About Strano! Sicilian Kitchen & Bar
We wanted to create a neighborhood restaurant that reminds you of the 'old country': our menu is based on simple Sicilian recipes where the taste and quality stands for what we believe in. Chef Josh frequented the local bustling food market in Palermo then worked side by side with Chef Vincenzo to create the traditional Sicilian dishes. In Taormina, not far from Mt. Edna, Josh learned true Sicilian cooking from true Sicilians. Chef Josh became vehemently passionate about using natural ingredients to create delicious and delicate cuisine. With immaculate service, our wait staff and bartenders are sure to enhance your dining experience. Our classy innovative cocktail service featuring fresh ingredients and wide rage of house-made specially crafted infusions are sure to catch your eye. Espresso service and full menu available at the bar for your convenience as well. We are very passionate in our food and our service creating a place you long to come back to again and again.

Strano! Sicilian Kitchen & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Great Service ! Please be sure to ask for “Biscuit” as your server! Food is always amazing ! I have not had a dish that I did not think was impeccable in taste and presentation! Patrick the bartender is awesome- be sure to stop in and see him for Happy Hour! And to bring the dining experience altogether is Chef Josh! You can find him greeting guests in between creating delicious meals from the kitchen !
We were literally the only patrons in the restaurant but we had the worst table in the entire place. We were seated at an wobbly table by a curtain by the door that employees use to get food etc. I could see it if the place was packed but I am not kidding when I say we were the only two people in the place. Plenty of window seats with a view and I was so shocked that I did. It ask to move. Other than that the food was good.
Poor service, but it was the kitchens fault, not the server. 15 minutes after taking our order, they first mentioned that they had not made lasange that day. Then they broke the pizza coming out of the oven and had to make another. It took another 20 mins and then the pizza was undercooked. We asked to speak to the manager and they said there wasn't one there. Need a manger to avoid these things.
Made a reservation. Got there and waited for 5 minutes for the hostess to come to the hostess stand. Was told no reservations!! It was 6:10. Was told 30-45 min wait and that they were closing at 7. As we were trying to decide if we would stay she literally walked away. We went a couple of doors down. Ate and was done at 7:15. Walked by your restaurant and you were still open!! Staff was too busy taking selfies with each other while we were waiting at the hostess stand! Absolutely horrible!!!!
Being a lifelong midtowner, I really wanted to like it. But, Bolagnese lacked creaminess and flavor, fried olives seemed like something from Pete & Sams, and dessert was dense and almost stale - like it had been frozen. Too many good restaurants out there to go back.
Was in town visiting our daughter and chose this place to eat on a Saturday evening. We loved the authenticity of this place. The bread was good; the pomodoro pasta with chicken was delicious. Our service was good as was the menu selection. Overall, I'd recommend this place for a good Italian meal in a nice pleasant and cozy environment.
Strano is a nice, low key restaurant with very good Italian food. The pleasant design combined with generous distance between tables makes it perfect for conversation and relaxed dining. Service is good, food and wine selection varied. We've never had a bad experience here.
We had a good experience at Strano's this past Saturday night. We were with good friends and had a variety of taste experiences. The spinach pie was delicious as was the meatball appetizer! Salad crisp and cold; we all loved the blue cheese, etc on the chopped salad. Eggplant Parmesan tasty and hot; recommend. Pizza good and bad; 4 meat delicious! Smoked salmon pizza may be good to other people; not my taste at all. The spicy tomato; smoked salmon and cheese was an awkward salty combination.... couldn't eat but a few bites and had rest thrown away. Wine was reasonable and we liked the nice Italian selections. Bella was a good waitress; experienced and friendly.
As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Steven the bartender and made to feel at home. The meal was fantastic with great service and again felt at home. I had the homemade blue crab ravioli as an appetizer and it was great. Wait I forgot the bread - made fresh daily which I found out and it was fantastic. And my old fashioned to start out with was fantastic. I then had the pan grilled cod with a pico de gallo sauce which included hazelnuts - again fantastic. I then ordered the lemon cake with a great presentation and with great flavor. Loved it. This is a restaurant that is creative, a great value and is family friendly and they have a great staff and great menu. What a great find.
Just disappointing. The Bread was burnt, and when we asked for more to go with our meal. The server said at first that they were out of bread. Then came back and made the excuse that the bread they had was reserved for other reservations.
So I ate my bowl of pasta with no bread.
Ordered medium rare steak - it was cooked to barely rare. The chicken was so overcooked it was rubbery. This restaurant used to be one of our regular dining spots. No more. The last few visits have been very disappointing. Too bad. Great location and great room. They need a serious kitchen overhaul.
We had Easter Brunch with the in laws this Sunday at Strabo! We started with a basket of Zeppoles, which comes with both a strawberry and a chocolate dipping sauce. The zeppoles aren't particularly sweet, but pair well with the sauces. And a basket for the table of 4 was plenty. DH had the breakfast grilled cheese, the father in law had a breakfast bowl. The mother in law got the salmon and goat cheese pizza ( which is huge, and she took most of that home ). I had the avocado toast with a side of bacon. The bread for the toast was toasted perfectly, and topped with a fried egg, garnished with a green salad. The side of bacon was very generous. We all had a mimosa. Given all that, the price we paid compared to other brunches around town is a bargain. Brennan Villines was playing as well. An enjoyable brunch!
