Succotash - Penn Quarter DC
SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

I absolutely love this restaurant! Great Happy Hour, delicious food and the staff goes above and beyond to be accommodating! The wings are a definite try as well as all of the slider options. Kudos to all of the bartenders, restaurant manager and staff who made all 23 of us feel so welcomed!
Lovely setting, interesting cocktails - wonderful, innovative southern style food with a unique twist in every dish.
Will, our waiter was very attentive.
The food was excellent and had a great veggie option!
This restaurant did not disappoint! I wish I could have tried just about everything on their brunch menu. Their appetizers were gorgeous and my whole family loved them: the crab cake, sticky bun, and beet and goats cheese salad were excellent! The lobster Benedict was delicious, especially served with the warm potato salad. Also you should get the chicken and waffles! The pulled pork was a lovely sandwich! Go and enjoy the beautiful decor and yummy food!
Great food. Service was a little slow, but it was super busy so forgivable. Definitely will be back.
We were on our way to the Chelsea Handler show. Good food, great drinks, love the atmosphere!
Fabulous food: fried green tomato salad, fried chicken & waffle, BBQ ribs, side of fries and chocolate waffle & chocolate pecan tart for desserts. Fun atmosphere, but loud. From hostess to server, great interactions and service. They also serve fun cocktails and creative non-alcoholic options. Not inexpensive, but portions are generous-dad and daughter shared the chicken & waffle and we all shared the ribs. We would highly recommend and return again, and again, and again.
FANTASTIC food and service! We went for brunch and ordered chicken & waffles, grits, collards, and avocado toast. All were delicious and I would order everything again. Best brunch I've had in a long time. I'm looking forward to returning!
The service was amazing. The waitress was very attentive and welcoming. The ambiance overall is lovely. The food was great. I got the chicken and waffles and my friend had the salmon with the dirty rice (rice was slightly under seasoned). Overall it was a wonderful experience. I will be going back again soon! Thanks Again Succotash
Great food and service. Friendly, attentive staff who made us feel welcomed and at home. Great for the entire family!
Awesome, I love this place. Food and service is great.
Excellent server. Very good experience all around.
Great food and service. The price was a little bit more than anticipated. The cocktails probably pushed it over. But considering everything was wonderfully prepared... I am good with the $126 tab.
When I first visited for happy hour I loved it and that’s why I returned for a birthday dinner. The portion for the crab salad on a bed off lettuce was misleading. My daughter then decided to order a different dish, which was the shrimp and grits. She was disappointed again. She picked thru it which was a waste of $25. The manager never came out to see why food was returned to the kitchen. However, the waitress was wonderful. I may return for happy hour, but dinner I can’t recommend.
Really tasty food- I recommend the fried green tomatoes, the crispy string beans and the watermelon and peanuts!
Awesome food and great service
The brunch menu was expansive. It had southern and Korean influences. The deviled eggs were a favorite snack of mine- light and filling. The food in general needed a bit more of a kick to them- like pepper or Old Bay. We ordered the Shrimp and Grits as well as the Biscuits and Gravy. The two bloody Mary's offered on the menu were superb, preferred the Southern one with the bourbon. 10/10 would recommend for a casual but scrumptious brunch in Penn Quarter.
We had an outstanding brunch before my brother leaves town for some training! Desi was an amazing server, she gave us a great and memorable experience!
I had never been to Succotash so I was excited to dine there. We had made reservations online and were a bit early, so we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Once our table was ready, our hostess came to get us and we were seated at a nice booth. We ordered all the snacks, ha ha. I had the salmon and my date had the steak salad. The food was delicious and our waiter SAS awesome!! Overall, I had a good experience. It was a bit too noisy, but it's DC, and the place was busy. I'd recommend it to friends.
We were actually disappointed in Succotash, after hearing all the rave reviews. The one vegetarian at the table had the one vegetarian dish — which has a rather bland, watery rice dish. The smothered chicken was doused in an odd sweet sauce. Spice/heat meters aren’t revealed in the menu so an otherwise delicious halibut was overwhelmed by the etouffe. Delicious appetizers, salads, and snacks.
We were 13 minutes late and hostess very rude, i honestly thought we were on time and reservation was earlier as I must have hit wrong time. She did recover and seat us within 6-7 minutes. The rest was lovely and all other staff excellent, food very nice, great drinks & desserts particularly extraordinary!
Awesome place, great food. Normally when a party is not all there you have to wait, half our party was stuck in traffic and they seated us so we could wait and order drinks. Great service.
I love the food and the ambiance at Succotash! It’s a must visit restaurant for me whenever I’m in Washington DC.
It was a lovely evening. Bar service was great to start off the evening followed by excellent service (and recommendations by our server) for a nice meal.
Took my son to lunch to celebrate his birthday and had a wonderful time. Service was attentive, food came quickly, and was delicious. Beautiful space and the atmosphere is great fun - you can hear people having a good time, but still very easy to converse in a normal voice. Will definitely be back, and would recommend with no hesitation!
Absolutely wonderful service. Great food with a unique twist. The location is gorgeous, but the only downside was the noise level was so high that it was hard to hear ourselves talk over dinner.
Collard greens are worth the price of admission. Wonderful bourbon cocktails.
The food was outstanding. Went there for a lunch meeting. Not noisey. Loved the ambiance. I had the deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes and shrimp toast. My companion had salmon and asparagus. Will definitely return.
Excellent food and a truly original menu. I thought the food prices were very reasonable considering the excellent ingredients and preparation. I would describe the food as being very rich comfort food with a gourmet twist. The food was so flavorful and rich that I would have appreciated a more neutral side dish like rice or potatoes to offset it, especially the dirty chicken, which is heavily coated in a thick sauce. The chicken and waffles was excellent. The collard greens with kimchi and ham were incredibly flavorful. The short rib was giant and cooked to perfection. The shrimp and grits was subtle, not as boldly spiced as you get on the Gulf Coast. It was the only dish we had where you might have wanted just a slightly larger serving. We didn't get any appetizers, and still left stuffed. Specialty cocktails were nicely done. The decor was well matched to the southern menu and vibe. It was noisy and crowded, but it was still possible to have good conversation. Lighting was comfortable, low key. I thought the servers were a bit busy, but maintained a pleasant efficient engagement. All in all, it was a wonderful time and I will definitely return.
Wonderful evening with family, though a little TOO energetic for little one's. Would love to see an actual Children's Menu, though was happily surprised when the our server told us there were kids portions available. Excellent service, and fantastic food. A little pricey, but welcome to Downtown DC!
Great food as always with. Ed Lee restaurant
Food was amazing and it is such a cool building. Wonderful experience!
Food was ordinary and service was barely ordinary. Definitely giving a bad name to the prestigious Michelin star review system.
We had a great experience. The food was great, the service was good, and the atmosphere was very nice. It would have been nice to have more salad options, but we enjoyed the menu regardless.
Fantastic food, enticing ambience and superb service. Highly recommend.
Great food and service. Plan to return.
Incredible service, ambiance, and food!
Had the Taste of the South brunch. It was delicious and the service was impeccable.
We went to Sunday Brunch before heading to a National's game. What a delightful experience. The cocktails were amazing and the food was the perfect blend of comfort and refined. I would highly recommend the deviled eggs and sticky buns. The biscuits and gravy are no joke either. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and considered it our favorite dining spot on this trip through DC.
