Straits Restaurant - Santana Row

It’s good for ambience of people watching. We ordered for dishes off the menu and everything had the same underlying note, sweet!
$15 cocktails in 1/2 full cocktail glasses. Poorly trained bartenders . Could make a few of standard fair cocktails. Mixes were not up to the standard one would expect . Food was ok. Tasty and quick but was not as memorable as a prior visit. Waitress was nice but definitely not trained as one would expect at such a pricey establishment. I be a while before I go back. Oh. And the loud boom boom boom bass drove me nuts.
I ordered Pad Thai and it was really good. We had lunch at the terrace and service was a bit lacking, but overall we had a very nice lunch and the portion of the meal was very generous. However, I'm a bit upset about the extra service tax that they are charging in Santana Row.
Nice lounge ambience (Mainly Black decore). The place is suitable for Friday / Saturday late dinner. Cockatils have original twists and are great, The food is "good" (not spectacular); although, there are some fusion plates that worth to try (i.e. Pork belly).
Food and ambiance was good, but service was just OK and prices are quite high.
Had a lovely meal. The Fuji Apple prawn salad was amazing. Great dressing. The wok fired mussels were beyond!! Wanted to drink the juice. Had some chicken rice for a side. Delicious flavor and texture.
We’ve been here many times. The appetizers like lollipops satay cauliflower and calamari were all excellent. The lobster main course was very good. However the spicy street noodles and the lemon grass beef were bad. Very disappointing.
We went to brunch here for my boyfriend’s birthday. The music was unbelievably loud even though it was only 2 pm. We could barely hear each other talking. The service was pretty good although I don’t like it when wait staff is hovering near your table to snatch a plate away as soon as you’ve taken the last bite. My BF did not like his origami fish fish, but he would not let me send it back for him. The fish had a very strong odor and did not smell good. In General it took a long time for our food to come out, and it was not coordinated so that our meals came out at the same time. I’d probably not go here again.
I always love dining here for the quality of the food experience is top notch. I try not to dine on a Fri. or Sat night because the noise level and level of service and experience overall is always diminished. Otherwise, I love this restaurant for what it does best: great food! Thank you for never disappointing in this regard!!
We had reservations for outside seating which we got with no issue. Then we waited for 15 minutes to order a drink. When the drinks finally came we were able to order food. Food came out sporadically. The appetizers came with my husbands main course. My food came about another 25 minutes. All in all it wasn’t worth the wait or the food. Very disappointed
The food is delicious, and the serving sizes are great to share. You absolutely have to start with the Roti Prata.
We held a mini reunion of high school friends and a birthday celebration. Carlos, our server, was quite helpful and took care of everything: wine corkage, cake cutting, and recommendations for the family style foods. We stayed as long as we wanted. Great weather too, though we stayed inside by the big window.
We had lunch on a busy Sunday. Sitting outside was pleasant and not very noisy. We had chicken satay, roti, and kale salad. All of the dishes were very good: succulent chicken with a peanut dip, the famous roti with curry dip, and a tower of luscious kale. It would have been even better if all of the dishes had arrived at the same time, but after the salad, nothing came out for a long time, then the roti, and then again, after a wait, the chicken. Other than that, the service was good; we appreciated the fact that we were not hurried, as this was a business and social meeting, and we had a lot of ground to cover, so we lingered, but did not feel the server was trying to encourage us to leave.
Nice trendy setting . Good food and drinks . Service was slow . Had to flag down the server to order and also for water refills and the check .
We have been to the restaurant several times, and found the service lacking - but the convenience and food prompted us to come back again .... This time around the service was so terrible that our party of 5 had to walk out after 30 minutes and go to another restaurant nearby. Don’t think ghat we are coming back here anytime soon.
Had a great happy hour with my sis
There was a lot of spicy items on the menu that was not noted as spicy. Might think of highlighting these somehow on the menu.
Service is great, really outstanding.
Excellent! great service and food, always return..
Excellent service and good food as well. Went there with kids for family reunion and had a blast.
The food was delicious and the server was very polite and upbeat. We very much enjoyed the experience!
Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The food was all delicious and flavorful.

Level of service is amazing as always. Staff is knowledgeable about food allergies and will accommodate and double triple check. My family and I can always enjoy our food here without the worry of cross contamination. Many gluten free options!!
Straits is one of my favorite spots. You can always count on delicious meals and great drinks. The staff is always friendly and courteous.
I go there all the time with friends, business and family. Busy and noisy in the evenings. Much quieter at lunch. Always good.
The service was really slow and inaccurate. The waiter disappeared for a long time and only showed up to drop off the bill. We were going to order some desert, but he had already closed us out without asking and we didn't want to take a chance that ti would take another 30 minutes for the desert to show up.
It is Always Amazing here!!! Monique was Awesome! She had GREAT suggestions. We let her guide our choices. We had 3 different cocktails and 4 small shares. The ambiance and neighborhood energy is Great for Friday evening dining! There is even a DJ!
We sat on the patio in the front which was crowded with all the pedestrians. Awesome service!
Not the same as it used to be . Loud booming noise made it difficult to have a conversation. Cocktail drinks are now $14 which is excessive for what you get. Wait service was very good but food quality/quantity is just OK especially for the prices. Ordered the roti prata, samosas, and pork buns for appetizers and sea bass and buttered chicken for entries. Sauces were tasty but chicken was not moist.
The service and food was great. What I did like was the fact the a Hostess outfit was inappropriate for work. She had on a romper which it was obvious she was not comfortable in as she continued to pull and touch her bottom area. That was not sanitary and very inappropriate. She should have been sent home to change her clothes. It was rather disappointing and unsanitary.
The food seems to have gone downhill over the years. The stir fried noodles and curry were overly salty. Portions are small.
We sat down after we had an open table reservation. We were greeted by our server 20 min later and provided water another 20 minutes later.
All the plates and napkins were dirty and had to be sent back and the drinks were ok.
20 minutes later we left.
Music was way too loud. I had a headache by the time our entrees came out. Food good, especially dessert.
Been to Straits before. However, lately, their food quality has gone up several notches. Appetizers are great. Corn Fritters, Roti Prata, Basil Chicken are excellent. Street Noodles were awesome.
Great food, service and ambience . We had a great time 👍
The food was anywhere from good to excellent. Service was very attentive. Prices were little high for the portions but nothing extreme. I would go back again.
Great place for a work dinner and near shops and bars/restaurants. Love that the food is a mix of Asian fusion with Thai, Indian and other Asian influences.
