Service was VERY SLOW and the restaurant was incredibly loud. Our waitress seemed to forget we were there to take our order and as she would occasionally pass our table for us to ask for something she seemed a bit surprised to see us. About a third to half of the time, my wife and I had difficulty hearing each other across the table. There is really nothing in the restaurant to help with acoustics or to dampen the clanging of dishes in the kitchen (which is open to the dinning room) or loud voices of other patrons. The walls are either wood or a wall of glass, with virtually no curtains/textiles of any sort to absorb a little noise. Table tops are wood with no table clothes. Floor is not caperred (which is fine and I would not expect). Some acoustic dampening would do a world of good here. The fact that it took an hour and fifteen minutes for dinner to arrive obviously made all of this worse, not to mention that the dining room was uncomfortably warm. (Heat from the open kitchen??). All of the above was really a shame because the food was actually quite good. Unfortunately, by the time it arrived, we were so ready to get out of there it' was hard to enjoy it.
We were in town to celebrate a friend's birthday on St. Patty's day and decided to try this restaurant. We were very pleased with the service, table, and the food was absolutely incredible!
The duck breast was out of this world. The maple sauce made the dish. Very generous portion of fried oysters.
Just a fantastic meal. The goat cheese gnocchi was otherworldly. We followed that with the pork chop, which was excellent, and a New York Strip which was on special. Probably one of the most memorable NY Strips I've ever had. Our server was great, attentive, and knowledgeable about the dishes and rums. We're not huge rum/rhum people, so not much to comment there although we did try one we really liked! But the food... Just great.
Everything was delicious. We had the Mac & Chez app, fried oysters and pimento chez to start. Followed up with a NY strip we shared. Everything was outstanding. Food cane out quickly and prepared to perfection. Our server Robyn was wonderful.
We ordered a French flight of Rhum. So delicious and server was very helpful with labeling the different flavors when they arrived. Started with small plate of short ribs and decided on the steak special of the evening. It was so thick I thought impossible for it to be tender. Wrong! It was excellent. Can't wait to go back!!
As in the past, always a great experience here at Storm. Food is always top notch
and everyone from the greeter to the servers are all very pleasant and accommodating.
Thanks! Brad & DeeDee
Great run cocktails & burger special. Service was great.
As a local, one of thest meals weve had in Asheville...quail and mahi outstanding
I am sorry to say that it was so loud that we could not carry on a conversation. And the food was extremely salty.
We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday! Our waitress Lauren (aka Tara) was great, especially for putting up with us!
The price was right--Monday nights burger and beer for 10 dollars -- the waitress was superb -- but my medium burger was crispy on the edges and had all the flavor cooked out. I will go back once more and give it a try. We shall see.
We had lovely salads and "starters", which were plenty of food and creative . As this was the start of a birthday evening, we had cocktails which were delicious. We were there early (before a show) and the ambiance inside was great. It did get rather loud towards the end of our meal with a table of 8 near by.
I would recommend Storm to anyone. We had a great experience.
OUTSTANDING! Ambience, food, Service, etc. was terrific! The round table for the five people in our party was perfect for conversation. We will certainly be returning in the near future.
Have eaten at Storm on several special occasions. It’s one of our go-to restaurants for fine dining in AVL. Each time it keeps getting better.
Great restaurant with local ingredients and fabulous ambiance. The cocktails and service were wonderful and the food was superb. My only complaint is that the 2-top tables along the wall are so close together we might as well have been sitting with all the other couples next to us. We could hear every single bit of their conversation and they could hear ours. And I didn't really want to hear some of what these people were talking about as it would have been better saved for a conversation in private.
Great food. Awesome environment
Storm has always been one of our Asheville favorites. The selection of rum and other cocktails/liquors is outstanding, as is the menu, which is inventive and mostly locally sourced. We never go there without ordering the chicken liver mousse -- silky and delicious, with yummy house made pickled accompaniments including jalapeños. All four of our entrees were wonderful -- from a small plate of beautifully seared scallops to a succulent duck breast to an excellent hangar steak and perfectly cooked swordfish. The service was impeccable, as usual, and a great time was had by all.
This was our first time to this unique venue. Great ambiance and interesting decor held our focus. However, the food left much to be desired. We knew the menu was a short list of items - all the more reason why the options should taste GOOD. We had the chewiest filet I've ever had; it was not satisfying at all. We ordered the mac and cheese app - which is an odd app that came with no plate to eat it on. The brownie was like cake and could only eat half / it was blah. Decent service! Friendly and attentive. The restaurant is in a convenient location. It was a cold winter night when I ate there , but it appears they have outside seating as well.
