We were greeted by Chef Josh himself as we entered the restaurant! The waiter , Taylor, was awesome. The food delicious and the portions were HUGE! What a value- We will be back. Thanks, Suzy and Tom Harvey
Celebrating MEMPHIS Flyer burger week! Food and service were amazing!!
Excellent food with attentive service. Our party of nine got our appetizers, entrees, drinks and desserts in a timely manner with water glasses always filled. A wonderful place for a Sunday family dinner. Can't say enough about how great the food tasted and there was something for everyone on the menu!
First visit to the restaurant. Will return. Great service and food.
Terrible. Waiter was not good, slow, inefficient. He may have been new, however. No confidence.
Food was terrible. All 3 of us had different meals and all 3 were awful. We tried Strano’s once before and had a similar bad experience but we wanted to give it another chance.
We wii not be back.
I had planned to have lunch at Strano. I forgot it was Father’s Day and they were serving brunch. I ordered lox and bagel, but they were out of lox. So I had the veggie omelet. The eggs were barely scrambled and it was ok. I’ve had better bagels, but this is not a bagel shop. My 2 guests enjoyed their food! I will go back, I do want to try the lunch menu! In all fairness I’m not a big fan of breakfast.
I know it was Father’s Day and I expected a crowd but apparently the Restaurant was not expecting to be busy. The bar service was very slow; and the food service even slower. When the food did arrive it was not very warm. I expected much more Strano. In the past I have had very pleasant experiences here. This most recent visit was not one of them.
Limited menu, small portion with no sides except a la carte. Our server was NOT attentive at all, we had to flag him down to get water refills, to get our ticket, etc. Very loud in the restaurant and overall disappointing.
Father’s Day was so special because of being in this restaurant; our waiter, Taylor, did an excellent job. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced; the atmosphere is wonderful.
Went for Father’s day Brunch. It was average. It was by no means unacceptable, I was just hoping for wow and it was good. We Had the avocado toast, fried chicken biscuit, and sausage bacon bowl. We started with the homemade donut holes. Again, I wouldn’t say not to go. We enjoyed ourselves.
Absolutely the worst food I have had in a year. How hard is Chicken Parmigiana? Tough , over cooked. Caesar salad had no dressing.
Wine list was awful too.
Indifferent inattentive service and the place was 75% empty on a Saturday night!
Go to any other restaurant in Memphis
Lamb gnocchi was great, very filling, great flavor; lobster tots are a treat; nice wine selection
Waiter was very good. Attentive but not too munch.
Great food, friendly staff and will go back soon to try other dishes!
It was easy to get a reservation and the ambiance was good. The food was good, not exceptional but not bad.
I would try again and get different options before making a final judgement.
We love this place. Its one of our favorites to go to for just about anything. Lunch, brunch and everything in between! And their bar menu is also fantastic! Great place for a celebration or a quiet meal.
We ordered the cheese plate which was wonderful. I ordered the salmon with spinach & pasta. The spinach had so much pepper on it I could not eat it. I have been to this restaurant several times & the first time I didn’t like all the food. I told the waiter about the spinach but was not offered any alternative choice.
Had the chef's benedict, and I was unfortunately underwhelmed. There just was not much seasoning used. The benedict had steak on it, and the steak did not even taste as though it had been salted when it was seared. This was my first time eating there, and I had high hopes. There was nothing bad on the table, there just sadly was nothing great. And in Memphis, that isn't enough to make me want to go back. I would not refuse to eat here though.
Delicious Mother’s Day brunch! Definitely will visit again!
Strano by Chef Josh was the perfect place for my family's Mothers Day brunch. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Thank you for the roses!
Had an ok experience. Service was a tad slow. Took a while before we were greeted and the food could use a bit more flavor. They were almost there, it just needed a bit more seasoning. I’d give it another chance and try again.
Service was great but the food had no flavor. Everything except for the calamari.
Very accommodating for the large party we had and the food was tasty, too!
Everything was wonderful! Best steak I've ever had and the lobster tots were amazing!
Excellent food, excellent service. Looking forward to returning soon.
I am never disappointed by Chef Josh. His ravioli special with the pesto was as beautiful as it was flavorful.
Food was all delicious but a couple of things (pancakes and sausage) were over cooked and almost nothing was very hot. Lukewarm at best. But it all tasted fine.
