant which was a bit of a struggle. Overall, we’d return to give the restaurant another chance solely based on the service provided by Donna.

    I came to celebrate my son 10th bday . This place was the best choice , from excellent food choices and desserts to the amazing staff who clearly love what they do. This restaurant is most definitely family friendly with something for the entire family . I will most definitely be coming back again .. NOT TO MENTION .. THE MAC & CHEESE WAS SOOOOOOO GOOD ! I can’t stop thinking about it

    Very disappointed and highly upset!!! I Spent $580.00 for 8 people. Only for half of my parties food and drink order to arrive 2 hours after arrival. The food was way below average and came out very cold and seemed old. We were there to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday and I made these reservations a month in advance. While there I placed an order for a special celebration dessert for my daughter, only to be told once we were ready to leave that the order that was placed for that dessert was never put in. I will not be visiting this restaurant again! The food was so bad, we had to pick up dinner on our way home....FROM DINNER! Terrible experience! The best thing was the drinks.

    A lot of people go there for the “Instagram” experience. The food was okay but super expensive. The waiters will take forever to take your order. We had to literally flag one down. Making a reservation doesn’t really matter because they will take anyone that shows up at the door, they just want your money. I had to make the experience enjoyable for my kids because I’m not going to pay $400 and feel cheated and have my kids feel bored and unappreciated. I had to get a little loud with some of the employees to get their attention and demand service. Of course I don’t want them to do anything to our food, but don’t just overlook me and my children for 1 hour and 15 mins with excuses like “we’re really backed up, someone will be here soon to take your drink order”; etc. The children were excited to get the big milkshakes with all the works in it like cookies, donuts, cupcakes. But overall, it’s just not worth it. And they add a mandatory 20% gratuity to your bill if you don’t want to tip them for the horrible service and an option to tip more. Bottom line: if you just want cute Instagram pictures, go, order a cutesy wutesy drink and take pics of it and the little pink wall and grass wall. But you will be waiting over 1hr,30mins before they actually bring you anything.

    The food was delicious, but I did not like the fact that they added a 20% gratuity to my bill. I can understand if it was a party of 5 or more, but it was just me. I did not have a dedicated server. The manager started my order and than left and a different waiter started to help me.

    The overall experience was an experience the service was good food came out fast. The things that did not like the “Birthday Dance Song was not kid friendly and felt like I was seeing strip performance instead of a birthday song”. It was very loud also. I felt they should seat parties based on if they are doing the whole birthday performance in separate area. We personally did not have this and I’m glad we didn’t . They do bring ice cream and sing Happy Birthday to your table this was fine and expected in a place like this. The last thing that was not happy with but glad they were able to fix it was our reservations was treated like they didn’t know I had a reservation. We also was told well “ we can’t make people move that have been there for 3 hrs “ First off the reservation phone line is none existence no one ever answered on multiple calls at different times and days. So going I assumed they would pay attention to the open table reservations. I also did not ask people to move. But if you are running a restaurant that is busy and popular and takes online reservations you shouldn’t be having a party stay past 3 hrs when you have other parties waiting. I feel this falls big on management that needs improvement. There also was never a manger to come around to check on how the visit was going.

    I’m super disappointed with our first experience here. We waited 2 months for our reservation and it was not worth the wait. Our kids drinks didn’t come until dinner was served. Our dinners were cold- my son was served chicken that was ice cold. We will not be back!

    My daughter and I went for lunch on a Saturday. We were a few minutes late for our reservation but that wasn’t an issue and we were seated promptly. We had a nice time. Prices are very high for shakes and drinks. My daughter had the Nutella shake. It was ok but I think it’s probably my about the appearance. We shared the sampler appetizer and my daughter raved about the macaroni and cheese balls and the chicken strips. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich which was good. My daughter had the club which was ok. The fries are good. It’s a fun experience and we had a nice time but it is expensive. Twenty percent gratuity is automatically added but our service was good so I didn’t mind.

    My daughter and I had went to the sugar factory in Chicago North River. It was great. This one opened in Detroit within the last year. Yesterday I took my daughter her friend and my wife. -slow seating even with a reservation - sliders were over cooked -took over an hour to get our food -waitress was terrible. Did not even place the food on the table. She would hold it out and say “take this”. -ordered a “spiked” campfire shake. I had this at the north river location previously. When it was brought to the table. There was a shot of whiskey in a glass. The waitress said “at their restraint they don’t mix the alcohol in the shake because of kids”. So that means the equipment is not rinsed after rash use? It is not feasible to mix a shot in one of these milk shakes. -I sent the shot back as it wasn’t correct nor did I want to take a shot of whiskey at noon. I was still charged for the shot. -the wall of televisions playing 10 year old content. Only half of them worked. -even with only a party of four. There was a mandatory 20% gratuity in the bill This is the worst experience I have had at a restraint in general. The Sugar Factory Detroit is a extremely over priced Joke. DO NOT WAST YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

    We had a party of four. Three in the party were running behind for a 9pm reservation. One person from the party was there by 9:10pm. The hostess refused to seat the individual after she checked in because the whole party wasn’t there and sat two different parties instead. Our table wasn’t ready till 10:15Pm. Overall the experience was cool, the Hong Kong dessert was good and the birthday celebration was worth it. Don’t feel the need to go back, but it was a fun experience and would recommend others to go and experience it for themselves. We did not get food so cannot speak to the food.

    We sat at 6:16pm which was our reservation time. Waiter did not come in our table till 6:36pm, when he finally came he told us he would be back with waters five minutes later he appear with our waters. Food and drinks did come fast just waiter was very slow.

    Rihanna was our server and she was very attentive , kind and fun ! They added one extra guest onto our reservation without question . A few things: Shakes are huge ! If you’re taking your kids , have them share one ! If you don’t like a super sweet drink and want the fish bowl for experience , do the Hypnotique Long Island . It was very cool ! Everyone at our table got some sort of burger or sandwich , all were great ! It was my daughters 16th bday , so wd order a 1/2 long and it was for more than 7 people and we still had tons we didn’t eat . The best part was the music and choreography that they did with it . Definitely and experience everyone should try . Welcome to Detroit !

    I love the drinks, I definitely go for the experience. Our server was very nice. Took awhile for the food. Pricey. If you don’t like loud or looking for intimate-not the place for you.

    My server was great once someone finally came to the table. I think I sat for at least 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged that I existed. Then it took a very long time to get my food - and they were not terribly busy. Disappointing

    My and I chose to celebrate my birthday during lunchtime, and it appears that there was not enough staff to accommodate the customer who prefer to come early. If you can't provide full service at lunchtime, perhaps you shouldn't open for lunch. That is not good for business. All service is important, service, cleanliness, the ambiance. I like the idea and you can have a great restaurant if managed right. Your customer is important from the time doors open to close, if you want to stay open do better. I recommend with cautions.
