Chef Kelvin is amazing! He was so hospitable and came out to greet the customers and the food was just spectacular!
I had the signature dish the Crispy Arepas. They were excellent crispy withe just the right amount of short rib and avacado. The portion size was perfect. For a main i enjoyed the lobster flatbread. I was anticipating a sparce amount of lobster but was pleasently surprised with the amount of lobster and portion. The flatbread was crisp with the right amount of greens. All in all the meal was delicious and satisfying. The room is a bit drafty as you sit at the bar on a cold nigt maybe a lillle more than expected. One highlight was the service from Eva the bartender she was plesant, always smiling and made great recommendation on food and small talk.
My wife and I were in town for a show. We stayed at the Marriott Pulse and wanted a convenient place to dine before the show. We were both pleasantly surprised at the Strand Bistro. The service was excellent and, even though the bistro was off of the lobby, the quiet ambiance was exactly what we wanted. The goat cheese and arugula salad was perfect, and the pork tenderloin entree was also very good. Paired with an inexpensive bottle of wine, we were quite pleased. We will definitely dine there again when we stay at the Pulse.
I wasn't expecting much from a small bistro in a Marriott Vacation Club but was very pleasantly surprised. The food was almost a 5 - the chef's famous crispy arepos are amazing and my daughter loved her scallops & risotto. I had a filet that was the day's special, and it was just fine but not a 5. The decor is charming and comfortable with a central fireplace and bookshelves lining the walls. Live music was appreciated. And the prices were excellent!
My birthday was made special by Chef Kelvin who did a phenomenal job! Highly recommended.
Excellent service very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Servers were attentive and accommodating. The Wild Mushroom Fettucine was delicious
Menu was a little limited but food was excellent in every respect!
The restaurant was great, people were friendly and attentive. The food was AMAZING!!!! We started with these arepas that are to die for along with truffle Mac n Cheese. The best added touch was, the chef himself (Chef Kelvin) came out personally and presented the dish and added truffle shavings to the dish. For the entre, I had the seared scallops over pumpkin risotto. My friend had the salmon dish. Everything was perfect, to end the meal we had the coconut flan, “heavenly” was how my date described it. We will definitely return thank you!!!!
Enjoyed the entree and dessert selections. Crispy chicken dish was phenomenal.
Wonderful meal. Great food
When I arrived at Stand Mon night for dinner I had booked through Open Table (I had a printed confirmation) they had NO lnowledge of the booking. I basically had to follow the young woman chatting with customers at the bar (there was no one to greet clients) and tell her I was here for my dinner for two at 7:45. There was nothing on her computer screen, and she just ran off wothout letting me know what was going on. I had eaten here recently with a group of 6, and the food was fabulous. My companion Mon night was disgusted with the lack of service and arrention and insisted we leave.
Absolutely delicious food and good choices. Quiet hotel restaurant for breakfast and dinner....or drinks. The only downside is the food is so good, you will probably over eat......Comfortable seating with fireplace and upscale furnishings......
we were there for Thanksgiving and the food was amazing! Very pleased with the whole experience! Highly recommend.
This was one of the worst dining experiences that I have ever had. There were no lights in our area. We had to use our phones to see our menus. When we asked about the lighting they brought us more candles which didn’t help at all. We had to get up and get our own silverware and salt and pepper because it wasn’t on the table and our server disappeared constantly. Then they ran out of one of the entrees that was on the special menu. The food took forever to come out. We were at the restaurant a little over 3 hours. It was ridiculous. People that had arrived after us had their food and left before we even received our second course. When our main course came out it was dry and all crispy, like it had been sitting out under lights. I couldn’t even eat it but by this time we were just ready to leave. This was supposed to be our special thanksgiving dinner and it was one of the worst dining experiences ever.
Had a 4 course, pre-set meal and each dish had some of the best flavors I've ever had in a meal.
We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner made even more special by the great service we got from Danny. Roast Turkey, great bottle of St. Emilion and divine dessert all made for a fine holiday meal away from home. The setting was very cozy too - seemed like being at home.
A great find in the Marriott Pulse hotel in nyc. We were saying overnight in the city and it was freezing out so we decided to eat at the hotels restaurant. We were happy we did. The food was excellent. My pork tenderloin and my husbands steak were done perfectly and you must try the chefs special appetizer it was awesome.
Nice bar in the bistro and a lively rooftop bar. We will be anxious to come back.
Food was fantastic. My scallops were perfectly done and the risotto was delectable.
Service was attentive but not cloyingly so.
My only complaint was that we would occasionally get a blast of cold air when the front doors were used, so would recommend sitting in the back.
Food was spectacular! off the charts at this hidden gem.
Food was delicious !! Executive Chef Kelvin Fernandez's signature appetizer was outstanding !
The wait staff was friendly and attentive, will definitely be coming back
Our group of three have eaten here several times and enjoyed each experience!