My wife and I had Easter reservations for 1:30pm. Upon our arrival, we were promptly greeted by the hostess who took note of our request when we made the reservations for either outside seating (weather permitting) or the bar area. It was a beautiful day, and she let us know they were setting our table up outside. A great start, and it only got better after that. We had some breakfast earlier in the day, so we opted to go with the sandwiches on the brunch menu. My wife chose the house burger, and I chose the chicken parmesan sandwich. My wife's burger was cooked exactly as she had requested, and she said it was wonderfully seasoned, moist, and tasty. My chicken parmesan sandwich was the most perfect I've ever had with two thin cutlets of breaded, tender chicken with a nice marinara. It was as though the chicken had been cooked with the marinara...not cooked and then slathered with it. The bun...more of a flat bread...was toasted perfectly without being dried out. Did I mention the fries that come with sandwiches? Absolutely outstanding...hand cut potatoes cooked perfectly and adorned with parmesan, garlic, and pepper. I don't want to omit the Strano team member who took care of us...Morgan was outstanding, kept our wine flowing and checking on us...all with a smile each visit. Strano is a jewel in East Memphis...you will not go wrong here. Absolutely tops!
I went there for brunch. It was fine, nothing more, nothing less. The food was good enough, but did not stand out. Our server was a bit unkempt in appearance and was standoffish, like it was a bit of an inconvenience to wait our table. The price was good, but I suppose you get what you pay for. We likely won't return, though I wouldn't necessarily discourage people from going.
Food and service were outstanding. The bar area is beautiful. Such a great place for dinner or just to have a cocktail. Will definitely return.
Overall excellent experience in all areas! We’ve already recommended it to friends and will definitely be going back!
I ordered the chicken parmigiana and both my husband and I thought it was wonderful. We really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the lasagna and he did not care for it. He said there was no meat in it. We also had the calamari and it was quite good.
All and all it was a pretty good meal! We would go back.😀
The food was very good and the service was fine. Definitely will be going back.
I came with about 12 other gals & we were celebrating Birthdays for GFs! AWESOME in EVERY WAY except some of the gals weren’t happy with the food. I’m wondering what kind of eggs are used for the Benedict’s~ duck eggs? All I know is they were good BUT tiny! I have been there for lunch & dinner BOTH fabulous! I’d recommend lunch & dinner before I would brunch.
I must say, I was a little nervous about the food because a couple of friends of mine had bad experiences there... I was in the restaurant business for YEARS & YEARS so I always let the manager know about well~ anything!
Overall great place & I will go back~ the VEGGIE Sandi’s AWESOME!
The service was excellent, we had Calamari and it was delicious. Caesar Salad was very good. The restaurant seemed to lack any atmosphere in the dining room but the bar area is terrific.
As good as it gets!
The menu covers a wide variety of food from eggplant parmigiana to chef’s specials. We stayed in the pasta menu and had an excellent dinner. You don’t have to break the bank to eat here, but the higher end of the menu is also good value as the entres come with sides and bread service. Yes, you want some of their bread, trust me on that.
The wine list has several classic reds for $34. We had the Cotes du Rhône which complimented the lightly sauced pasta and parmigiana. The rosemary in the meatballs was just enough to let you know it was there and the meatless lasagna’s touch of pesto hit just the right note as well.
If you like tiramisu inquire early as they sell out of their impossibly light yet rich (house made?) version. Have a grand marnier to compliment that.
Our waitress was there when we needed her but didn’t hover, which allowed us time to visit.
The room is very much as it was when Jim's Place East was there, thats a good thing, but it was more relaxed than I remember it.
Would I recommend it? Will I come again? Definitely yes to both questions.
Reservations on open table are easy to do and recommended. We were seated immediately. Dress code? Everything from prom night formal to shorts and nobody seemed to care.
Server was excellent and the food was great.
We have dined at Strano several times since they moved to their new location. We have always enjoyed the entire experience. Last night (April 3, 2019) was the exact opposite. We took out of town guests and we were totally embarrassed! They made Olive Garden look like a 5 star restaurant! Short Rib Ravioli pasta was inedible and returned. Came out cold and couldn't even chew the meat. Shrimp alfredo had literally 2 shrimp in the dish. Chicken parmesan was not good. How do you mess up chicken parmesan? The bread was burned on the bottom and it was so hard it was difficult to cut with a sharp knife. Service was below average and we were 1 of maybe 5 tables all night. Now I know why. We didn't even waste our time or money ordering dessert and after dinner drinks. Very disappointed.
