SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified, and passed from generation to generation for centuries. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.
As of 1/15/22 and inline with the Washington DC vaccine mandate, we require proof of vaccination for every guest dining inside over the age of 12. Friendly staff and a really cool bi-level retro dining room , our waiter Kwame was attentive, knew the menu, and was excellent, with a ton of patience for a larger group on a busy evening. Loved the chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and the succotash with some great craft cocktails.
On a snowy night it was a wonderful evening. Service was excellent and the interior was beautiful. Really nicely done oysters and a crab cake to start. Good ribs and a perfectly done filet. Well done cocktails and a surprise chocolate desert.
A wonderful time as always! We dined on a snowy evening this past Sunday, and the place was quiet and extra chill. We enjoyed some happy hour drinks and snacks at the bar (excellent service by the bartender) and if you haven't had the southern sangria and deviled eggs, have you truly lived? Then we went to that super romantic private table in the back (big thank you to the host for saving it for us) and enjoyed a beautiful meal. The fried chicken and the creamy succotash are heavenly. Highly recommend the crispy green beans and literally any cocktail on the menu as well. The only thing I'd change is I wish they had a slightly bigger menu. I don't eat seafood and if you don't want to drop a lot on a (delicious) steak, there's not a lot of options. Thanks for a beautiful meal! 💜
I’ve always been a huge fan of the food at Succotash but routinely disappointed by the staff—this visit was unfortunately no different. From the standoffishness of the host staff when we arrived, to our server rushing though every stage of our meal and only being particularly pleasant right before we filled out her tip, I just get bad vibes from this place (even though the food really is *excellent*). Having been to the many other restaurants in the area with better hospitality, just manage your expectations.

Love succotash, but the food was slightly underwhelming compared to last time. I think the biggest factor was our table was in the corner, right under the heater, which made the air dry and affected the taste of the food.

Hostess was rude right when we walked in. We were seated at a very small table in the middle of traffic even though there were many larger tables open. Waitress was lovely, but it took forever for drinks and apps to come. When they did, the entree arrived immediately. This was uncomfortable because we were at such a small table. The food was disappointing.

I went to Succotash PRIME for brunch. Our waiter Asreale (may have spelled it wrong) was very attentive. I've been here multiple times and the service and food have always been consistent.

We were celebrating my 50th birthday and our 26th wedding anniversary. The staff was amazing. Our server was one of the best I ever had. The menu was so unique and creative. We started with deviled eggs for an appetizer, 2 each with the bacon jam and 2 with the pickled tomatoes. I had the dry aged ribeye steak that was the prepared perfectly in the smoker and the collard greens with ham and kimchi. My wife had the pimento cheese burger. We both loved our meals. Additionally, I had some of their signature drinks. I had the campfire bourbon drink, which was a cider drink with bourbon and a cinnamon stick, the old fashioned with smoked honey and the frost drink from the holiday menu. We finished the night off by splitting Nana’s banana pudding, and our server graciously added a dessert sampler that included the bourbon chocolate pecan pie with the orange whipped cream. I can’t wait to eat here again.

Very Disappointed in Christmas experience.
In a relatively slow period of time, we were sat by the bathroom and had to hear the air blowers every few minutes. Christmas menu was the reason I made a reservation for 6 for Christmas Day supper. It was not very busy at 3 pm, but it still took 15 minutes to be properly greeted and drink orders taken. Another 15-20 to order appetizers. When I asked to see the Christmas menu the server told us they ran out of lobster. That must have been their reason to NOT hand out the Christmas menu at all. I asked several times to see the menu and he kept repeating the specials verbally. This was not helpful and was quite frustrating. I chose this restaurant for the Christmas menu and they ran out of one of 2 entree options by 3 pm then pull the menu? The oysters were good, but the fried green tomatoes were covered in salad on top making them soggy. The Servers changed out and that was never explained or properly introduced, tomahawk was undercooked and very fatty cut, sauces not explained which was which, we were never asked if the drinks and food were to our liking. It was a very amateurish and disappointing holiday experience that I paid a lot for. I won’t be back.

Our server was so kind and accommodating and the food was out of this world, one of the most memorable meals I've ever had.
We ate here before a show at the Shakespeare Theatre and loved everything we had. The cocktails were wonderful, appetizer great especially the green beans. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees as well. The burger just melted in your mouth. We would come again.
Absolutely amazing taste of the South dinner! Beautiful place and great food!
The shrimp and grits were delicious. The cesar salad was very pretty and tasty, but a bit too much vinegar in the dressing. Dining mates loved the fried chicken and the oysters. We sat at one of the banquettes with chairs placed on the outside for two of the four in our party. The chairs were a bit awkwardly placed, seeing to be in the middle of walkway aisles, and the table was a bit small for four people. Overall, it was a lovely evening and we will definitely go again.
Our server Kristen (spelling?) took care of us upstairs for dinner on 12/19. She was awesome and definitely contributed to our experience. We will be coming back (again).

Amazing meal. We had the southern sampler for two, it was a lot of food for the $$ and delicious front to back. Very cool room and excellent service. Would go back again on next visit to dc for sure.
Experience overall was great; just a few hang ups: my friend’s drink was wrong all 3 times and you really need to be prepared to be there for at least 2 hours.
