   Going through a transition of new ownership and management but standards still high as they always have been. Looking forward to seeing the outcome of the changes being planned.

   Although friendly the service was untrained, insecure and didn’t act as expected in this class of restaurant. The food was partly good but some things not understandable, like three small raw veggies with wilted leaves in a pot of crumbly weird tasting humus for amuse bouche. Starter filled courgette came raw tiny cheese filling, tasteless, poor dressing. Mushrooms for main we’re delicious but portion small, like for a starter. Poor choice of wine, we should have brought our own, like the neighbour table did. Chairs wobbly, carpet full of stains. All together, the place doesn’t live up to its potential.

   We had a delicious meal with fantastic service. We felt, however, that the place has become a little shabby since our last visit. The table in the bar area was sticky and dirty, my wine glass at the table was covered in finger prints and the cutlery was not clean. We were surprised by this.

   No Sunday menu despite advertised online. Really loud table took away from atmosphere. Service not as good as similar standard restaurants- overpriced for the experience

   A lovely intimate restaurant. The food was very well presented and delicious. The service was great. Highly recommended for a place to take someone with a little bit of wow factor.

   A lovely evening at Stovells - we were looked after superbly by Richard and his team, and the food was superb.

    I've been a massive fan of Stovell's for years and this was the first time I've been back however for a couple of years. We were massively disappointed in our visit and can only assume there is a different chef and different owners. The care, attentiveness, food quality, and preparation quality used to be excellent. However, not this time. The produce used, from the bread on the table to the quality of meat, was incredibly poor - chewy lamb and steak; browning beef carpaccio; stale, store-bought bread. Service was "endearing" from a young, untrained staff - seemed like little management, and certainly not attentive. No follow-up if we were enjoying our meal etc. Cocktails at the beginning were obviously not made by someone who knows how to make cocktails. Such a shame that we have lost a great out-of-town restaurant.