Good experience - good service, good food, nice environment. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Good and drinks
We @MetroWines LOVE Storm! The decor, the service, the drinks, the cuisine and the parking exceed expectations!
The food and service (ALL working here) have always been top notch.
We enjoy the friendliness of everyone and always look forward to our next visit.
The ambiance is also warm and inviting....enhanced by the lighting and
candles throughout. Great job, Storm! Brad & DeeDee
Under loved in Asheville but still very good!
My husband and I love Storm and tell everyone about it.
This particular night there was a group in the dinning room that one person in particular was quite disruptive and boisterous. This is of no fault of the staff at Storm, just one of those things I suppose.
Also, I had the swordfish, which I have had before, however this particular night it was over cooked.
All in all it was kind of an off night at the restaurant but this was just one night.
Overall our experience at Storm has been FABULOUS!
This one night will not change the fact that this will be our go to spot in Asheville for great food.
Our server was very attentive & knowledgeable about food & cocktails! there was lots of 'happy noise'-- the ambiance was cozy & warm.
The only issue was that the online menu didn't match the in house menu. Several items were not available. While i had to change my choice of fish dish from Mahi Mahi to swordfish, i enjpoyed my meal very much.
Went for Asheville restaurant week and wasn’t disappointed. Butternut squash soup and mackerel toast was well done and tasty.
Petite filets were done perfectly with great taste.
Definitely go back
Nice atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff along with delicious food combined to make a memorable birthday dinner . I would highly recommend this bistro.
Good service and good food. Noise level is high but we knew that from previous visits. Handled allergies very well
Loved all of it! I went for the Monday $10 burger and beer- fantastic! I wish I had discovered this place earlier! It had a fun rustic atmosphere and great service :)
Food is always very good, consistent, great service, warm and cozy. Neighborhood Gem
One of our favorite date night spots. Awesome atmosphere and creative menu. Devil’s Oasis is an incredible drink! Can’t wait to go back.
Cheeseburger, fries, and a beer for 10$!!!!!! Wow
Storm exceeded most of our expectations. The meal was reasonable for the price-point and due to weather, Storm was not very busy.
The only criticism we had was the choice of table. We ended up in the corner near 2 windows, resulting in most of the party being cold. If it had been a big deal, we would have asked to be moved and I’m sure Storm would have been willing to re-seat us.
All things considered, Storm was overall a pleasant experience. Definitely worth repeating.
Our first visit, and we will definitely be back. Our party of 4 had reservations (Open Table), and we were glad we had them. Inside is a huge, curved bar which curves around the partially open kitchen, and was full during our entire stay. Dining tables occupied the left half, and had a very cozy, inviting atmosphere. We were promptly seated by a friendly hostess for our 6:30 PM reservation, and over the next 30 minutes, all tables were occupied. Most of the patrons looked to be in the below 40 age group so the bar atmosphere was vibrant, and the dining area fine for comfortable conversation. Our service was excellent and friendly. The wine list had a limited number of by-the-glass selections, and our server couldn't provide any tasting notes, but did offer to let us try any. A good list of local craft beers is available. Judging from the size of the bar, and the array of bottled spirits behind it, I assume any mixed drink or cocktail would be available. The menu was divided into snacks, small plates, and dinners. We had a snack (3 cheese macaroni with bacon, and roasted jalopenos which was delicious), then shrimp and grits, and goat cheese filled gnocci with fennel sausage, leeks and topped with a fried egg. Both were excellent. We ended by sharing the warm brownie and ice cream, on chocolate ganache and peanuts. I was particularly delighted to find that French press coffee is available, both decaf and regular. There is lots of outdoor seating, so I feel this will be a great choice also when the weather warms. We will count Storm Rhum Bar and Bistro now as one of our favorites in Asheville.
Really enjoyed the food, service was good but due to the spacing of the tables (way too close to each other), the server had a difficult time reaching over us to serve another table.
Great! Food was good. Enjoyed our meal.
I was in town on a girls trip with my daughter and wanting something local with atmosphere. I read about the restaurant and was so glad we went. I was so impressed with every aspect of this restaurant . So unfortunate that I live so far away!!! If we ever make it to Asheville again it will be on our list of places to go!!
Loved everything about this place.
Wonderful restaurant! The food was outstanding. We got 5 different plates and shared them and they were all outstanding. The service was also great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
