Everything was great!!! We will definitely be going back
Food awesome small portions but over all good food
Service was not good at all
Slow slow slow
Great view, great service - just a good place for a meal of any type.
It was beautiful day to eat outside for lunch. The cocktails were very tasty. The crab soup was very creamy and full of crab with the exact amount of sherry. We shared the tuna bites and they were fresh with just the right amount of zip. The stuffed flounder was very fresh and accompanied by a wonderful lemon caper cream sauce. The fish tacos were perfectly cooked and well balanced with accompanying condiments. The service was exceptional as well.
Amazing food and amazing service. Definite winner!
The overall experience was just okay. The service was the issue. Although the restaurant was not full to capacity or very busy when we arrived the service was very slow. Our server was nice, but there just did not appear to be enough help or support for her to manage our table and others. The food and drinks took a very long time. The manager appeared to be in the restaurant, but he was walking around and offered NO support to our server to make our service faster. I was disappointed. I came to this restaurant before in early May on a Wednesday night and the wait was over an hour. When our conference came back to Norfolk we made a reservation and I anticipated this experience. However, I was very disappointed. The manager should have at least stopped by our table to say hello or check on us and he did not. If he had, I would have shared this with him. They need more servers on a Monday night or need to support the few they have to make the experience better. I don't think when we come back to this city anyone in my group of 12 will return and I will not recommend this place to others.
The food is very good and it was easy to make a reservation. The only odd thing is that you are charged for bread on the table. Very strange.
Place is gorge! Food was very good. Perfect location, right on the water. Has a great outside deck. Fun place for a group or a date night. First time there and will go back.
Enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant, overlooking the water. The menu had a very good variety of options from which to choose. The service was good, staff appropriately attentive.
Great place, great food, and awesome service. It wasn’t maxed out but the noise of chatter carries very well so it’s a little hard to hear but other than that beautiful and yummy. Will return for sure
Great, food, and outstanding service . The management was on point!
Went we a friend. We both ordered the stuffed flounder with capers cream sauce. My friends fish was raw in the middle. Very disappointing considering the price for the dish. They seemed to be way understaffed. There were several empty tables, yet people were being told it would be a 30 minute wait. Later that night into Monday, both of us had some serious bathroom issues. Since we both had the same dish, we had to attribute it to the food. Once again, very disappointing!!! I had heard good comments about this place but that was the last time I will visit
William we do hope you come back and try us again.
I food was pretty good. But none of the dishes my party ordered really stood out. Service was great. There were several large parties and a slight hiccup in seating but they did a great job accommodating my party. I would go back but have to admit I would not go out of my way to return.
They no longer take reservations but we were able to get a table with no problems.
For a seafood place there was little selection. Most stuff was fried.
The food was absolutely delicious!! I had stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. I ate every bit of it. The portions were very good. The only reason I wouldn't give an overall score of 5 stars is because our waitress sucked. The other wait staff seemed very on point but ours was slow about getting everything. Luckily the food made up for her poor service.
Hi Alexis do you remember the waitresses name? I am glad your food your food was to your liking if you can send back if you can remember the name. Thanks so much and I am sorry your whole evening could have not been a huge success.
Stunning view! Nice ambiance. Good food. Wine specials. Kia was an excellent server! Good place.
The service we received from Rashida was great. The food was good, and my family enjoyed it so I’m happy..
Heather was great as usual! Annual MEAC visit and simply was worth the wait. All the staff were friendly and food and beverage was great!
Thank you for a GREAT review please come back next year MEAC and visit us!
All of the food was excellent and the view was beautiful. We will be back.
Awful experience. We were one of MAYBE three tables in the whole restaurant tonight. Were told that they were out of shrimp (at a seafood restaurant, so half the menu), then it took about an hour for our food to arrive (again, we were 1 of 3 tables in the whole place). At least 3 out of 10 meals were incorrect, and one wasn’t even placed so he didn’t start eating until the rest of us were done.... and his meal was even wrong then. Stay away from this place.
Outstanding food and we had the best server ever. Thank you Felecia we will definitely be back!
Brunch with a friend for my birthday. Food was great and a great value.
The restaurant wasn't crowded and we watched the sun set while enjoying fantastic food. I like their desert menu but I wish they did more "to order" deserts.
