One word, spectacular. Just sorry I live in New Jersey
Stubborn Seed is some of the best food I've ever had in Miami. Amazing!
The food was fantastic and creative The restaurant is all concrete floors and walls and was ear-splitting loud. The service was terrible for us and the pace of the meal was deadly slow. Entre and appetizers came at the same time. Will not go back or recommend it.
Tough one to rate. The flavors were amazing, but the portions were so small I left shaking my head at the bill while needing find a slice of pizza somewhere because I was still hungry.
We had a party of 5 and the noise levels made it so you could only hear the person n ext to you.
We ordered the tasting menu/wine pairing ($220/ea) for the experience. It was a big night out. Each dish was yummy and special, the timing however was atrocious. 6 courses w/ wine took over 3 hrs. There were 30 mins waits between courses at times. Wine was served way before the course and the usual ‘explanation’ about the pairing was NON existent. It all lacked sophistication. After some prodding, the main fish and meat courses were unfortunately served back-to-back when some time would be customary. The apologies were vacuous and only pointed to a kitchen back up. “Please try us again when mgmt is better” This was a stressful meal that overshadowed the culinary experience. I’d be hard pressed to go again. MacDonalds is less stressful.
The food was excellent. Service was excellent too; food came out in the right sequence and timely. The waiters and staff knew the menu well. The daily-updated entrée selections are limited but they have something for every taste: beef, fish, chicken, etc. Portions are of moderate size, but sufficient for the average person. Most appetizers are big enough to share.
This restaurant is for tasting delicate flavors and they deliver on that. If you are looking for large portions and standard recipes go to a chain-restaurant where you would be able to take a doggy-bag home of chicken cacciatore. :-)
The waiters tell you upfront that that the tasting menu is a collection of small portions and service is 2-2.5 hours. We did not not opt for that because we would not sit that long at any restaurant.
Yes, it's pricey but you can have an excellent meal, as we did, for ~$85 per person including shared appetizers, entrée, a shared dessert (large portion) and wine for two. We did not leave hungry and it was an excellent meal. BTW, bathrooms were very clean. We will come back.
Stubborn Seed is overpriced and unimpressive. I do not recommend this restaurant, you will leave hungry. My girlfriend and I dined here one Saturday night. We had no choice but to opt for the tasting menu for $150 each. The menu consisted of 8 dinner “plates” and 2 desserts. We did not opt for the wine pairing, which is $70.
The “plates” are more akin to 8 different bites of food, and left me hungry. For example, on the night of our visit one of the plates on the menu was a “gooey jalapeño fritter.” While it was abundant with flavors, the fritter was about the size of a quail egg. Other offerings included cacio e pepe cheesy puff, yellowfin tuna crudo, and a koji wagyu strip loin. I was especially disappointed with the wagyu, which was about an ounce, difficult to chew and not cooked properly. For less than the cost of the tasting menu, you can get a properly cooked wagyu filet nearby at Smith and Wollensky, if steak is your fancy.
Another thing to be cautious of is that the dinner service here is agonizingly slow. We were seated at 9 and received our last plate at 11. We did not stay for dessert because it was late and we were both still hungry after finishing the dinner plates. So much so that after leaving, we walked 3 blocks north and got cheeseburgers for dinner.
Stubborn Seed is for those who enjoy spending a lot of money to look trendy and get full from a drink of water and some lettuce. If you want to enjoy a great tasting menu, skip Stubborn Seed and get a reservation at Macchialina. For about $125 you can enjoy a lovely tasting menu, with wine pairing, of 5 healthy sized dishes, including their decadent homemade pastas, and dessert.
Incredible tasting menu. Wine pairing was a perfect match
We often search for Michelin rated restaurants for their high quality food and experience, and this was no exception. We were lucky enough to get the tasting menu (stops at 9pm) so we got to experience many dishes. Outstanding standouts (we recommend you get full orders of these) were the kusshy oysters; the crudo (outstanding); and the A5 wagu tenderloin. Service was exceptional with waiters:food runners providing clear descriptions of the dishes and techniques employed to prepare them. The ambiance was a bit loud like a bar scene and while Contempary and attractive, the acoustics of hard surfaces throughout are not forgiving. Overall, this is an excellent date restaurant, special occasion, out with friends, or foodie sanctuary.
EXCELLENT experience, everything was top notch, one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Food was great. Atmosphere fantastic. Our waiter was excellent. I wish there had been a little more interaction with the kitchen/chef. We ordered two tastings and two wine pairings for a double birthday.
Stubborn Seed presents delicious, innovative and beautifully presented dishes with careful attentive service. In Paris, these dishes would be offered in a quiet temple to food. In Miami, the atmosphere is loud, almost raucous. The front room, adjacent to the bar, is quieter and better for date or conversation. Foodies who find themselves in Miami should definitely seek out Stubborn Seed. Also good for special occasion, group dinners. Caveat: the weekend tasting menu is $$$$$!
