Come be apart of our family and enjoy our famous cheesecake, and our traditional family style Italian food.
Chicken Marsala and the dipping oil/spices were outstanding, while the Spaghetti and Meatballs, missed the mark.
Food was bland. The people at the bar were super loud..... I had been there a couple times before COVID for lunch, and it was really good.... This time not so much. Everyone was disappointed... Our server was good, though.
We really enjoyed our evening at Stumolo’s.
No waiting... Good food Family Style, lots of food. Great bread and Oil dip...
We were celebrating birthdays tonight. This was our second chance for Stromolo’s. Hoping as they settled on the experience would improve.
We started our evening with cocktails. Nothing exceptional noted here. The Godfather and Chocolate martini were unremarkable.
We chose the calamari appetizer. Was good, but again nothing exceptional for $24. I feel like it wasn’t home made and the same I could get at any cheaper Italian restaurant.
Next was the Vinney’s salad. Sadly this was our favorite part of the meal. A generous portion, the olives were a nice quality, the dressing was good.
Our first entre was the one recommendation by the waiter. Chicken Scarpiello. A whole box of pasta, cooked just ok, then topped with two over cooked chicken thighs, sausage and some vegetables. Missed the mark for us. Almost felt like it had been sitting a while. It wasn’t cold but wasn’t served piping hot either. And lacked any type of sauce. The pasta was dry and really missed the mark for $34.
Our second entre was the linguini with scallops. Again for the price and expectation of a nicer Italian restaurant we were very disappointed. The scallops were the tiny scallops that felt like they had been frozen. Again, over cooked. Although out of both main dishes this one was better. Had a light sauce of wine and butter. Pasta was cooked nicely.
There was a significant wait for our food, the waiter did apologize and compted us dessert. We had the dessert sampler which was very nice. The cheesecake being our favorite.
Not the evening we had hoped for.
Great service, great meal
Every time the door opened, cold air blew throughout.
The service was slow. There was nobody in the restaurant and I had to go ask for utensils. It took a long time to get checked out. Those were the bad things. The good thing was the food. It is awesome. If you like real Italian food, you need to try this place. It is authentic.
Excellent food and service! Owner came by to tell us thank you for coming in. We will definitely be back! Simply outstanding!!!
Service was great! Very good portions for “Family Style” servings. I wish I could remember our waiter. He was fantastic!!!!
Our first time eating here for our 19th anniversary and we were not disappointed!
Food was in large portions and very tasty. That Cannoli Cake was fantastic! The staff was friendly and very courteous. The prices were low in comparison to the amount and quality of the meal.
Our meal was fantastic as always. This had become our night before Thanksgiving tradition. Everyone loved it! The food took longer than usual but we were in no hurry so it didn't affect our dining experience. Love Strumolo's & will be back soon.
Great service and the food was very good. Recommend the Chicken Marsala and the cheesecake is way out of bounds creamy good!
My wife and I met a friend of mine that I really hadn’t sat and talked with but once on over 20 years. Strumolo’s was the perfect place for this occasion. The food and atmosphere were just right! The General Manager was very hospitable and a really great guy to talk with. He and the staff were excellent! I plan to bring our kids here when they come from Tennessee to visit. We drove 3 hours to get to this restaurant but it was absolutely worth the trip!
Delicous food and excellent service. Highly recommend.
We knew Strumolo's was a family-style place before we went, so we weren't surprised at the menu with prices for 2 and 4. I didn't really think it would be a problem, but I think the ambiance clashes with the model. When I think family style, I think of grandma's farmhouse or a wooden table with mismatched chairs, not red-leather semi-circular booths. It was a bit off-putting.
Anyway, the food was ok. We had chicken parmigiana. The chicken breast was a bit dry, but tasty, and the sauce was good, but too sweet for my taste. The service was friendly and attentive plus the owner stopped by to say hi, which is always a nice touch.
All in all, it was pretty average for the price. I wish them well, but I doubt we will go back.
Great place, great people!! Had real Italian food.
Excellent food as always and really enjoyed talking with the staff
Our new favorite in downtown Roanoke! Chicken Marsala is delicious and best cheesecake ever!
