Stout's Trattoria at Grape Creek
We are able to accommodate groups up to 12 guests, and we take reservations all through the week except Saturdays 11am-5:30pm. Please note Grape Creek's property rules on Saturdays. https://grapecreek.com/saturdays-at-the-vineyard
This was our first visit to Stout's even though we don't live too far from Fredericksburg. The winery is really beautiful, the location great. We didn't do a tasting but enjoyed a meal in the trattoria. It's a lovely place with great views over the vineyards. When it's not 96 degrees outside, sitting in the patio would be fabulous! The not-as-good as expected part was the service. Our wait person was nice enough but disengaged along with a sense of not really wanting to be there. We did manage to make her smile, but for a higher end place, one expects top service. There is also a separate wine advisor who visits the table and takes drink orders. It's a nice way to have someone fully educated on the beverage menu, but it also requires two separate people and two separate transactions. Only other minor complaint was that the avocado toast with eggs was served a room temp. Meh. Flavors were great, but I do prefer my egg on the warm side. The shrimp and grits were incredible, and my husband's panini was great...along with the homemade chips. Both the regular menu and brunch menu read very enticingly. The prices are high end, but now that F'brg is on the map big-time, that's expected. Overall, this is a great place and I'd go back probably for a meal, but definitely to sip some wine on the patio!
Always a special time
It seemed like the Mediterranean salad was smaller than normal and the dressing wasn't quite up to par this time.
The service was also a bit slow at first but then got better.
Always an amazing experience here....
The food and wine were great. I had the steak and it was very tender. My husband had the lasagna and said it was great. The blueberry creme brûlée and coffee was a wonderful finish. It was a little noisy when we first got there as a large group was dining, but they were finishing up and leaving. We had a 7 PM reservation which is probably the best time for a quieter dinner.
My wife and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary at Stouts. This was our first time there. The wine waitress was great!! She allowed my wife to sample different kinds of wines and was very attentive. The food waitress was barely around to check on us. Even when we were finished with our food, it took the staff quite a while to remove the plates. Also, there was not much of a dessert selection. The atmosphere however was breathtaking!! We felt as it were were in Napa Valley or in Europe somewhere.
The location is beautiful and the food was amazing! Would definitely return!
Wonderful experience, as usual. Yummy food, amazing views and great service! Especially from our wine steward, she was fantastic.
We love going to Grape Creek and Stout’s. Best Turkey club sandwich ever!!
Would have head more photos but the food was so good we ate it before we thought about it 😁
It was a little loud and very sunny even with the shades down when we first arrived. We were greeted by the waitress promptly who told us a wine steward would be by for our wine orders. One never came. We finally had to flag our waitress and ask when the steward would be by. He was great once he came, just odd to have to wait that long for wine when dining at a winery. The food was good the wine was great, just needed a little better service to make it all perfect.
Always very good and Ivan takes great care of us.
Very happy with the staff, they were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! The food was awesome, we had the Calamari as an appetizer, then the Filet as the main...cooked to perfection with ample sides. Would definitely recommend and return.
Restaurant can get quite noisy when full. Avocado toast is excellent. Pizzas are good. Filet was overcooked. Had a 2008 Cab/Syrah--excellent...
this is not the first time to eat at Trattoria but it was the first to eat dinner there and it was great as always.
Ivan is the BEST!
It was bear closing time and our waitress let us know by her attitude that we were overstepping her normal hours of work.
Not nice at all!
Everything was great!! Beautiful restaurant with great food and service!!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary (29 yrs). The food and wine were excellent. We can't wait to bring our adult kids back in 2 weeks.
Someone in the back is way too heavy with the salt. This place has a lot of potential but it’s not there yet.
Overall the food was great but I was very disappointed in our wine steward. I asked her about the membership and she said she would bring me an application with more information and never did. I even mentioned it to my waitress but nothing. It felt like our wine steward wasn't really interested in assisting us not sure why since it was my very first time there and I was very excited about the whole experience. I did ultimately receive a membership application from my tour guide afterward but it would have been nice to enjoy the 15% discount for my meal for being a member. The environment was quite nice and very beautiful.
The deviled eggs were great. The fried chicken Benedict was over fried. I could not tell if it was as simply overcooked or precooked and reheated for the day. I mean it was very dark brown and too crunchy. Should have been a light crispy, flakey crust. But all of them around us came out that way.
A bit pricey, but overall good experience!
Although we are wine club members, this was our first time to dine at Stout's and it was wonderful! We could only do lunch this trip, but we plan to get back soon to dine at dinner! We ordered the wine country pizza and red wine. The pizza was outstanding and has become our new favorite pizza in Texas! Service and ambiance was great! We plan to go again and have shared our experience with friends.

Lovely atmosphere, excellent food , and good service.
The restaurant is based in the Grape Creek winery and in addition to the beautiful views of the hill country and vineyards, the delicious food along with extensive brunch menu is worth a visit. You will not be disappointed if you visit. Not interested in a sit down meal, no problem, they offer a cheese board with large crackers that has a wonderful presentation but is delicious as well.
We live in fbg and frequent Stouts on an almost weekly basis. We brought our out of town guests to try it for the first time. The food, combined with the beautiful views, made for a perfect visit. They expressed how it was their “favorite restaurant in fbg!”
Facility is BEAUTIFUL! The restroom could have used a little TLC. Gate representative was friendly. A little more direction given in regards to dinner only reservations would be nice VIA website or upon reservation. We arrived at 5:19 to be told we were early and they may not let us in unless we were club members and could take advantage of other options. Which is understandable I wouldn't expect to be seated but maybe instead say "We aren't seating 5:30 reservations at the moment but we would love for you to walk around our garden area/vineyard and enjoy our property until that time." It was a big turn off and made us feel as if we didn't belong because we weren't "club members" which was another thing that kept being implied during our ENTIRE visit. Waiters where very friendly and helpful (again we were questioned if we were club members). Wine waiter very sweet kids (aging are we club members). We ordered the filet mignon and all though the vegetables where full of taste the filet was pretty tasteless for the price. We traveled from the DFW so becoming a club member just wouldn't make since. Overall we would return but it would be nice if a few small changes were implemented.
Stout's serves very good food for the price and the view of Grape Creeks vineyards is outstandind.
Love the pizza
Rick is wonderful! He makes the experience that much more enjoyable!
Since you are not members, everything you ordered which you have to pay more and the food and they aren’t that great. Foods are too expensive, especially pizza which was soggy.
Excellent food, excellent service. Reservation ready an on time no wait involved upon arrival
The most fabulous Stout's pizza served along the best wine (we like the Bellisimo) Texas wine! It was 4th of July weekend so understandably a busy time....but we saw 5 different waiters/waitresses/wine stewards.....a bit confusing and they were equally confused on who we belonged to.....so drink refills were definitely delayed which is not their usual. We always go back!
Fun Birthday wine tasting and food.
Food was good but our waitress was missing in action for a little bit.
Lovely location, decent menu but overpriced. Style over substance. Most half decent US restaurants serve the same food at the same quality for close to half the price and more generous portions
It’s a beautiful location, exquisite atmosphere, delicious food and just a nice place! Our family really enjoyed it!
