The food and service were outstanding. Good choice if you are looking for a culinary experience!
Chef Jeremy Ford definitely hits a home run on every aspect of his restaurant. We have dined here many times, and each time he surpasses the last visit with his innovative dishes and presentation. His staff and Ryan at the front of house are outstanding and warm and welcoming. Our favorite restaurant on the Beach, bar none.
The chef is a genius! Just love this restaurant! Our server, Jake, did a great job, as well.
My husband and I love Stubborn Seed...but...never, EVER spend your Valentine’s Day here!!! The place was an absolute MESS. They mist have allowed waaaaaayyyy to many reservations, and need to enforce a stricter policy for people who fail to be on time. We were basically screwed :( We opted to sit outside, by choice, just so we could eat at a somewhat reasonable time. (Our res was 9:30, made a month in advance; by 10:00 we made the seating decision.) We figured okay, we can sacrifice ambiance and still enjoy our meal. Wrong! They basically forgot about us after our appetizers, and we weren’t served entrees until 11:45 pm, N hour after apps. Both of us were practically falling asleep, and left without dessert - normally our favorite course here. Our drinks were comped, which was a nice gesture; but it really did little to make up for such poor delivery overall. This was not at ALL the dream Valentine’s dinner like we experienced here in 2018 :( I would implore the managers not to allow so many reservations next year, and also, turn people away if they’re not on time. Otherwise, guests who are on time are the ones who get the short end of the stick.
Tasting menu was amazing!!
Menu was very limited.
There was a terrible smell. Like old wet mildew or mold. Could smell it from the table the entire time and it was especially strong walking by the kitchen on the way to the bathroom.
I never have posted any reviews for anything. However, I felt compelled to write this one after our awful experience
food is presented so beautifully that you hate to eat it , but when you do the flavors are glorious. Chef definitely knows what he is doing and as everything is prepared as ordered expect to wait for some courses. You can't go wrong with the lamb or chicken dishes with the flavors he imparts and I am really only a fish eater so that says something. We also had the pastrami spiced smoked fois gras and it was incredible .
The tasting menu was fantastic. The food compared favorably to Michelin two and one star restaurants we have enjoyed. Each preparation was original, sophisticated and complex. The seared foie gras was absolutely incredible. The entire meal took longer than necessary and the staff seemed overcommitted at times. We will be back and recommend Stubborn Seed to all our friends.
Was very excited to dine here, but left disappointed. Had the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Wouldn’t go back...
a true gem amidst so many overpriced and overhyped miami restaurants. Perfectly executed tasting menu and wine pairings - the spacing, descriptions, and quality of the food and the wine were beautiful. Miami needed this caliber of execution so, thank you, to all the staff (especially our server Steven and his back waiter who’s name I didn’t catch) of stubborn seed. Stay passionate and killing it!
Did the 5 course tasting. Food was great. Server was very good. I don’t like too fast service but it was a bit too slow. Pricey but of course it is Miami Beach.
Our reservation was not honored, they sat us 1 hour after we reserved while a couple that arrived after us were seated before us. That made for a sour hour which didn’t allow us to enjoy our time there
Everything was exceptional 😍
I so wanted to knock at least one star off of this rating due to a nearly 45 minute wait past my 9:15 reservation, but honestly the food is just too good! Everything about this location rocks. The ambiance and music is lively. Jeremy the chef was at work the night I was there and you can watch the kitchen through a large glass window. I can’t recommend the food enough! We had the chicken, red snapper, and simple greens. The place is small and the wait can be long, but I promise it’s worth it!
At the begining I wasn't so happy because I made the reservation a week in advance and they gave me the worst table. By the door. They didn't move me when I asked to be seated in another table because it was "reserved". That was a bad starting point..but they fixed it by sending us 2 glasses of prosecco with a nice smile. Food and service were great. Would defined come back. Dessert took too long to arrive but those cookies were delicious!
The food and presentation was outstanding. The waiter did an excellent job of explaining the menu and offering suggestions. Definitely a restaurant not to be missed when visiting South Beach.
