A great dinner! Our server was attentive and charming. The menu was quite broad, with a thoughtful variety of appetizers and salad selections. The pita were hot and soft. The sambusa were outstanding—crispy, with a tart dipping sauce. The kebabs had been well-marinated, and were perfectly paired with some of the best cherry rice I’ve ever had! Recommend highly.
The food was delicious. Best babaganoush I have tasted. Butterfly snapper excellent. Will surely return!
Really good sangria, nice waitress, kebabs were quite good, huge portions
We were at Sufiyas twice in 2 weeks. Both times the food and service were excellent.
We will be returning!!
Great service and delicious food as always !!! Absolutely love this restaurant. It’s truly a hidden gem !
Excellent Food and Service. Nice atmosphere. Noise level quite moderate.
Delicious well/ priced Mediterranean:Persian/ cuisine- authentic and large portions served a a lovely atmosphere. Actually quiet enough to have conversations in this restaurant.
This place is fabulous in all manner. Sitting in an unassuming strip mall you are transported when you enter and you will have superbly well prepared food with a warm and comfortable ambiance and lively staff.
Sufiya's Grill is a small restaurant in a strip mall. The wait staff are very attentive professional and serve with a smile. I chose this restaurant based on reviews and the need to try sonething different. I am so happy I chose Sufiya's Grill. We had falafel for our appetizer and Lamb kebabs for our entree. The Green rice was delicious. The Barberry rice was also tasty. The Lamb was well seasoned and grilled to perfection. It goes very well with the red pepper sauce. The falafel was the best I've ever had. Three patties with a beautiful crispy crust and plated beautifully with sauce and spices. We would definitely dine here again.
Sufiya is a great place for dinner. The food is always good as is the service. It's a lively crowd and worth the drive to get there.
Servers were attentive. Food was very good. We had the salmon kebabs and the lamb kebabs. Just want to comment that there was a lunch special for a couple of wines that was posted on a rear blackboard which we did not see.
Excellent dining experience. Delicious food with a nice quiet atmosphere. The waitstaff was attentive and host was pleasant.
I travel a lot for business and I'm always looking for good restaurants near my hotels when I travel that I can get a decent meal. I like variety and love mid eastern cuisine. Sufiya has to be one of the best mid eastern restaurants that I have ever eaten in. They were also very accommodating when I asked for a combination that was not on the menu. However, this is also where I was disappointed how they handled my meal. They priced the combination significantly higher than if I had ordered the items separately and significantly more than a similar combination that they had on their menu. In fact I only swapped out an item for another that, priced separately, were only $1.00 more. But my combination was more than $10 than the menu combination. It made no sense. When I questioned the difference I was told those were "the house rules", but my sense was they just made it up after I made my request.
The food, however was delicious and prepared very well.. my only disappointment with the food was that I requested medium rare for the beef and it came out more like medium well instead. They offer a side of rice that can be prepared in different ways from the standard (there is an up charge for the special rice, but it's worth it). I tried the cherry rice. It was fantastic! They have a short desert list, but the choices sounded good. I was too full to eat desert.
Service is prompt, friendly and professional, but a little abrupt. The dining area is small and they place the tables, in many cases, very close to one another. You cannot help but hear your neighbors conversations and makes the dining area a little noisy. I would prefer a little more space between the tables.
Friendly attentive service and delicious meals. We were a party of 3 and tasted a couple of appetizers with a glass of delicious white sangria. The main courses were well prepared. I love being able to have a salad instead of rice for a small up charge. Very reasonably priced. Save room for warm baklava or try the Persian ice cream. We will be back.
Great food and great value. The meat sampler meal for two- four people is best bang for your buck!
Wonderful dining experience. Will definitely return.
If you are looking for Great Mediterranean/Persian food, then go to Sufiya. We went to the one in E.Meadow, there is another one in Merrick. Service was wonderful and attentive. Food was delicious; I would definitely recommend it.
Food is always awesome. Delicious and abundant. Waiter Charlie is a pleasure; can't do enough to make your experience enjoyable. Just a wonderful place to eat
Neighborhood gem. Good food. Solid service. They could offer a better wine selection.
The food was so good. What was concerning was that there was only one waitress for a packed house. Perhaps with a better plan for staff management I would have felt more comfortable ranking Sufiya's higher but the food is well worth the trip.
Tried Sufiya's Grill on strength of the great reviews, and it did not disappoint. We were greeted pleasantly and seated at once. The setting is simple but quite comfortable. Service was friendly and attentive. The menu had something to suit just about every taste, with a particularly broad range of appetizers. Hummus was solidly good, served with hot, fresh pita. The kebabs were nicely done, flavorful and subtly seasoned and served with ample portions of rice and the traditional grilled tomato and onion. Prices were quite reasonable. As others have noted, reservations are definitely indicated, as many of the tables were full by the time we were leaving. They also seemed to do a brisk takeout business. Clearly a neighborhood favorite.
