Jeremy and his team prove that they are the "rock stars" of the miami food scene........well done
The food was prepared well but the lobster dish, the chicken and the lamb did not have a lot of flavor. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks. The portion sizes are way too small for the prices. The foie gras and the bread rolls and the oysters were delicious.
This was our second visit to Stubborn Seed. Both visits were fantastic. This time, we chose the Miami Spice menu. We ordered the Simple Greens with aged parmesan, scattered hens & Meyer lemon, the Warm Celery Root, Crusted Halibut, Organic Chicken & for dessert we had Dallas Wynne's Whiskey Cake and the Snickerdoodle Cookie. Everyone of these items was outstanding & delicious!!! The service also was as good as it gets.
Amazing food! And the cocktails are great too. I highly recommend brunch. Their cauliflower with sunny side up eggs is delicious. I also recommend their pasta dish during dinner. It changes from time to time, but is always great.
I wrote up our experience (SAD/BAD) on FB then thought I should see what others are saying on YELP. Stubborn Seed was HIGHLY recommended by foodie friends ..and Open Table ranks it as #2!.. but the critical reviews ALL said the same, they even used similar phrasing as I did. The KITCHEN is incredible, but the dining is spoiled by every possible problem from FRONT OF HOUSE. Your staff do not match the energy and passion of the Kitchen.. and create a failed dining experience, because the front of house do not care.. not one whit. AND you have been told this from as long ago as one year past. Here are two phrases from YELP: "Will definitely NOT be coming back." X 6
and from 11/15/2017
...."Replace your front of house staff immediately! They're hurting your business & don't have the maturity to handle your great new enterprise. Male MD & Female Hostess on 11/14 dinner were unwelcoming & cold & very flustered along with making us wait for our table & our drink order."
In our case the waiter could not have been less disinterested. Do you not want people who work for you to be as excited about your food as clearly the creative chef is? Who is the manager maybe they are the ones ruining the experience.. whatever .. ARE YOU LISTENING??
Chicken was amazing
The food was good and the waiter was very knowledgeable. How ever there was some problems in the kitchen. We took the tasting meal and it took too long for the courses to get out.. we waited 20 min between dish to dish.. there was a couple who sent next to us who came before us and took the same menus and while their dishes kept coming out ours didn't... at the end it felt like they wanted to through us a way and while we where still eating already put the silverware for the dessert.. we felt like there was someone waiting for our table and we had to go.. and I am pretty sure we did not get all the dishes we where supposed to get..
We had some issues with the restaurant: it took 20 min to be seated (and we had reservations), and the hostess directed us to the bar which was full-committed, hard to accommodate our party properly.
We decided to have the Miami Spice Menu, and two of the tree coursers we ordered were missing, and that was frustrating because one of them was the "famous" Warm Celery Root. After that the worst part: It took more than 45 min between the appetizer and the entrée course. At that point we were too disappointed and with no appetite. In the end, even the dessert was compromised - The nutella cookie came without the malted ice cream!! They were completely unprepared to handle the high demand, even with most of the guests eating the pre-fixed menu (I work with the same kind of business and I know that it helps the operation - it makes things easily in the end of the day).
The food is amazing, but this experience was really bad. The server was very friendly and did great! The manager was very attentive and we did his best to making up for the issues, and because of that we probably would give a second chance for the restaurant.
Everything excellent, top top notch!!!
Best restaurant we visited during our South Beach stay!
Dinner at the SS was a very nice experience. Superb service and outstanding food! It was an opulent Miami Spice dinner... This is my second time there and always a first class experience.
The only con: very loud custommers...
Best restaurant in Miami!!!!
The food is deliscious while artful and creative
The service is great each time !
Relaxed atmosphere for such elevated food
We went for their Miami Spice Menu.
I really liked the chicken dish, but my wife's halibut had a strong fishy smell which was a little off-putting!
For desert, they only had 2 chooses on the day we went. (although on the Miami spice online menu their were 3 listed.) They had whiskey cake, and snicker doodle cookies. unfortunately, my wife can't stand the smell of whiskey, and she hates cinnamon, which was in the cookies! So she couldn't eat either, and the waiter when asked stated that there was no substitution. (Not even if I paid extra, which I offered to do.) I think if a restaurant has a menu item advertised as available, and it's not, they should bend the rules a little to compensate.
The Miami Spice is a pretty good deal, but I would never go back and pay their regular price.
