Stubborn seed has a great vibe, dimly lit surroundings create the perfect fine dining experience
The bar is fantastic, try the cocktails for sure
The menu is seasonal and always being changed with new innovations from the Chef/owner
We ordered from A la carte menu, the chicken and waygu beef dishes (Aug 2019)
If you decide to indulge in dessert, try the snickerdoodle cookies with the malted milk ice cream!
We ordered two desserts but found that after a starter and main each, one would have been enough
There is a sharing concept in that, food arrives when it's ready, so you share each dish as it arrives
It was great food by far and we will go again for sure
Knocked off 1 star because, imho, it's not the best in Miami
But you can't overlook this place
Amazing food. Okay service. Higher prices. Cocktails good. Food Menu great.
Food was very good. A couple dishes missed the mark - the fish toast was burned and had too much fish to toast. We did like the wahoo, chicken, and suckling pig. The big issue was service from the kitchen - everything took way too long between courses. Front of the house was very apologetic but it ruined the experience. Great value meal with Miami Spice menu, but the kitchen needs to figure out expediting better. "The kitchen is backed up with Miami Spice tickets and yours is last" shouldn't be an excuse. We ate at other miami spice restaurants this week and didn't have this problem.
Very very good restaurant I really enjoyed it and there Miami spice menu was a great deal since the regular pricing is high. The meal was incredible from start to finish.
Went for Miami Spice but was not given the Spice menu until we specifically requested it. Also, the menu on the website was significantly different from the Spice menu that night so you should call ahead on the day you plan to go. In any case, we had the crispy potatoes and the peach salad for appetizers, both of which were good. For entrees we had the chicken, which was the best chicken anywhere - moist, tender, with a nice sauce and creamy mashed potatoes - and the bronzino with flavorful sauce. They offered a new dessert on the Spice menu - a coconut flan, and we also had the snickerdoodle cookies with malt ice cream - both were rich and a highlight of the meal. Service was excellent.
Miami spice menu was great. The suckling pig was outstanding.
Amazing food. Nice work Jeremy
Dining at Stubborn Seed reminds me of dining at Le Cirque in 1995. The food is creative. The flavors are pure. It is truly exceptional. My only regret is that it is so outstanding, it willl soon be difficult to get into.
This review upsets me to write. The first time my wife & I ate @ Stubborn Seed was back in January 2019 and the entire meal was extremely memorable - one of the best. No so for our 2nd visit yesterday celebrating our 43rd Anniversary. We were truly looking forward to this occasion. We both opted for the 8-course Chef's menu w/ wine pairing which is what we had ordered for our first visit 7 months ago. We also supplemented with a mini Junmai Daijingo (300 ml) sake - this was the start of a rather mediocre meal - the sake was supposed to be clean & crisp - it was clean looking but the nose and the flavor was milky and not pleasant at all. Now the food was very well prepared but something has happened to the accompanying sauces. One of the dishes was halibut that was almost grated placed on top of thick toast that was pretty well burnt. There was so much hot peppers added that the fish was totally overpowered. It was somewhat Ok if you knew how to eat it - eat the fish separate (still just hot & spicy) and then tear the toast apart and eat the center of the bread. Another dish was fried potato pieces - why?? It was simply a filler dish - no reason for this. There was a celery root dish w/ a nice soft quail egg on top of caviar but what was the purpose of the caviar - totally disappeared in the dish. Another overpoweringly spicy dish was sashimi local Redfish nicely piled up but surrounded with a super spicy white colored sauce that was pretty because it had green oil floating on top (cilantro?). Again it was OK if you knew how to eat it - keep the fish away from the spicy sauce that absolutely killed the sashimi. One standout dish was a lavash cracker topped with delicate chicken liver mouse as good as fois gras. This was the best dish of the night BUT I really did not appreciate the waitress putting her finger into my chicken liver. Desert was great! My wife & I really will have to struggle deciding if we will ever return to give the restaurant a 3rd try. SORRY.
The experience was incredible. Starting with food and service. Highly recommend to people that are foodies. Jeremy Ford you did good.
Took my family and friends here when they were in town and hands down the most amazing meal with attentive and sweet staff. Best restaurant in Miami!
Quite literally the best meal we’ve had in a long time!
Got gift cars for my B-day...I thought it was going to be all flash and no substance but the food was delicious!
Delicious food in an intimate, cool environment. Would definitely return for the chefs surprise menu
Our waiter was freaking awesome and the food was even better. Drinks were good too!
