Sugar Factory American Brasserie - Miami Ratings and Reviews
Went to have breakfast and was highly disappointed. Pancakes were thin and bitter and the waffles were a little bitter too. Tables and chairs were dirty and looked old and unkept, and the overall experience was not what good. Way too expensive and not worth it AT ALL. I don't mind paying more if the food is worth it but here, no way. ☹
We waited 40 minutes just for our drinks! We could go 20-30 minutes without seeing our waiter! We were there longer than we should have been. I’ve been to the Orlando location a few times before, but this is my first time at the Miami location. It was horrible! For one, they forgot to put sauce on my burger. After I told the waiter, he brought it to me on the side and I had to put it on myself. Then they forgot to put the snickers bar on my milkshake. I spent $55 here and I regret it so much. Like the food, but the waiter DID NOT deserve that automatic 20% on my bill. Hated this location!
This restaurant is so over-hyped. The kids had seen it and heard about it from social media. We were in the area for another event. We called the restaurant to make sure we could valet park and nobody EVER answered the phone. Turns out, there was a festival in the area, parking near the restaurant was non-existent. The restaurant staff were not knowledgeable about the menu and the service was terrible (but gratuity is already included). Pizza was disgustingly undercooked and burger was average at best. I would not go back.
Terrible slow service. It took 20 minutes for a waiter to greet us even though there was four other other customers inside. Ridiculously expensive drinks and the food it's just the same thing you would get at a diner. The only good thing is probably the candy bar
The food was great!
Service was terrible, I made a reservation online and when I arrived, the lady outside walked us to the door. She opened the door and even held it for us as we walked in. She didnt follow us in, didnt give us any direction, nothing. The gentleman behind the counter was playing on a tablet and didn't speak to us for a good 10-15 mins while we stood there.
I took my children here for a fun afternoon. The food was average the shakes looked much better then they tasted. The wairress did not speak English well and had s hard time understanding us. The check had much higher prices then the menu. When I pointed this out to a manager she didn’t act shocked it was almost as if they do this regularly to see if anyone picks up on it. When they corrected it they added a discount too which was nice considering the shakes where completely overpriced at 22 dollars. The food is overpriced since it isn’t very good. It was fun to go once for the pretty desserts but we wouldn’t go back.
Great Restaurant with excellent food. Be ready to pay for quality. Our family of 6 was very impressed. Total bill was $180 no alcohol & no dessert. Signature drink is $42 & dessert milkshake is over $20.
Average meal ticket will run about $300 for 4 people with drinks.
We will definitely go back as we want to try different meals, drinks & milshake.
You can go for a drink, a meal or simply dessert.
Enjoy... I know our family will be back !
Overpriced!! The $40 drinks have very little alcohol and cost too much. Don’t even get to keep glass which is plastic and it costs $25 if u want to buy it. Disappointed. Very noisy and difficult to have a conversation with people u r with. Might be OK for coffee and snack. Would not recommend for a full meal because of the overpriced menu.
I think we could have had a great experience but our waiter was awful - 4 people, we didn't order drinks and only ordered lunch when it wasn't busy and we were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes waiting. Also the floors were so slick - probably because it was so dirty. If we would have had a better waiter I think we would have enjoyed the experience but service was awful
Horrible service our drinks took alomst 30 minutes to arrive , the appetizers arrive first I ordered a fish taco the tortillas were soft but the were hard and cold the dinks presentation were like a cheap bar tge taste nothing for it was describe in the menu everything was bad I ask to speak to the manager she don't show up my caramel martini taste la coco from a gas station. Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS PLACE plus the prices are more taxes then Bill, resort taxes ect even when u r no staying in the hotel
When we asked for the check we did not get the itemized receipt and had to ask for a copy - that is when we saw that we were overcharged for every item!!!
The manager said maybe there was a problem with the computer but the truth is they overcharge everyone and hope not to get caught. Afterwards I checked other reviews on another popular website and people have shared similar experiences about the overcharges since 2015.
Dirty(You don't want to see this place in the light of day) - TINY portions- OVER the top prices- What more do you have to know? The kids like it but what do they know about the value of a dollar. 3 people- Mom & Dad held back so Junior could have his $40. drink - The bill $180. and I was looking for a slice of pizza after to fill me up. Maybe if they didn't spend all their money paying the Kardasians to go there they'd have money to put more food on the plate :(
This was our first meal of 2018 and would have to say I have never been more disappointed! We arrived before the crowd and the waiter showed up to take our drink order and then was gone for a half hour! Then the manager offered to take our food order and another half hour and 3 of 4 meals showed up! After an hour and a half we could not take it anymore and asked for our check! They wanted to charge 20% for service after all of this! Please save yourself from the aggravation and go to so many other quality places in South Beach!