Friendly staff and very good food. Nice for a restaurant located in a hotel.
Great food
Friendly yet professional service. Recommend my salmon entree
Went here with a group of girls to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent. Actually everything we ate was delicious! The waiter was very nice and the chef came out to our table twice to speak with us. Aside from his talent, he was very personable as well.
We had the famous short rib arepas, the burratta and wings for appetizers. All fantastic!
For meals we had skirt steak, chimicurri crusted filet mignon (special), their version of chicken cordon blue and fettuccine. Everyone loved their meals. If you're a foodie you will love it here! I Will be back!
For the most part excellent food. The Arepas appetizer are a must have as the chef Beat Bobby Flay with this recipe. My wife's Salmon was excellent. I had Lobster Mac n Cheese which had a bechamel sauce which was a little thin for my liking, but still very good. Coconut Flan for dessert was also excellent. Drinks are also very good.
Visited the Strand Bistro on 10/18.. First time---didn't know what to expect. BUT the service was exceptional--went out of their way to accommodate our every request. Our server was attentive and friendly. Our meal was exceptional..the food was fresh and creative. Everything we had was above average in taste and presentation. Especially liked the scallops with the pumpkin risotto and the mini burger sliders. Would go back and recommend to anyone.
We had the wild mushroom pasta - it was delicious! Great for breakfast too. Pretty place, friendly service. Recommend
The food and drinks were reasonably priced for NYC. We highly recommend the short ribs appetizer. I enjoyed the scallops and risotto even though it was a bit salty. We enjoyed the live music, and the views from the rooftop were fantastic.
Our food was very good. Service was lacking - most astonishingly when it came time to close our bill. Never have I had such a problem getting a restaurant to take my money. And when they finally did, the bill was incorrect - in my favor! I had to show them the error in order for them to correct it.
Love this place! We will return!
If you're looking for exceptional food, service, and value then this is the place to be. Chef Kelvin is a master and his award winning arepas are amazing. I'll have to return for the tomahawk steak
While staying at MCV, 4 of us dined here for convenience.
We'd return here even we weren't planning to staying at MCV.
We ordered the chef's speciality the Arepas...OMG!
Our entrees of the scallops, the salmon and the special of the day Filet mignon and all accompaniments were delicious.
The service was charming.
Don't miss this unpretentious gem.
Food was amazing,Chef Kelvin personally come out to deliver food and talk with us. For dessert we ordered the sampler and it was outstanding, capped off with a picture with the talented Chef himself!!
Always look forward to go back 😉
Simply loved the food! Chef Kevin outdid himself. I had the chimichuri Filet Mignon with garlic mash potatoes and veggies. Amazing is an understatement. The service was also good.
On Wednesday they have live music. Great place to have dinner.
Chef Kelvin Fernandez beat Bobby Flay, and his famous arepas are highlighted on the creative menu. We went for NYC restaurant week and loved every course. The velvet chilled corn soup was amazing, and the grilled peach salad was perfect for a warm summer evening. The citrus salmon and crispy stuffed chicken entrees with a myriad of colorful sides, were flavorful and perfectly cooked. We both finished with the caramel dolloped chocolate molten cake, creme anglaise and vanilla bean gelato. Even the coffee stood out as exceptional. The cordial wait staff performed admirably and we anxiously await our next visit.
Haven't been here since it's been redone. New chef and new menu and LOVED it. Started with arepas and they're as good as it's been said. Just not enough of them! Chicken wings were out of this world. My friends shared the branzino and pork tenderloin. Nothing left on either plate. Attentive service without being overbearing. We were there early and it was wonderfully quiet. Will definitely be back!!!!!
Restaurant was really modern and cozy. Waitress was very warm and friendly. Just disappointed when she informed us that there were no arepas (one of the main reasons for going). The food was outstanding, everything had flavor and was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the dessert sampler which was phenomenal.
Had the Chefs Tomahawk Steak Special. Davina was amazing. Drinks were great. And the Chef outdid himself. Very Personable, Charming and came out to make sure we were enjoying everything. The Arepas were the best thing I have tasted in my entire life! We will be back next week!
I had the absolute pleasure to dine here recently after opening just 2 weeks from a makeover. The restaurant is beautiful and very comfortable and inviting. Best part of my experience was executive chef Kelvin Fernandez and his amazing tomahawk special which is worth it and beyond. If you don't know him.... well he's a Food Network Champ -/ beaten Bobby Flay. Service was impeccable, Ana was the waitress and Kelvin came out to serve and meet the table. For $150 we received a 42oz tomahawk steak, truffle Mac & Cheese where he actually shaved fresh black truffle onto the dish and veggies. We also ordered a salad which wasn't needed. Of course there was leftovers to take home. I love it here and can't wait to go back and try other items from the menu. I can't say enough about this place. Topped it off with drinks on the rooftop.