The restaurant has a nice vibe and depending on your location you can watch the kitchen. The menu comes ala carte or a 5 course and 8 course “surprise” tasting menu with either a 6 drink beverage pairing or wine pairing. Our table allowed us to view the kitchen but was in an awkward undesirable location in the center of staff activity opposite the door to the tables outside. My dining partner and I both opted for the 8 course surprise menu and 1 wine pairing and 1 beverage pairing. Initially the evening started very slowly as we sat for 15 minutes before anyone approached our table. After we ordered we were both given a glass of Prosecco and butter slathered rolls. Having barely had a sip or 2 of the Prosecco, the first 2 courses showed up in rapid fire succession, followed by a long stretch of dead space, followed by more rapid fire dishes followed by dead space and the final dish. Food was a home run. Misses was the service, rapid fire, dead space, rapid fire, dead space, food arrives but no utensils numerous times, wine and beverage pairings arrived 3-5 minutes after the dish was served. The 6 drink beverage pairing was uninspiring and the wine pairings who knows what they served you as they never brought the bottle nor talked about the wine except to say “it’s red” or “it’s white”. When I’d ask what the wine was it was clear the waiter had no idea. The beverage pairing was the same as the wine pairing except for a beer and a saki in lieu of a wine. Summing up the dining experience, forget the “surprise” tasting menus and beverage/wine pairings and go for the ala carte and select your own food/wine/drinks. Food is good but hospitality and service grossly under par with the norm for this type of establishment.
Absolutely Delicious food but so extremely noisy can’t hear each other
Service at many diners surpasses their casual attitude. Have to ask for more wine, silverwrre when used is not replaced. Maybe they think thats their definition of casual dining. The noise level is beyond the beyond and the prices are what should be paid for a first class experience. This is not one. The lobster dish was excellent, the chicken just oK. Mush better experiences to be found nearby.
Excellent le découverte
Luckily we came later in the night it helped to empty out the restaurant so that it felt morr intimate at our table. Hard to compete with the noise from the table next to us and the music. The food was outstanding just would recommend not comin during a busy time.
Food beautiful presentation and delicious. That said...Took way too long between courses on the tasting menu. Servers did little to explain the dishes. For the quality and price they need to speed up the kitchen process but slow down the delivery at the table and tune in to the client. Music selection was a curious mismatch. Hard rock to easy listening. Incongruous with the whole vibe.
Fantastic tasting menu with excellent wine pairings
The chai waffles with coffee foam , biscuits with onion jam and the snickerdoodle cookie were fun, exotic and delectable.
It was me and my husband date night. Unfortunately it was a bit loud. And we had to wait for our reservation. But overall food was excellent, cocktails also. Service could have been better. Missing napkins till mid meal. I will go back plan on trying the whole menu. Really enjoyed the presentation, flavors and creativity.
We ordered the 8 course tasting menu and the food was very good. Sometimes there were just too many flavors going on...as if the chef was working too hard to create a unique dish. The wine list was good, but not great and they did not have the wine we ordered from the menu and had to make a second choice.
Me and my partner came to Miami for the weekend and wanted to try Stubborn Seed after reading all the great reviews online. We were not disappointed. It was better than any reviews that I read. The food amazing, the staff extremely professional and knowledgeable and with a lot of personality. It was all around a perfect experience. Highly recommend it when in Miami.
The food and presentation was Five Star. We did the five course tasting menu and the pace was way too fast. We sat down at 6:00 and it was 10 -15 minutes before we had settled in and ordered. By 6:45 , our third course was on the table! I went to the rest room briefly after the third course...when I returned the fourth course was already on the table waiting. Delicious, but seriously? The wine for each course was brought before we finished the prior course. Great meal , but needs to be slowed down to fully enjoy.
Fantastic dining experience! The chicken is a must!!! Fabulous service from the moment you step in the door.
The food and service was outstanding. Next time we will get the 5 or 8 course meal. A little loud for conversation. Will definitely be going back.
Tasting menu was excellent. Service was lackluster.
Great food and service. I understand why it was rated the best restaurant of 2017. The only concern was that there was very little on the menu for my friend who was a vegetarian. There should be some more options in this era of an increasing number of vegetarians..
Hats off to the Chef, the cuisine is sublime. The waiter was polite and apologetic for an error he made when ordering our appetizers. The fois gras arrived at the same time as our main courses. The manager, on the contrary, was far from hospitable and too busy on his computer to offer an apology.
Food is outstanding, service was solid.
We had heard about SS for a year but this was our first visit. The dining room is very 'energetic' (read: too loud to talk comfortably for people over 60). Four of us sat outside. The manager, Ryan, could not have been nicer about moving some tables around to accommodate us. One of our party has major allergies and the staff was great about dealing with a difficult diner. Food: Fabulous! We were informed that the menu changes regularly so not sure it's helpful to name dishes here, but all the fish dishes were fantastic. Others shared the foie gras and the lamb dishes and loved them as well. There wasn't a disappointing dish among the many we tried. It is clearly one of the top restaurants in South Beach today.
Incredible Experience! Best meal this weekend. Will be very very hard to beat! The food, execution, presentation, and flavors are bar none exceptional. A must for all foodies.
We did the 8 course tasting menu.. big problem with meat course...took 30 min to get it(half hour time lag between this course and previous) and then came out cold...
Consistently the best meal in Miami. Always my #1 recommendation.