Food was lackluster, drinks ok. Burger was ordered medium, came out like it was cooked well done a couple hours prior. Watch prices, they upcharged two dollars over menu prices for each food item on the final bill and back peddled hard when I caught it. Overall not a terrible place, but the receipt thing was a shyster move.
I wasn’t happy I suppose because I expected more with it being south beach Miami. In comparison to my favorites Ocean Prime and BH
Polo Lounge the elegance and service is nothing close to. I requested a reservation with a note that informed I was coming there to celebrate a birthday. I asked for a call back for assistance. I didn’t receive it. When I attempted to call myself, the phone would go to a voicemail box. When we got there, there was no real need for a reservation for two people and I still had to inform them of the occasion secretly when my friend went to the restroom. Most places have some sort of birthday dessert complimentary when you’re spending a great deal of money however they don’t so I had to purchase the almost 20.00 slice of cake for them to sing to her and she can’t do much dairy so it was a waste 🙈. Also be aware there is a 20% gratuity like fee across the board. For our bill it was about 23.00 and we had two regular burgers, 1 drink that we shared and the cheesecake. Also be aware those candy goblet drinks are 40.00 each and neither of us felt a buzz although it could have been the gummy worm one we chose. I’m not sure. Last thing, if you look online, the photos of the restaurant are legit. It is small. There is not very much candy in the Miami location. The mall candy shops have more candy and when we went...there were atleast 20 kids banging lollipops in the cups so be kid friendly haha or choose the time you go wisely. We drove about 6 hours for this so I was a bit unhappy but my friend wanted to try it.
The experience was okay at the Sugar Factory on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach. I am on vacation, and the children are out of school for the Christmas break. I used to live in Miami over a decade ago so I decided to travel there from my current residence in West Palm Beach to encounter something different. My daughter told me one of her friends had a birthday party at the Sugar Factory and when I did my research on line, it appeared really nice and fun with the pictures of the celebrities who dined there previously. I was hoping maybe I would see some, maybe Denzel Washington or President Barack Obama.
The establishment appeared nicer in the video on line than in person honestly speaking. The candy shop and indoor dining areas seemed smaller, and the furniture outside was a dingy white. We ended up sitting outside at tables that are ground level, separate from the white furniture that needed cleaning or replacement. We received great attention from the staff overall. The most exciting part was receiving the goblet drink which is poured out at the table. It was fun seeing the smoky effect from the dry ice and the bubbles. We ordered chicken wings and fries and a club sandwich with fries. Some of the wings were a little scorched, not an even golden brown, but the taste was pretty good. The bill was so high for that small amount of food, and I did not care for the automatic 20% gratuity. I guess you pay that price because it is on South Beach, and near the beach. It was not fancy at all, not chi chi poo poo, but come ready to spend money! One non- alcoholic goblet was about $34, $6 or so less than the ones with alcohol, and sodas are $7 served in a little plastic cup. Ultimately, I am glad that we came, and can add this escapade to my family’s memories.
Do NOT go to this location!! I heard there is another Sugar Factory (in Miami) that is new - go to that location!! This Sugar Factory is extremely run down and I think they must be closing this location soon. We sat outside and there is construction going on directly next door. The entire meal we heard jack hammers and were fighting to hear each other. The outdoor chairs were riddled with dirt (I felt dirty touching them). We had THREE glasses of water with long HAIR in the water. The candy store had loads of empty candy bins. Since there is a 20% tip automatically put on all bills, the server knew she didn’t work hard. The food was simply mediocre but the milkshakes were yummy. Also be aware of the pricing - for 7 lunches it was $280!!!!! Overall this was quite the disappointment. We were visiting Florida from Los Angeles and thought this restaurant would be a fun experience. It was the absolutely opposite.
My service there was horrible..the waiter David M. Was by far the worst I've ever encountered. We went on a day that was not busy at all but it took him 30 mins to come to our table. For the level I assume this place is suppose to be on I expected better quality food. Would i recommended this place ....NO
35 minutes to get a glass of wine and a club soda . I complained after 25. We waited 50 minutes for appetizers. Dinner for three of our group of four came out and the 4th dinner (a hamburger) came out 15 minutes later. Really raw.
Brought out the wrong desert.
They charged us for an extra salad. They Over charged us for everything on the menu. Every single item was 2 -5 Dollars extra than the price on the menu. The total over charge was about 95.00. They removed the extra charges but I wonder how many people don’t check their bill.
