This chef continues to impress. The beef shortribs and the pork tenderloin and the accompanying sides were delicious. Could not have been more well prepared.
Service was adequate though maybe not as attentive as we would have liked ( perhaps due to restaurant week rush). Wine pricing is a bit high, at $15glass , but the selection was good. Even with two of our four guests opting for the restaurant week selections, the bill with tip still topped $300. Not cheap, but the meals were outstanding. Remains one of our favorite places.
We have eaten at Story before. This time we were here for restaurant week. The food was delicious, but I was surprised there were only two choices. Most of the restaurant week menu's have three options. I enjoyed my meal. The entree was delicious and so was the desert. I think the wine list is a little too pricey!
After hearing good reviews we were excited to try it during restaurant week. We ordered the restaurant week special but was very disappointed. All our main course was a little too salty. The dessert was dry. The only thing that was decent was the soup even though it wasn’t that warm.
The worse part was our whole dinner took a little over 2 hours. After each course we waited about 20-30 minutes for the next course to be served. I know they were busy but I assume they expected this since it was restaurant week. And we only ordered the restaurant week special which I assume was prepared ahead of time.
Food was good except for the desert. The graham cake was very very dry and for something that was supposed to like s’mores there was very little chocolate and marshmallows. Will not be rushing back.
Great fun! Small space, we were at a high top and a group of 8 people were waiting for their table about 2 feet away from our table. So, kind of loud and hard to hear each other. Food and service was fabulous as always! Fun!
it was ok -- restaurant lacked character -- they were trying too hard to make it something it was not.
The food at Story was absolutely excellent; however, the taste did not make up for the pretentiously small portions and high price. My fiance had a wonderful swordfish with meager 'sides' for $38, but had to go home and eat more after dinner. Expect to eat a little bit of great food for a lot of money.
Great food and service! Had the Sunday night special which was a terrific deal also. My 12 year old son really enjoyed the experience as well.
We celebrated New Years Eve with friends at Story. The special menu and wine pairings were superb. This has become a tradition for us and we are so fortunate to have this wonderful restaurant in our neighborhood. It is one of KC’s top spots!
Went with 4 couples for New Years Eve dinner. Prix Fixe menu was a fabulous 6 course affaire served impeccably by outstanding waitstaff! Everyone was amazed by the intricacies of each dish in the way that each ingredient was detectable in each bite.
Could not have expected such a delightful experience in a restaurant located in a strip mall!
Chef Thorne-Thompson and his wife Susan have knocked it over the fence, making our “Story” have a happy ending with happy beginning of a New Year.