I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Stubborn Seed twice now: once for brunch and once for dinner. Both occasions left me incredibly impressed. The drinks and food are crafted to perfection in both visuals and taste. The vibe hybridizes the Wynwood arts with the feel of an upscale farmhouse. Brunch is relaxed while the ambience at dinner is upbeat and somewhat noisy. Certainly this is a must visit in South Point, and it has become one of my favorite spots in Miami.
Second visit to this exceptional restaurant, my top food experience in Miami ! It’s a must if you want to experience culinary genius!!
One of the best meals I have ever had. This restaurant is getting even better!
Do the Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. Totally worth it!
Stubborn Seed stands up against the best Miami has to offer. Probably needs a more varied menu, but for execution it's the equal of Alter, Milos and Bazaar. And boy do they make a wonderful (and different) margarhita not a fruity party drink-- a proper cocktail.
Small selection of food. Out of the wine we wanted and not a very extensive list.
Everything great I love this place
Excellent food with picture worthy plating in an unexpected laid back setting. Based on the food pics, my husband and I dressed up but we were wayyy overdressed for the crowd.
I really wanted to love this place but the food was good, not great. Kinda bummed.
Good food but average service. A bit pricey given the overall experience.
Great restaurant and amazing food.
Menu was very creative. Everything was delicious, familiar yet unique.Cocktails were fabulous. Can't wait to go back.
Amazing food! We had the tasting menu and each dish highlighted unique tastes and textures. Courses included duck liver spread, butter poached lobster, infused mellon, oysters, caviar and more. Each dish better than the last. Only thing I would recommend is substituting the wine pairing for one nice bottle of wine. Chef came out to great us also, terrific guy! High recommend!
Went for the tasting menu, was not disappointed! Service was great, Matt took fantastic care of us. Each course was more delicious than the last. Hope to be back soon!
Underwhelmed by food, service was very good
Went for Miami Spice. Food was absolutely delicious. I also got a cocktail and it went so well with the meal. Everything is incredibly thoughtful about the restaurant from the food to the decor.
Miami Spice 2018
Exceptional food, service, setting. Truly a superb addition to South Beach which needed a place with sophisticated beautiful food. Thank you Chef Ford.
The food was creative and delicious. The Spice Menu was a great value with excellent choices. However, the service was not friendly or efficient.
The food is AMAZING! We went for Miami Spice, and were quite impressed! The flavors were unique and incredible! I could eat celery root all day everyday if I had the chance. Service was great and all staff were hospitable and friendly. We will most definitely be back on our next trip!
Really enjoyable. Some unique food here, and I’ll be back to see what else the kitchen comes up with.
My party of 4 did the Chef's Tasting Experience with wine/beverage pairings. While our overall bill was on the expensive side, everyone LOVED the experience. The worst one of us said (it was me - and we're foodies) was that this was among the top 5 meals I've ever had. Others in my party were convinced that it was THE best meal they ever had. Back to the price issue - how much would you pay for the best meal of your entire life? Against that yardstick, the bill was just fine. The couple at the table next to us had a conventional 3-course meal and, since we had each of their courses during our own 8-course meal, we know they had a great dinner. But this couple watched as this long parade of courses came to our table and the 4 of us uttered an endless series of Ooooohs and Aaaahs like we were attending a fireworks display. Each course was exquisite in conception, appearance and taste and every beverage or wine pairing was sqaurely on point. The service was attentive and both personable and professional. This was my fourth time at Stubborn Seed this year - and I drive here from Fort Lauderdale because there is NOTHING in Broward County to compare with Jeremy Ford's magic at Stubborn Seed. I could go into details about this course or that course - but that is unnecessary. This is one of those places where you can trust that whatever the kitchen sends you will be exceptional. For example, I don't like raw oysters, raw tomatoes & eggplant. But if they're on the menu at Stubborn Seed, I'd give it a shot.
We went for the brunch and it was awesome. I loved cauliflower and my husband loved the pancakes. The restaurant is nothing like Ford’s last one (Matador Room, which I also loved). It is intimate and approachable. Staff were friendly and attentive. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat.
We had a great time having dinner at Stubborn Seed on a Saturday night, while we enjoyed our drinks the biggest star of the meal was definitely the food, hands down. All the dishes were inventive and beautiful to look at, best dishes we suggest to try are the smoked foie gras, lobster on curry caulifower, and the oysters. Enjoy!
Superb in all ways.
Friendly even with its upscale food. Not fussy even though presentation inventive.
The only bad part was that we had to wait a while (almost 30 mins) even w/ a reservation on a busy Friday night. Aside from that, service was great, and the food was exceptional.
Food and Service was outstanding!! Highly recommend it to those who love quality food versus Quantity. Although, the portions are not small by any means.
