Sugar Factory - Chicago River North

Everything was perfect
We had a 5:45pm reservation and still had to wait on a Sunday. Hosting wanted to seat my two children and I in the bar area, when the dinning room was available. Instead of seating us in more inside the dinning room we were sat at a corner, (yes there were plenty of open tables available). Our Server was good and attentive. The Managers standing in the corner, instead of maybe making sure things (tables, & floors) were properly cleaned before guest sit down. The menu was a little overwhelming, The food was good and pricing is what you would expect for the area. One thing for the server staff, if you drop the "to-go" bag on the floor, just get another one please.
This was my babies request he has been to the sugar factory a few times and each time he enjoys , he turned 7 and requested this place . the food is decent and the drinks are cute , it's a little pricey but a nice vibe for a celebration.
The service was absolutely terrible!!! The steak was very fatty and hard to chew. Not high quality for the price we paid. The server argued with us about the pop...it was terrible and needed the syrup changed. He brought new ones and they still tasted horrible. We never drank them and still got charged for them. We have been there before and the experience was wayyyyy better. Don’t think we will be back after this time.
OVERPRICED FOOD!!! WHO CHARGES $8 FOR A PLATE OF FRIES??? AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SOME FANCY FRIES, THESE WERE SOME REGULAR BAG FRIES
It was great and overall the service was great . Yall work with me after more people came and I thank you.
My food was cold and the service was poor. The assigned server didn’t frequent our table so I had to reach out to other employees to have him stop by. He didn’t even return to clean up the drink that he had knocked over on the table.
Was a very fun place for special occasions, and I had a very good time here.
Had a wonderful time , waiter was very friendly and helpful with the menu and drinks
Awful. Don’t take kids here.
Overall I was very irritated with everyone besides the waitress Mandi. First, I requested a booth. As we were walking to the table the hostess stated that they did not have any booths available. No issue until I notice that there were four open booths. 10-15 minutes later another group is walked to one of the booths. Few minutes later another family was walked to another opened booth. Each family had five people, mine was only four. Instead of just saying they were unable to accommodate my request because of my party side she lied about not having any. Why? I usually visit that location 3-3 times a year. Nope, not anymore.
Loud. Expensive. But fun for my ten age daughter and friends. A 20% gratuity was added to my bill because we were a party of 5. I had a issue with the waitress suggesting I tip more just for her because the added gratuity went to other members of the staff.
Food was great staff were very friendly everyone that was invited to dinner really had a nice time
I Enjoyed My Birthday Dinner here at River North Sugar Factory
Had a blast. My daughter loved it and so did I!
Alexis A was our server she was very helpful and took care of me and my daughter. Thank you!!!
Great Experience - fun drinks. A little pricey - I feel the drinks don't have to be that much money for the little amount of alcohol they put in them.
It’s a fun novelty restaurant. The food was okay. The shakes were delicious. Going at Happy Hour was a good choice, but it was still pricey.
I had the pepperoni flatbread. There wasn’t anything special about it.
The burger was cooked very well and the chicken fingers were chicken fingers.
Our waiter was super attentive and kind.
I’d like to see a kid’s menu. I was also under the impression it was more geared for kids, but that was just at first glance.
It was an experience! But the food was pricey and all of the baked products were very stale. The ambiance seemed run down.
This is definitely a "special occasion" place reserved for birthdays or something special due to the portions, dessert menu and prices but the space and staff made it feel special so I'd recommend it for trips to Chicago or if you are celebrating something.
Super over priced. Though the drinks were good, the price can definitely come down. we sat outside and it was a nice atmosphere. The service was slow considering they were not busy at all at the time we were there. Do not waste your time.
For what they charge on their food items, I feel like the food should be top class! Unfortunately it was not and the only ones that enjoyed it was my 2 young daughters! Would definitely never go back unless somehow someway the value for the food gets better
Fun experience. Music was a bit too loud, and the drinks were crazy expensive, but fun to try while in Chicago. Didn't expect anything less from a restaurant in Chicago.
Was seated late after reservation time at a table that was wobbly that had to be propped up on something to prevent spills etc. and next to garbage. I asked server for bread to snack on she said she’d see what she could do and be right back she came back after i had already had my entree and said she forgot. my steak was overcooked (crunchy) and had a terrible mustard tasting butter on it. the coke was flat and took nearly 30 minutes to be replaced. i said i don’t want any of this..my hill was adjudged and received free candy as an apology but didn’t change the fact that i left there and had to go to shake shack down the way for food on what was supposed to be a fun dinner out with my son. NEVER AGAIN
First time here. And the kids and me loved it
Really good drinks but mediocre food. Will not eat here again.
This is very expensive even for a special occasion. While it was fun to say we went that is probably the only time we will ever go!!
Food tasted like a normal run of the mill catered meal that you get at a convention or cheap corporate event. Nothing to write home about. You pay for the apparent "cool" factor because there are a few celebrities who have made appearances at some of the Sugar Factories. People may say the shakes and drinks are over the top or awesome. The shake did taste good and definitely "homemade", it included a doughnut, cupcake and half the mug was dipped in chocolate. There really was not much actual milkshake there. More glass, doughnut and cupcake and show. Just seems gimmicky.
I also got a martini that was pretty sweet (I know, it's called the Sugar Factory so that's fine) and very weak. I would be surprised if it had one entire shot of alcohol in it. Weakest martini I have ever had.
I will not go back, my teenage daughter loved it, so I suppose it is one of those things. If you are looking for a good meal go elsewhere. If you are looking for some expensive gimmicky entertainment then this might be the place for you.
Good food, great shakes, fair service. $36 goblet drink was good but mostly ice and not much actual drink.
We visited with our 3 year old. Total mom fail on my part. I thought the place was more kid friendly. The server was awesome tho and brought our son a milkshake with a sparkler. He liked that. It was super clubby not exactly what I expected. Again, my fault.
We had a reservation to celebrate and had a great time up until the food arriving. We ordered a flatbread pizza and 3 crawling bugs came out of our food. We were horrified. Never had an experience like this in any restaurant. The manager was sincerely apologetic and tried to compensate us (which is why I rated service highly) but there seems to definitely be a sanitation issue with the kitchen. I would not recommend eating here.
The food is quite good, despite the fact that they are known for their drinks. I was surprised 20% was added to our bill of five people. So, make sure you watch for that.
Loved the Sugar Factory! Great atmosphere! Great service and lots of fun to be had! Love the signature drinks! Would definitely go back many times!
Kids loved it . Fun elegant environment .
Friendly service .
We will definitely be back.
Go for the drinks and the ambiance. Food is just OK. Staff was very friendly and helpful though.
The atmosphere and food was great!! Service was not great.
It was my birthday and my waiter Brittany was great
Had a great time with my friends during our trip. Our server was great. The Sugar Factory ambiance is awesome. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time
The customer service was horrible. I made 8:00 pm reservations i did not get seated until 8:25pm. I witness guest that came in after me with NO reservations get seated faster than we did. The server was kind of inpatient and not attentive to me and my daughter at all. The waitress served guest sitting next to us first and those guest came in after we did. I enjoyed the food the the start of our experience kind of ruined it for the rest of the night for me.
Our waiter barely checked on us, the food wasn’t all that great but the drinks were amazing. Would definitely go back though
