Amazing dinner and wait staff.
Food was good. Short ribs were very good, as was the halibut. The service was slow, at best, and it seemed as if we were an inconvenience to our server.
We will not be rushing to return.

We have been to Story many times and have never been disappointed. In fact, we have always left very happy. Ask Travis for his wine selections and Jeremy is an awesome server.
Lamb loin was tough and hard to chew. Flavor was good tho

Our food was excellent as was the service. The problem was that is extremely hot in the restaurant and that really hindered the experience.
My chicken was a little tough. It as suprrising as the food has always been great. My wife's chicken was fine. The service was fine although he could have checked a little more than he did. It is a value for the money.

I rarely eat steak. This was delicious with the addition of pistachios. The squash noodles and fingerlings were very good too. The green salad was perfect. The only mild complaint is that the hibiscus sorbet, which I've eaten before, was a little icy- probably in the freezer a bit too long.

We had the halibut and it was fabulous, portion was reasonable and paired well the rest of the meal. It was served hot and well plated, plate did lack color, which was a put off, however once you tasted the crispy halibut, you forgot about everything but the next bite. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We enjoyed the visit with friends, and a great meal, evenings just don’t get much better then that.
I really enjoyed the tacos. We've had them most years. The usually reliable green salad had something hot in it that made me cough. Maybe it was just large bits of black pepper. I loved the hyacinth sorbet! Daniel was a little forgetful about a few requests, but otherwise a very nice meal.
This was my first time to dine at Story and I was very pleased. The meal was excellent and the pomegranate spritzer was delicious as well. I will bring friends with me next time.
We always have a great meal, excellent drinks and amazing service at Story! Every time we visit, the whole experience is spot on. We've been eating here for special 'friends night out' for several years and it is always a good experience!
Perfect... Halibut was outstanding!
A favorite restaurant in this area. We were able to sit outside in the lovely patio. The food got rave reviews from each of us. Especially good, the sauce served alongside the steak. The plates invite an appetite just by the presentation alone. Then each bite fulfills the promise. Staff always well informed and cordial. We will return many more times.
Went on Mother's Day. The restaurant was about 1/2 full, but it took us nearly 2 hours for dinner. Very very slow. Courses were not staged at all. Would not recommend.

Always a favorite. Story is a BEST of Kansas City! Make sure to try the Soft Shell Crabs when in season.
Another great meal at Story! Carl does the best soft-shelled crab we've had (including NY City & Washington DC). Our server was also superb, including excellent recommendations on wine.

My wife and I go to Story regularly. I hesitated writing a review because I wanted to keep the restaurant selfishly secret . But Greatness should be shared! Food is absolutely top notch! Beginning with the Parmesan chef’s treat to the best sweetbreads ! Everything is good at Story! I wish the chef would do seasonal cooking classes. If only.... He is of Michelin quality! Highly recommended!
We dine here at least once/month. We both particularly like the Caesar salad, and I really like the Paloma cocktail.
We dined in Story last weekend, they're welcoming and the ambiance was very modern and place was pretty quiet. They got good wine collection but they're on the expensive end compared to their food and also got some good cocktails to sip. We ordered Duck empanadas, Bisque and Risotto as appetizers, and they're are good except the rice in Risotto is little undercooked but tastes great. My wife wanted Halibut but it seems like their favorite dish and they're out of Halibuts for that evening, but Sword fish is great and their Chicken breast is the juiciest one I ever got anywhere else and Veal tenderloin is good too. I ordered Rib eye with medium rare, it's really good with good balance of spice and taste but instead of pink I got little red at the center(I'm not a steak expert here) and we ended our meal with lemon pudding cake and maple panna cotta both of them are good. I'd highly recommend this to anybody who wants to taste some good food. The only thing that they can do better is, nobody asked us how's everything tasting, it's okay if they're confident on their food but I still feel they should ask about it.
This was my second time at Story and the food was just as good as the first time. The Tasting option was great to get an assortment of food. Our waiter was super friendly and our drinks were always filled. He also was great at telling us the drink options and his recommendations. Will definitely come back.
We went for our anniversary dinner. Hemingway cocktail was fabulous. Pear salad and risotto were terrific. My husband got the short ribs with gnocchi which was wonderful. Dessert was chocolate torte - beautiful.
Food is always perfectly prepared, wines pair nicely. My only knock is where we sat was a bit dark. I'm older and like to have decent light but that doesn't take away from the experience. Service always is attentive and good. A bit more expensive but then you get what you pay for and this place is worth every dime.