Ford is excellent , service is average, noise level inside is very high and staff does not wear masks .
Great food!! Good service.
Really delicious food, great wait staff, great drinks, and great presentations.
We came on a Friday night for 9:15 seating. They were good about being clear that it is tasting menu only Friday/Saturday which we appreciated the transparency on and was definitely fine by us. Will start with the positive being that the food was quite good and tasty (4/5), other than that, not much to write home about. Overall, Stubborn Seed tries hard to be something it's not. They go through the right motions but generally just miss the mark on a few different fronts. The service was wildly slow and inconsistent-- we did not get our drinks until the 3rd course and courses came out with little to no logic (e.g. we received 3 courses at once then had to wait nearly 30 min for each by the end). In terms of bang for your buck-- while again, the food was generally quite tasty, for $150 per head we expected a lot more (in quantity, taste, service, etc.). They give you an actual cheese puff for the first course. A $20 Cheeto. My partner and I have had infinitely better tasting menu experiences at half the price (and we live in NYC, for added context). Overall, a fine experience if you have money to blow with little regard-- otherwise, would stick to high quality restaurants nearby that will leave you with a much better taste in your mouth, literally and figuratively.
Todo delicioso, muy buen servicio!
Old fashioned was fantastic, and a few of the dishes presented were innovative and well executed. Unfortunately was underwhelmed by the prix fixe, both in terms of quality and execution. In comparing to other menus we've experienced in other cities really did not feel like this was worth the money.
The waygu was some of the toughest meat ive ever had. extremely gamey.
One of the best restaurants in Miami. Period. Fantastic service. Give this man a Michelin Star!
Michelins star prices without the taste, service or atmosphere
Great place for unique cuisine and delicious cocktails
Absolutely incredible. I Took the 8 course tasting menu and was absolutely faultless. Mind blowing food, excellent service. This really is one not to be missed.
Delicious food but a bit pricey for portion sizes
Zum zweiten Mal in 2 Wochen und einfach grandios. Wir haben zu viert 11 Gerichte gegessen, eines besser und ausgefallener als das andere. Wirklich herausragend.
Best culinary experience in years. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Dishes created by chef supreme with very sensitive taste buds and artistic
soul... A must visit place when in Miami. Shocked, it’s not Michelin rated!
we sat outside. food was great. noise was loud, especially because a 20-yo guy was showing off his super-car . . . didn't ruin the evening, but either that or sitting inside to risk omicron . . .
Love, love, love this place!!! Totally cool, hip vibe with amazing food and service. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing, it was awesome! Totally would recommend it!
Food was so original & delicious! Can't wait to go back!
Food taste great, but too long and portion too small.
Spent $260/person and 3.5 hours for the nye prix fix + cocktails.
I am more full and happy with the three slice pizza I got aftewards for $20.
Pro tip for guys: Eat actual dinner before you come here. It's more to talk/impress someone while eating bite size snack every 25-30 mins.
We were late for our reservation and the management held the table for us. Fantastic foods and great services. Highly recommended!
Amazing!!!!!! Best food I’ve had in a while and incredibly knowledgeable and great servers.
Had real high hopes here. Menu very limited, too many fried options. 3 options for main dish. Do not get the smoked waygu for $85. Waiter didnt have a welcoming approach from the start and waned further till the end. Terrible stomach ache to boot.
I have been fortunate to eat at a number of excellent restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area and Las Vegas. The Stubborn Seed is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at.
We got the Chef's tasting menu. The food was creative and full of a wonderful mix of flavors. The service was excellent and the interior of the restaurant was attractive.
The only area where I think there could be improvement was the music level. It was so loud that I had a difficult time hearing the waiter when he was talking to us. For this level of restaurant, a more restrained music level would be better. This is not a taco cantina.
Great experience overall!!! Food and service were excellent! Chef came out and explained dishes. They helped us celebrate our friends’ 30th anniversary with custom menus! The desserts were amazing!
What happened?? The service was so slow. Almost an hour to get an appetizer. And it was cold. We were told the kitchen was closing early. We had a 7:15 Resy. Why would that make a difference? You still have the same number of tables to service as any other night. My main course tasted fishy. It was also tossed on the table rather than placed and the server rushed off. The waitress seemed indifferent to my request for understanding what was happening. To pay these prices and have staff one foot out the door is upsetting. Your customers deserve more so just close on Xmas eve in the future.
Mala atención. Servicio muy lento y mal preparado el personal. Una experiencia desagradable y cara por USA 400 dos personas por el menú de pasos. No vuelvo más
Wonderful food! Staff very polite and professional.
Trendy treasure- one of the most phenomenal meals to be had. We ate 2/3 of the menu and each course was an artistic presentation of multi layered taste sensations. Don’t miss desert as they are worth every calorie. The artisanal cocktails are over the top and land a good punch. This might be my most favorite meal ever!
Presentation of food and service. Multiple flavors that were all excellent