Great place with great food. We felt completely safe in regards to the China virus pandemic. They were very diligent in ensuring our safety.
New Italian restaurant in Roanoke, TX, open about 5 months. We were there on a Sunday night @ 6:30pm for dinner as a party of 4. We knew before we went it was a family style set-up for dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty, a couple of other tables. We were greeted and seated immediately, and the waitress arranged for water right away. However, with an empty restaurant we were seated in a 4 person booth, which if not for family dining that would have been fine. We ordered a bottle of wine. I would like to see a bit more variety in the wine and a bit more range in prices. We got a pretty good bottle of Merlot for $35, but of course we needed 2 bottles. We all agreed on Caesar salad as a starter. The waitress recommended we go for the 2 person option for all of us as opposed to the 4 person option. This was the correct call, there was plenty of salad and it was good. We were provided bread and olive oil, very good. We then had to decide what to order. My wife who was there for her birthday ordered the meatballs and spaghetti for 2 (you cannot order less), two of us agreed to the chicken marsala for two, and another person ordered the chicken alfredo. This led to a lot of pasta (3lbs), but we managed. My only issue is there is not enough room on the tables for family dining, When you have wine, bread, plates, and 3 large bowls it becomes crowded. They did get a tray to put a couple of bowls on, but it is hard to reach and pass from the tray. The food was very good. I also appreciated that they grind the parmesan cheese at the table and not a shaker. We did have cappuccino's and dessert, cheesecake for one, and cannoli's for two of us. Warning, two people can eat the cheesecake, and there are 4 good size cannoli's on the plate. The desserts were very good. Our service was attentive and excellent. Water was refilled regularly. We were checked regular and plates were removed promptly. Minor improvements are needed, but we would recommend.
Server and atmosphere were great. The food was average/good. Bread was very good.
Service (Hannah) was accommodating while not being a nuisance. She explained the entrees are to serve 2 or 4 so you won’t over-order, but what happens if the two of you want different entrees? Food was excellent and the decor was elegant but very comfortable
Food was good but limited menu.
Our second time dining at Strumolo’s. Great experience again.. wonderful food, awesome meatballs and nice al dente pasta. Our order of Rigatoni w/ gravy could have come with more gravy. We did ask for more gravy, and server brought out a small dish, which was appreciated! The service was great.. and the cannoli are excellent!! We live nearby in Bluffview and will definitely continue to patronize Stumulo’s
Parking on a Saturday night is problematic, but available if you'll walk a block or two. Food quantity is very ample, we were a party of four and split a salad for two - and had enough. We split an order of meatballs with spaghetti and chicken picata. Enough for all. The cannaloni were a little plain, but good. Split the tab in half, about $50 with each person having a glass of wine. Good restaurant, not too crowded. Good food. Full bar.
Strumolo’s was amazing! The overall setup and decor of the restaurant fit perfectly with the traditional family style Italian theme. The owner was extremely nice and was seen throughout the night helping the hostess, bringing food to tables and even bussing a few tables. Service ran very smooth and I would never know that they were a fairly new restaurant. The food was delicious! We will definitely visit again!
They serve the meals family style, so keep that in mind before you go! Also, this is an Italian place and they put cilantro on the meatballs for some unfathomable reason. There are a lot of people that HATE cilantro and would never ever think to ask if it's in anything at an Italian restaurant.
Everything was excellent! We were catching up with friends and the waitress checked on us a couple times to make we were okay but not too much. We got to take our time and never felt like we were being rushed
Thought we would give this place a try after hearing nice things about it. When we went in there was no one else there, 1800 on a Thursday night. We were greeted and seated right away, good start. Waiter came up and took care of us and took drink orders. After getting the drinks and forgetting a couple of little items that we had asked for came back to take orders. Ordered the calamari, the Caesar Salad, Chicken Parm and Chicken Marsala.
The calamari came out and was a LOT of food and it was prepared very well. The salad on the other hand could have been cut up a bit better and much more to bite size, it was also lacking in flavor, I like salad, but I do like it to have a taste other than mainly lettuce.