The quality recieved did not match the price charged.
If you have been delaying going to Stubborn Seed because of the price point, now is your chance. The Miami Spice menu- which will change often- is a great value. Food is creative and delicious, service is professional and helpful without being snooty, ambiance upscale but comfortable and welcoming. Kudos to Ryan for seemingly being everywhere at all times, keeping everyone happy and things running smoothly. Will return.
Chose this restaurant after researching the exec chef and reviews— was thrilled that all dishes exceeded expectations and our server gave the best service we received on our entire trip to Miami! We did an 8-course tasting menu to get a better idea of the chef’s best dishes and creativity, and the food was beyond spectacular— will definitely come back here! Pictured are our favourites for the night :) thank you guys for a really great experience!
Awesome service & outstanding food. . .
Don't even think about it. We spent$300 for 2 ...and are convinced we got a bargain. Every dish was originally conceived ...and executed flawlessly. Literally a top 5 meal for me and I've eaten with Keller, Ramsey, etc
Highly recommend this spot for Incredible food, service, ambience. Vladimir was fantastic. Everything was amazing.
Food was pretty good. Attentive service. Limited menu for brunch
Best Resturant. Always have brunch I come down from west palm beach just to go there love it
Hands down one of the best meals of my life. We did the tasting menu, and everything was incredible. From the garbanzo spread on the homemade bread at the beginning to the gooey deliciousness of the cookies at the end and the perfection of the fish, foie gras, oysters, and everything else in between, Chef Ford absolutely slayed dinner. The flavors were unique, interesting, and delicious. Nothing was too salty and every plate was balanced. The presentation of each dish was impeccable. I can't wait to go back.
So this was the second time we ate here and it was even better than the first time! We’re from out of town but if we lived in Miami I’d eat here once a week. My wife and I both got the 8 course meal and each dish blew us away! Our son ordered a chicken dish on top of a pile of mashed potatoes he’s very picky and absolutely loved the chicken. The atmosphere is unlike most other restaurants as everyone works in unison and it seems like every single employee loves what they do and where they work. Our server was fantastic and that’s hard to find here in Miami. Jeremy came out a couple times and that was awesome! He is truly an amazing talent and has something special with Stubborn seed. The sugar cookies is by far the best cookie we’ve ever had. My son said he’d rather have those cookies over any toy! That’s how good they are.
Best restaurant in Miami and it’s not close.
Thank you and we will see you guys again in a year!
One of best meals ever
Went on a date night with my husband and overall it was a pleasant dinner experience. Service was great. We chose to go with the tasting menu paired with wine. The food did not disappoint, very delicious. But what I didn’t find very nice was the fast that our wine was not served from its bottle but rather it came already poured in our glasses. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to take a look at the bottles while tasting. And they were not spectacular. So my recommendation is go with the food tasting and forget the wine tasting.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The server was excellent and enjoy his company.
Fantastic tasting menu with wine pairing. Great service.
Creative, delicious food. Ambiance allowed for wonderful appreciation of each dish.
Chef Jeremy Ford justifies his Top Chef award as he produces an imaginative and delicious selective menu of shared dishes. The restaurant reflects his passion in both menu and decor - even down to tiny bouquets tied with twine as a napkin ring. The staff lives up to his standard as well, providing attentive but not intrusive service. They create an open and welcoming environment.
This was our second time here and we are definitely coming back! The food is amazing! The cocktails too!! We started with the Kusshi Oysters and shared a Pork and a Fish and they were all outstanding! A must if you are in Miami!
We had the 5 course dinner and it was excellent. Very creative and delicious. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. All foodies in the SOBE area should try.
We booked SS after a few foodie friends recommended the place. In addition, after learning through another site ”Eater” that they had a great deal for brunch we didn't hesitate to reserve for my sisters birthday. However, upon discussing the menu, we were told that the ad/publication of their $35 3-course brunch menu was not valid and it is now $55 although it was written by the site within the month.
Although a bit disappointing to hear, the staff was able to accommodate us by offering a couple of free round of mimosas. The food and service were excellent, and I will definitely go back provided they are consistent with the information they put out to the public. A must visit for foodies!
Food was exceptional but at 9:30 half of the menu was sold out, which was a bummer. Decor is more Brooklyn than Miami.
Fantastic food! The staff were personable , knowledgeable and definitely cared about our experience.
