Storm Rhum Bar and Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The food was good. I had the beet salad and pork belly small plates. Enjoyed both. Other friends also enjoyed their meals. However, our server was miserable and made us feel like we were bothering her. That was enough to not outweigh the good food and pick another place next time I'm in Asheville.
Love Storm Rhum. I had the Petit Filet with fingerling potatoes and mushrooms. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. My two friends ordered the hamburger and both loved it. One ordered medium well and one ordered medium rare. Both were cooked to order. We also had the pimento cheese appetizer and the warm brownie with strawberry ice cream. Yummy all around. Service was attentive and very personable. If you have t been there you need to put it on your list
First time visiting Storm Rhum Bar and we were not disappointed. We arrived on time and were sat immediately. Our waitress attended to us quickly and took our drink order promptly. The cocktails were tasty, although my Mai Tai was a bit on the tart side and seemed unbalanced. We started with the boiled peanuts. Being new to the South we found them to be quite tasty, although a bit on the mushy side. We all had steak - my son has dietary issues, as does my wife, so they had several "special" requests for the steak. I ordered mine as is. The steaks were delivered with varying degrees of correctness, from missing sides, to incorrect cooking temperature. Our waitress performed admirably and made up for the kitchen's shortcomings/confusion, but it definitely showed a lack of attention. Desserts were solid, as was the wine list. I did think the prices of the wines were a tad expensive, but I am comparing the prices to Boston-area retail, so it is not based on local-area pricing. Given that the name of the restaurant includes Rhum Bar, the list of Rum available is quite extensive. As a digestif, I tried an aged Barbados and it was terrific. Overall, we had a great time and any issues we experienced with the kitchen's lack of attention were quickly and courteously remedied by our waitress. If we are in Asheville again, we will be sure to stop by!
We sat on the patio in folding chairs. The drinks were weak and moderately overpriced. The waitress said that my veal porterhouse was never served about medium rare and that's how I ordered it. When it came, there was no pink and the waitress was surprised when I complained. She did take it back to the kitchen to have it remade after I asked that she do so. My wife's medium ribeye was also a little over charred but the center was a good medium. The sides were fantastic. There were no accommodations made on our check for the returned meal.
Love Burger Night! The food, service and ambience is very good and I appreciate the friendly servers and customers. My only complaint is that the tables are too high for a short or average person to sit comfortably on the banquette seating along the wall. Makes me feel like a little kid at the grown ups table!
We had a great time here with a group of 8. The rum cocktails were delicious, especially the Guava Firestorm. We shared the bacon boiled peanuts, chicken liver pate, and Brussels sprouts. Even the people who never had pate and thought they would not like it, loved it, which says a lot. The proteins on the entrees were cooked perfectly ranging from duck breast, venison, and filet. This restaurant has a great atmosphere and bar area and I would recommend it for date nights and groups looking for a vibrant and moderately noisy scene.
We had not been here in a while - went before a show at the Orange Peel and so glad we did :)
Got the beer salad, trigger fish, rib eye & the panda cotta for desert - all were great & so were the drinks!
I recommend it for sure & we are locals so we will be back sooner rather than later :)
The Storm Rhum never fails to meet all of our expectations for fine food, fun and excellent service. It has a wonderful ambiance but the low lighting does make it hard to read the small font on the menus. None the less, with a pair of readers or the assistance of the servers, the restaurant is above average. The Farmers Chicken breast, greens and potato was an excellent choice, followed by the brownie and ice cream. Even though there was a sold out concert across the street, parking was available and in close proximity. We'll definitely continue to make this restaurant one of our stops when we're in Asheville again!
This was our second visit to Storm and, again, the food was fabulous. Don't know how they made my husband's New York strip so thick and tender. My goat-cheese gnocchi? YUM! Only problem, the chair in the bar area's seat was so far back and flimsy I nearly fell out of it. Easy fix. Next time, we'll stipulate the dining room.
Mediocre at best- didn't help that the table they sat us at had one burned out light which made the bug filled one to the right even more noticeable. The food was decent, nothing extraordinary and could've been better had our server ever come back to the table, even once. Maybe she was having a bad night, but they weren't all too busy and she seemed inconvenienced by us being there. There's way too many other options within a stones throw to bother going back here, but was worth a try once I guess.