As the evening went on, the service was a bit slow, glasses emptied and the server was not to be found around the table. When you looked over, he was busy on his phone and not paying attention to his table. Again, we were the ONLY people there.
As the main dishes came out, they seated two more families within 10 minutes of us getting our food. The entrees were not bad, not what I would call gourmet 4 star range, but were not what I would expect from someplace charging what they do and trying to be what they weren't. The chicken Marsala was a bit salty (but that is always subjective), the spaghetti was under cooked and cold when it got to the table, we didn't ask our fellow diners if their spaghetti was under cooked, so we don't know. Their chicken parm looked and according to them tasted like something out of a frozen entree. That is quite a shame.
The cheese cake after dinner was quite nice, the cream puffs were however quite dry and didn't have cream in them, but instead a custard. Through the rest of the meal and the dessert the server did come over a couple of times, and did take care of us at the very end, but all in all was very disappointing.
For the price, the menu was quite lacking, there were no veal entrees and not much else.
Hands down some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten. The service was outstanding and kudos to Chef Christian. Take a chance on Strumolo's, you will not be disappointed!
6 out of 6 stars!!! We went for the first time and it was ah-mazing! Calamari, shrimp scampi and sausage and peppers - all delicious. But the sausage was sooo fantastic. Service was perfect. We will definitely be back and they were so accommodating with our one year old. Definitely felt like we walked into a Italian family’s personal kitchen.
Meh. Underwhelmed when we walked in, atmosphere was just lacking. The menu is surprisingly limited. We ordered a salad which was ok but drenched in dressing. Waiter said kalamata olives came on it but it had green olives instead. Not sure if the waiter or the chef was wrong since the menu doesn’t have descriptions. We picked chicken Parmesan as our entree. I thought it was average, my husband hated it. My piece of chicken was ok, his was super tough. The spaghetti was good but not good enough to make me want to eat another meal at this restaurant. Also, they only set the table with one fork and I used the same plate for my salad and my entree because no one offered to get me a new plate. It was just weird. The serving dishes are gigantic and covered up the whole table in a hurry. Super awkward. The liquor and wine selection was very good and the service was good. Everything else was just “ok” to “not great.” Other local options are far better unfortunately. I really wanted to love this place!
Family style portions were generous. Excellent Caesar salad, followed by chicken parmigiana and spaghetti and meatballs. Cheesecake is a must!
The service was just okay, our waiter never went through the process of the restaurant (they are family style) I know that seems a little self explanatory, as first time visitors it an explanation would have been helpful.
There were three of us and ordered the following:
Calamari - meh would not order this again. There was not a good flavor just bland and the red sauce that comes with it didn't help it.
Chicken Parm - it was okay nothing special or to write home about. It comes with a LOT of red sauce and a HUGE bowl of spaghetti. If we had known that we would have not ordered the next item.
Meat balls - we assumed it was just meatballs. Nope it came with 4 meatballs and A HUGE bowl of more pasta. We thought we were only ordering meatballs.
We ordered Tiramisu and Cheesecake for dessert. The Tiramisu I could have done without it had way to much fluffy cream stuff and not really a whole lot of anything else. Wasn't terrible but I have had better else where. The Cheesecake was good.
Excellent food and service. Good choice of wines. Be aware of a unique serving style. All items are served for 2 or 4 people. It is a lot of food for sharing at your table. Many 2 people salads and entrees will serve 3 individuals.
It was a cold & rainy evening & the Restaraunt was freezing. We all wore our coats through dinner
The server seemed new. He was nice but we had to ask for refills on drinks, bread, needed silverware and the service was slow. The Restaraunt was not busy at all...maybe 3 tables had customers
The portions were skimpy compared to the cost.
Very poor experience!! We waited 20 minutes to be served bread and water. Our meal took over an hour to get to the table. For a dinner that cost over a $100, we have many better choices and will be dining elsewhere in the future. Don’t waste your time or money. I will say our server was very apologetic however the restaurant offered no discount or apology.
Ambience was good, chicken was a bit tough, sauce was bland, and they are an Italian restaurant that was out of Italian beer ☹️
