Storm Rhum Bar and Bistro
Delicious food, impeccable service. The swordfish was fresh and perfectly prepared. Great meal with a dear friend. A perfect night out.
Great local spot. Very good drink selections and the appetizers and main courses were excellent.
Food was delicious, excellent service, superb cocktails!
We went on July 4th but they weren’t completely booked, however, the service was horrible. They appeared to be greatly understaffed for the night. Food was okay.
Food was good at a good price. Drinks were awesome and our service was spectacular.
fresh farm (and sea) to table!
Excellent preparation and interesting taste combinations
The waiter was awesome. The outdoor patio was awesome. The drinks were awesome. Appetizers we picked were salad and bbq pigs ear. Salad had a small amount of goat cheese on it mixed greens and 2 tiny slices of onion, hardly any dressing. Bbq pigs ears were tasty ! However for the main course and the price of the food, the Steak I ordered was not very tasty. My wife ordered sailfish and it wasnt very flavorful either. Ya pay $130 for dinner you want good food.
Loved the food. Rum choices were exceptional. Waiter had a good knowledge of both. On this Wednesday, the restaurant was mostly empty. That was a big surprise.
My husband had the duck breast with a raspberry sauce. It was delicious. I had the vegetable plate with a small plate of grilled squid. Our server, Tyler was a lot of fun too. I liked the wines and the panna cotta melted in the mouth. Fun evening, I’d go back. It was a terrific surprise, the entire meal was delightful
Our experience was,as always, an excellent one with great food and attentive service. Thanks!
Love Storm. Burger Monday is the best value going and the food is always wonderful. GF options are clearly marked and I've never gotten sick after eating there. Having a reaction is always a risk when eating out GF. It's our go to choice in AVL. The patio is wonderful when weather permits.
Every time we eat here we are reminded of how outstanding the food and service are ! Just another AVL gem and the Rhum selection is stellar.
Loved it! Terrific service, food, and cocktails!
First time back in a few years. Still a fantastic place to eat or have drinks. Sat on the patio with the dogs. The servers were great and brought the dogs water. The food was fantastic as usual. Very relaxing end to a busy day on the trails.
We love Storm!! Food is delicious, staff is accommodating, atmosphere is perfect. One of our favorites!!!
Probably not, because there was nobody there. We had a reservation, and also happened to be the only people there, it was silly. I can't exactly put my finger on why the restaurant was empty: the food was pretty good, and the service was the same. But when there's nobody in a restaurant, there's usually a reason.
Food was fantastic. Service amazing. Lovely dining experience.
Always tasty, unique & fresh with interesting wines & Great Rhums. Cool spot, great service.
I recently took an out-of-town friend to Storm Rhum. He's a burger fan, as am I, and I've enjoyed the burger at this South Lexington Avenue spot before.
I'm a big proponent of double-patty burgers (and in Asheville Bull & Beggar has by far the best), but Storm Rhum serves the single-patty version. Nonetheless, it was pretty good. We both ordered ours cooked medium. Mine came exactly medium, but my friend's was cooked well-done.
The problem with single-patty burgers, with a half pound or so of beef, is that the buns rarely can stand up to the meat and dressings. That was the case with our cheeseburgers, and we both ended up eating the burgers with knife and fork. I like the Storm Rhum buns, but they just don't last as long as the burgers.
I would guess Storm Rhum uses a sirloin-based or other low-fat ground meat, rather than the more complex combination of chuck, short rib, brisket and other cuts used by the great burger places in Atlanta and elsewhere, such as Bocado and H&F.
Still, we enjoyed the atmosphere at Storm Rhum, the good service and the hand-cut fries. Storm Rhum has a good cocktail list, heavy of course on the rum drinks. Its local draft beer offerings are weak and its wine choices are fairly limited. Storm Rhum has a reputation for a high noise level, but as the restaurant wasn't full when we were there, it wasn't too loud, and we could talk.
Love the free parking (after 6 pm) at the "mural lot" across the street.