This is usually one of our favorite restaurants. But on this night our lamb was grizzly and tough. Our inexperienced waiter brought the wrong salad to my husband and kept trying to take our courses away before we were finished. He removed my husband's dishes while I was still eating. That is rude.
Our first visit after noticing how busy they usually are. Nice selection and the food was very good. Waitstaff could use a little more training. I think he was new.
I went here with my best friend for lunch. The waiter was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious!!! Nice atmosphere, great touch with open air front. Will definitely be back!!!
We had adana kebab and salmon kebabs. Both we very good. Lunch special gave a choice of soup or salad, we all got the soup - Lentil was also very good. For lunch specials the portions were bigger than I expected. Would visit again.
This spot was a GREAT find. The service was outstanding!Food was better that other notable spots like Ravagh. If your looking for authentic Persian/Middle Eastern - come here. You will love it.
As usual our dining experience here was wonderful. Waitstaff was excellent. Service was great and the food , as usual, was very good. Took home leftovers and was just as good the next day!!
The samosas were amazing! Loved the green and whites sauces and yummy bread. Great food for the price.
It was our first visit here, and we loved it, food was great, loved the atmosphere, will be
back again and again
Welcoming atmoshphere, even though a small restsurant. Very quaint calming aura. Waiters attentive. Food selection covers salads , meats, fish. Medittrranean style, grilled and fresh. Well presented and very tasty. Definitely will be a return customer.
This place is truly a great find. The dinner was delicious and the place though small was very eye pleasing. This will be my new go to place for special occasions. Loved every moment of the experience.
We have been going to this restaurant for several years. We have always enjoyed the food. The variety and quality of the items on the menu are fabulous. You are never rushed, we are always welcomed and made to feel extremely comfortable. I suggest all items they offer, as we have not had a bad meal there. Their prices are very reasonable. Their only drawback is a limited dessert menu. But to tell the truth, we are always so full after their amazing meals, that we rarely have room for dessert! A must go to!!!
This Mediterranean restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center on Hempstead Turnpike. We have been coming here for years and the quality of the food never varies. Always great food and large portions. Staff is always friendly and courteous. Restaurant has been redecorated about a year or so ago and is very inviting. Prices are good, food is great and portions are large. Come and enjoy!!
This restaurant never disapponts.. Polite, friendly servers, lovely, comfortable atmosphere, and superb food.. What more needs to be said, except....... GO!!!
May not be huge inside but you don't feel cramped or like you're sitting on top of others. There's a nice circular table right up front if you have a medium-sized group, as well as several square tables toward the interior & back.
Being that we weren't super-hungry, we skipped ordering any appetizers. They did, however, bring out a small basket of very warm pita triangles served with tahini sauce.
My wife and I each had a lunch special. She ordered the Falafel Platter with hummus and white rice and I had the Lamb Shish Kebab with brown rice. Both of our orders were accompanied by grilled veggies (onion, tomato, & green bell pepper). Our son had chicken strips with fries from the Kids' Menu...go figure. I also got a salad with my meal and it was fine - nothing fancy/special but looked good and tasted fresh. The lamb was juicy and very flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium with just a little pink at the center. The brown rice was fluffy and delicious and they gave you a pretty good portion of it, especially considering it was part of a lunch special. The platters were beautifully plated as well.
I enjoyed my meal the most and I thought my wife's falafel dish was fine as well. We had the Persian Ice Cream with Pistachio to top it all off.
The staff were attentive. At the outset, they took a little while to take our order but did come by and apologize and informed that they would be right back to do so. I liked that because we weren't really annoyed by that point or anything but they seemed to want to please us.
There is a banner outside proclaiming that they were voted by Long Islanders as "Best Romantic Dinner on Long Island" (see: bestof.longislandpress.c…). I'm guessing that would be more appropriate during a dinner service but I can see how they would have won that title.
Plenty of parking in the (shared) parking lot on a Sunday afternoon, which we also appreciated.
Food was awesome. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely return and recommend.
The weeknight price fixed dinner can't be beat for both quality and price. Never disappointing . We love the whole Cornish hen kebab- juicy and perfectly seasoned and served with generous portions of freshly made side dishes, salads and house made pitas, flatbreads and sauces. Located in a non- descript strip mall, it has a surprisingly serene vibe and well worth the trip.
Food was delicious and the price was moderate. Definitely enjoyed my meal.
The food here was delicious. It was our first time having Persian food and I was pleasantly surprised. It had a great and romantic atmosphere. I would definitely recommend.
We had the chicken kabob, the sultan I kebab and bademjun. All the food was excellent. We followed with Persian ice cream which was delicious.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
They have lunch specials for $12.