Brunch Menu has excellent Eggs Benedict - perfectly poached eggs, but there is a big difference in the Crab Benedict and what was served: The egss were on top of mini-crab cakes, a disappointment when the menu says: "CRAB BENEDICT Two poached eggs and fresh warm back fin crab meat topped with hollandaise sauce on toasted English muffin". I was totally looking forward to back fin crab meat, and questioned why I received crab cakes instead. The server said she has only seen crabcakes served and wasn't aware of what the menu said. She was an excellent server, really tried to please. Kitchen didn't cooperate when I requested the English muffins be toasted to a golden brown. They were white and gummy, something I see at other restaurants often as well. She came back with a fresh plate of golden brown toasty English muffin! So I gave up on crab meat and totally enjoyed the crab cakes, but if you're reading this, you're forewarned to ask in advance. Beautiful afternoon view of the Elizabeth River, fairly quiet early Sunday afternoon, EXCELLENT service, great Orange Crush mixed drink, ice done exactly right for it, and the dessert was divine: a Limoncello mascarpone cream iced lemon cake with a little raspberry drizzle on the plate. Three of us split it for a nice light ending. Shrimps and grits flavored beautifully for my hubs (I just really prefer traditional grits to stone ground), really nice sauce with country ham, shrimp done nicely, and my son's chicken biscuit with gravy was so ginormous he took half home. Potatoes O'Brien are very tasty. Had a coupon from the Virginian-Pilot, so had a nice discount on a nice meal. A little hard to find since the entrance is a single door behind the wine bar. IF you're coming from Harbor Park, the Sheraton, or Town Point Park, you cannot miss the signage on the outside of the building. Nice patio, too. Loved the Halloween skeletons at the high top table welcoming us into the restaurant!
Fabulous ... food, service and views the Eliz. River ... coming back for a regular meal ...
It was the best choice in the marketplace but we were disappointed. I ordered my salmon well cooked and it was raw inside. And the salads were full of extra large lettuces. Instead of more but sized pieces.
The waitress took a while to come to our table but she was very nice when she got there. We had originally planned to eat outside but it was too hot. We moved inside but still had a nice view of the water. The seafood pasta was delicious, the appetizers were fantastic. Our waitress checked on us several times throughout the meal. It was a nice day and I'm sure the birthday boy enjoyed himself.
One of the worst experiences i have ever had at a restaurant. Service was absolutely horrid. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food. Only after we complained did someone react. Witnessed several tables get up and leave because they didnt get their food. After we finally got the food it was actually good. A manager did come by and apologize, but did not offer a discount or a complimentary dessert. Overall, very unattentive waitress and not a pleasant experience hearing everyone complain and walk out because if poor service.
Burning labor dollars! All these people at 415-430 standing around chatting with each other instead of attending to their customers. Once we got their attention , the server was authentic and genuine. Food quality was excellent, however menu limited.
Horrible experience with management. Beautiful scenery and atmosphere. The food was mediocre and staff desperately needs an overhall.
Food and service were great. We had seafood pasta, shared a salad and deserts of creme brulee which my niece stated was great and the special lemon-cello cake which was light and tasty.
We were very happy with the service, food , and over all experience.
Tasty seafood options with a wide variety of beer on tap. Good view of the Waterside marina, across to the Old Portsmouth waterfront. Easy access to/from the Elizabeth River Passenger Ferry.
We had a lovely dinner outside. The food was fabulous. Best fresh seafood in town. Apps and entrees were cooked perfectly and tasted great. The wait staff were very attentative and friendly. Recommend trying this gem out.
We had a very friendly waiter and we were greeted and seated immediately.
Great service, great food and great view!
To begin, there was a live band in the main open area at Waterside that was VERY LOUD. We had to ask to be seated way away from the front. We then sat and waited and waited and waited to get any sort of attention. We finally had to ask for a waiter. We had watched other people right near us get water then alcohol. They sat down after us! Then we witnessed the wait staff discussing our table and looking at each other as if they were lost.
Finally we got our drinks and then our food. The food was very good. My fish tacos were not hot.
We might return to try again for lunch. We will be sharing our experience with friends.
Hopefully the wait staff situation will improve
Waiter Niko was great. We had to wait a few minutes(more than usual) after being seated for a server, eventually asking for one. But once Niko was made aware we needed a server he was very apologetic for the wait and was very attentive from that point on. We also had a 7 month old baby with us and the entire staff was very accommodating. Would return and recommend!