With two drinks each, plus the two burger and fries plates ($16), with taxes and generous tips our tab for two came to $80.
Yum-loved the grilled romain salad. All food delish.
Do yourself a favor and order several plates of the Mac and cheese. The best! Our waiter was amazing, so attentive. Food was excellent! One of my favorites in Asheville!
Loved the food! The previous guests that included noise level in their review were spot on. Food and service were excellent. My wife and I stopped trying to talk to each other because we were sitting next to a bridal shower group and that group was "having fun" at the detriment to every else in the restaurant. I don't fault the restaurant or the group....just unbearably loud. The Mahi and Ribeye were both really good. The wine and drinks also excellent.
The food and service are good but the noise level is off the charts, especially when they fill the large table reserved for BIG parties, which should be in a separate room! Forget having conversation! Either go early or ask if a large party is booked.
We had THE best dinner, drinks and service!! Thank you so much for a fabulous meal and evening!
As usual Storm is an excellent restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, good service and consistently good food. Thé specialty cocktails are perfect.
Table was ready when we arrived an the rest of the evening could not have been better.
Very nice atmosphere, service was well paced cocktails from the bar we’re timely and tasty. Food was to be expected meats were cooked appropriately and sides the same. A really nice restaurant and would recommend to others for a causal environment with really delicious fresh food.
Our server was an excellent guide to the menu and the food was wonderful.
Greatly enjoyed our server and the food. The rhum was a delight and the desserts were all affordable at $5. The French coffee press at the end was a great touch.
Our friends and I were visiting from Nashville and stumbled upon this place. Everyone was extremely nice and the ambiance and decor were perfect. Our server Warren was fantastic, very attentive and fun. He was able to help us make great decisions on the food which was also extremely good. We loved the Mac and cheese and the steak was also a favorite. Will definitely revisit this place on our next visit!
One of the best beginning plates that I have ever had, was the roasted beets and arugala, with goat cheese. If nothing else, order this. The service was good as was the food. Also the blood orange margarita is a winner, if you like a little heat.
Storm is a regular dining spot for us. The food is always well prepared and we love the atmosphere. The service is always excellent and the wait staff are courteous and knowledgeable. I also have some special dietary requirements and the wait staff and chef have always made sure my meal was properly prepared. Our only comment otherwise would be that it would be nice if the menu changed periodically.
My wife and I visit Asheville 4 to 5 times per year and we must dine at Storm at least one time during our trip. The Chef always wows us with his menu and the staff is always so helpful articulating the menu. Impossible to recommend just one entree. Enjoy!
We have been trying to get to Storm Rhum Bar, and we are so glad we finally did! Our server was amazing in sharing wine knowledge, and the atmosphere was perfect. We will definitely be back and would gladly recommend taking others!
Looking for a casual restaurant for dinner after a long day...Storm was perfect !
The food was amazing! We highly recommend the beet salad. The dressing is scrumptious. The filet was perfection, as was the grouper. Rum flights were tasty and a good value. Overall excellent experience. Service was friendly and efficient.
Always very interesting food, great service and a place where you can converse with friends.
Love the place. Menu is somewhat limited, but all the offerings are fresh and well done. The bar is among the best in Asheville. The rhum menu is unique.
If you seek a casual dinner with friends with good food and service in an authentic environment, do not hesitate.
It was good but very noisy.!!
Worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Asheville. The waiter was very nice, but got 3 out of 3 drink orders wrong. They were quite long in arriving at the table, and all 3 martinis were not up (without ice) but in double old fashioned glasses filled with ice. We sent them back and eventually received 3 completely watered down martinis. The bar tender simply drained the drinks into new glasses. No thank you. The manager was also very sweet and offered to make new ones, which we declined. The beet salad was good, nothing special. Duck breast arrived raw. Not exaggerating. Hamburger was ordered medium rare, it arrived very rare and so salty it was inedible. Venison dish was ok, also extremely salty. Manager offered to bring new food, waiter offered desserts, but we were anxious to move on. Definitely will not be going back.
