Strand Bistro at Marriott Vacation Club Pulse Ratings and Reviews
A great find in the Marriott Pulse hotel in nyc. We were saying overnight in the city and it was freezing out so we decided to eat at the hotels restaurant. We were happy we did. The food was excellent. My pork tenderloin and my husbands steak were done perfectly and you must try the chefs special appetizer it was awesome.
Nice bar in the bistro and a lively rooftop bar. We will be anxious to come back.
Food was fantastic. My scallops were perfectly done and the risotto was delectable.
Service was attentive but not cloyingly so.
My only complaint was that we would occasionally get a blast of cold air when the front doors were used, so would recommend sitting in the back.
Went here with a group of girls to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent. Actually everything we ate was delicious! The waiter was very nice and the chef came out to our table twice to speak with us. Aside from his talent, he was very personable as well.
We had the famous short rib arepas, the burratta and wings for appetizers. All fantastic!
For meals we had skirt steak, chimicurri crusted filet mignon (special), their version of chicken cordon blue and fettuccine. Everyone loved their meals. If you're a foodie you will love it here! I Will be back!
For the most part excellent food. The Arepas appetizer are a must have as the chef Beat Bobby Flay with this recipe. My wife's Salmon was excellent. I had Lobster Mac n Cheese which had a bechamel sauce which was a little thin for my liking, but still very good. Coconut Flan for dessert was also excellent. Drinks are also very good.
Visited the Strand Bistro on 10/18.. First time---didn't know what to expect. BUT the service was exceptional--went out of their way to accommodate our every request. Our server was attentive and friendly. Our meal was exceptional..the food was fresh and creative. Everything we had was above average in taste and presentation. Especially liked the scallops with the pumpkin risotto and the mini burger sliders. Would go back and recommend to anyone.
Our food was very good. Service was lacking - most astonishingly when it came time to close our bill. Never have I had such a problem getting a restaurant to take my money. And when they finally did, the bill was incorrect - in my favor! I had to show them the error in order for them to correct it.
While staying at MCV, 4 of us dined here for convenience.
We'd return here even we weren't planning to staying at MCV.
We ordered the chef's speciality the Arepas...OMG!
Our entrees of the scallops, the salmon and the special of the day Filet mignon and all accompaniments were delicious.
The service was charming.
Don't miss this unpretentious gem.
Simply loved the food! Chef Kevin outdid himself. I had the chimichuri Filet Mignon with garlic mash potatoes and veggies. Amazing is an understatement. The service was also good.
On Wednesday they have live music. Great place to have dinner.
Chef Kelvin Fernandez beat Bobby Flay, and his famous arepas are highlighted on the creative menu. We went for NYC restaurant week and loved every course. The velvet chilled corn soup was amazing, and the grilled peach salad was perfect for a warm summer evening. The citrus salmon and crispy stuffed chicken entrees with a myriad of colorful sides, were flavorful and perfectly cooked. We both finished with the caramel dolloped chocolate molten cake, creme anglaise and vanilla bean gelato. Even the coffee stood out as exceptional. The cordial wait staff performed admirably and we anxiously await our next visit.
Haven't been here since it's been redone. New chef and new menu and LOVED it. Started with arepas and they're as good as it's been said. Just not enough of them! Chicken wings were out of this world. My friends shared the branzino and pork tenderloin. Nothing left on either plate. Attentive service without being overbearing. We were there early and it was wonderfully quiet. Will definitely be back!!!!!
Restaurant was really modern and cozy. Waitress was very warm and friendly. Just disappointed when she informed us that there were no arepas (one of the main reasons for going). The food was outstanding, everything had flavor and was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the dessert sampler which was phenomenal.
Had the Chefs Tomahawk Steak Special. Davina was amazing. Drinks were great. And the Chef outdid himself. Very Personable, Charming and came out to make sure we were enjoying everything. The Arepas were the best thing I have tasted in my entire life! We will be back next week!
I had the absolute pleasure to dine here recently after opening just 2 weeks from a makeover. The restaurant is beautiful and very comfortable and inviting. Best part of my experience was executive chef Kelvin Fernandez and his amazing tomahawk special which is worth it and beyond. If you don't know him.... well he's a Food Network Champ -/ beaten Bobby Flay. Service was impeccable, Ana was the waitress and Kelvin came out to serve and meet the table. For $150 we received a 42oz tomahawk steak, truffle Mac & Cheese where he actually shaved fresh black truffle onto the dish and veggies. We also ordered a salad which wasn't needed. Of course there was leftovers to take home. I love it here and can't wait to go back and try other items from the menu. I can't say enough about this place. Topped it off with drinks on the rooftop.
Always a treat to enjoy Chef Kelvin and his amazing menu! He made sure we were perfectly accommodated considering it was a holiday with his delicious signature arepas and perfectly cooked salmon, which were just some of the highlights. Also, a new Happy Hour menu which is too good to pass on is now available. The growth of the chef and the restaurant are becoming clearer as each day passes and I look forward to dining here again.
The restaurant was very nice overall and our meal was great. However, for the first half of the meal, the room behind us was extremely loud with screaming people and music making it near impossible for us to hear each other. They eventually quieted down and left, but until then it was rather annoying.
We had the arrapas appetizer - it was wonderful - there were 3 of us and the appetizer had 3 pieces - it was perfect. One diner had the burger, one the crispy chicken and the other the salmon/arugala salad. We all very much enjoyed our meals. The cabernet was good; however, the $21 price tag was a little bit of a shock for one glass. The service was extraordinary! Would definitely eat there again.
Meh...I have no complaints, but with all of the choices available in NYC, the bar should be set a little higher. If I were a guest at the hotel, and didn't want to venture outside, The Strand would be an acceptable option. But for native NYers like me (or for guests willing to walk a few blocks), there are more exciting options.
Chef Kelvin's Arrepas arrepas and more arrepas is all I have to say. They are to die for. For people who haven't tried it, they are missing out. Tuna tartare was delicious. But the truffle mac and cheese was out of this world!! I'm not talking about truffle oil, it came with white truffle shavings. Like omg!! My parents ordered the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection. My brother had the stuffed chicken and wow it was full of flavor. I had the skirt steak and It also was cooked to perfection. Now to the dessert, the coconut flan and the chocolate cake was devoured. William our server made our experience enjoyable and was very attentive. And of course having chef kelvin come over to the table was the cherry on top.
We were staying at the Pulse for our first time and needed to have an early dinner before a show. Wow is all I can say. We were very pleased with the whole dinner. Awesome Short Rib appetizer, great salad, wonderfully prepared Bronzino. Yes, great desert as well. If you are staying at the Pulse - don't think twice. The Chef is excellent!
The food is fantastic! The ambiance is beautiful. Chef Kelvin's Arepas are exquisite and probably the best arepas I've ever had. You must save room for dessert because the coconut flan is to DIE FOR!! I truly had an amazing experience from start to finish. The service was absolutely superb. Chef Kelvin you are brilliant!!
Went with a party of 4, all had different dishes. Waitress very good at making recommendations and providing a history of the new chef. Chef has a signature appetizer which was excellent. I had hamburger, described as excellent by staff, but I would not go that far. Friend had chicken which was reported as excellent. Based on inability to provide a great hamburger, I didn't rate this very well. Would not go out of my way to go there again.
