About Stuzzi - Richmond

Naples is the birthplace of pizza, and Neapolitan pizza captures the pure essence of this simple and delicious Italian food. True Neopolitan pizza (or D.O.C. pizza, which stands for 'Denominazione di Origine Controllata') is so pure, there are only a handful of restaurants in the US to make it! Stuzzi creates that authentic product. Our wood fired oven was hand built, on site, to exacting standards. The oven's unique "beehive" design allows the temperature to be maintained at a blistering 1000+ degrees Fahrenheit -- hot enough to turn raw dough, tomatoes, cheese and basil into a blistering bubbling pizza in about sixty seconds.

Some of the best baked spaghetti I have had. Individual and family portions are generous. With a pretty good wine selection. Enjoyed the Montepulciano.

Our first visit to Stuzzi’s — Arrancini rice balls were as delicious as those we had in Rome, as was the pizza and cannolis. Between watching the pizza dough being tossed, and the taste of the food and wine, we felt like we were back in Italy! Will be returning soon!

Great food, very authentically Italian. Wood fired pizza like you would get in Italy and perfect Cannoli. But they'd almost run out of wine and didn't have Italian coffee :(

We were a party of six. Arrived 5:30. The only table occupied. After placing our order it took in excess of 30 minutes to be served - I assume they were doing a brisk delivery service because the chef looked busy. We only ordered pizza. The wait should not have been that long. We should have just asked for one check but we asked for individual checks and that was a mistake. The waiter was nice, but inept. The food was okay - nothing to rave about.

The food is just phenomenal. There were out of far too many wines on wine night and the wait time from ordering to serving was not insubstantial. Regardless, we love Stuzzi. There is no pizza like it in Richmond to be found.

I was really disappointed with this experience. The room and the food were ok, but my wife ordered a sandwich and salad. The dressing was way too heave on the salad, which was on the same plate as the sandwich, thus drenching the bread.

The real disappointment was the service. It was spotty, slow, and disjointed. Food came out haphazardly. Perhaps the worst part was there was an older gentleman, I assume the owner, who was berating the staff where the diners could see and hear it. It felt like Hells Kitchen. While there were service issues, one shouldn’t hammer the staff in public. I won’t be back.

The restaurant was packed and I had made a change in people a couple hours earlier and moved the reservation back 15. Sat us right on time which was nice as people were waiting in line to get in. Had the family pasta and family pizza which was perfect and great value. Service on point. Dessert with the donuts was great. All around perfect night.

Watching families of long-time Richmonders sample better-than-authentic, made-in-house traditional Italian dishes is nothing short of the ideal dining experience. Stuzzi is warm and romantic and certainly the understated neighborhood gem for which I wish nothing but success.

This used to be a wonderful place in its prime but we stood at entry for over 5 -7 minutes and were totally ignored. Finally had to stop a server who acted annoyed but finally got seated. Place was dirty and worn - flies all around our table until we moved open condiments. Bathroom for women disgusting and toilet did not work. Food was good but not great but everything from getting a drink to food was slow. When food was served no napkins or plates or utensils had been provided previously. We used to come all the time but had not been there for 2-3 years . Not coming back

We went for a birthday celebration and were greeted at the door by the owner who was extremely friendly and hospitable. We are originally from New Jersey area and every bite reminded of us home. We sampled many items, all of which were delicious, but would highly recommend the gnocchi and pizza.

Way too slow for service. Plus too hot inside. Looked like AC unit was out. Owner checked on us and when we said the wait for food was way long he didn't apologize. Took 30 min for a salad and crostini that didn't require any cooking. Will not be going back.

There was a major bug problem....after we sat down and ordered (we ordered quickly since we were hungry), we noticed that there was an infestation of flies all over the wall behind us...we moved tables, but there were still lots of flies and the floor was very dirty. We were disappointed since the food was very good.

I would not recommend Stuzzi. We had a reservation, and when we arrived were told it was a good thing we wanted to sit outside because there were no inside tables available. So, if we had wanted to sit inside we would have had a long wait despite our reservation. The patio is pretty and pleasant but the chairs are highly uncomfortable. Our server was young and very inexperienced. The drinks took awhile and came out at different times. My husband and I each had one drink and were never offered a second although we were there for well over an hour. Our waters were never refilled. We had calamari as an appetizer which was very good. For dinner we had pizzas and pastas. The pizzas came out well before my husband's and daughter's pastas. We tried to wait for them but it took so long we all ended up eating the pizzas. The pizzas were tasty but the crust was floppy and soggy in the middle. My husband's pasta came out maybe 10-15 minutes after the pizza. It was so salty he could barely eat it. When my daughter's pasta never appeared we questioned the server who said it must have been taken by another server. She said she put in a rush to have it remade, but it still had not come out by the time we were ready for the check. It ended up being ready as we were ready to leave so we had it boxed to go. They did remove that pasta from our bill. We will not be back.

Very good restaurant. Known for their pizza. We didn't actually order pizza, but everything else was at or above expectations. I felt the day to be a little pricey for not having ordered entrees and just splitting salad, small plate, and app. If you can get your kids to split a Kid portion meal, that would be my suggestion. The Kid portions are way more than most can eat and are suited to split. However, with to-go boxes the kid meals turned into additional meals that evening and for lunch the following day. I will surely return and try the pizza.

What a terrible disappointment. We've been to Stuzzi many times and the food especially the pizza is always great. The service is never great but this time it was horrible. We were seated and didn't have a server for a long time. We also didn't have water, napkins, plates or silverware. We ordered and the food came out before the drinks or the plates or silverware. We actually never got water even after two servers said they would bring it. The food came out cold and in two enters came out before he other two for our table and it was clear the waiter had not put the two orders in. The owner/manager sat at the bar while many tables complained and never got off his stool. I'm sorry to say I will never go back and not sure how they can stay I business with this type of service and management

Overall the food and ambiance were fine. The main problem with the experience was the service. I know our waiter was busy because this was saturday night, but still, there were long lags of empty waters and diet cokes on the table, sometimes over 20 minutes (there were 3 of us). He misplaced one of my friend's orders and hers came out almost 15-20 minutes after the other two. He took our dessert order but didn't submit it to the kitchen (or something went wrong in the kitchen) so we cancelled it. Then it took 20 min after that for the checks to come. I usually give waiters the benefit of the doubt but that performance was sub-par.
